VIDEO: Kristin Bauer van Straten Says Pam’s Loyalty is Tested

July 31, 2010

She looked cool, calm and collected, and Jethro Nededog of Zap2it.com asked Kristin Bauer van Straten some excellent questions about Pam, True Blood‘s sassy and sophisticated vampire.

First of all, Pam has become a regular this season and Kristin‘s reaction was, “It’s like being invited to the best party ever!”  Joking about starting off being tortured with her shirt open, Kristin said this is now a topic of conversation with the women – read the script, look at wardrobe and know it’s time to stop eating and go work out.

Revealing a little about what’s in store for Pam, Kristin said major shifts are happening in the vampire hierarchy, and the dominoes are about to spiral downward.  Pam is being pushed emotionally and physically.  We find out so much about her relationship with Eric.

Kristin said she didn’t think Pam had an achilles heel but we find she can be vulnerable.  Both Pam‘s and Eric‘s lives are at stake (no pun intended).  Her loyalty is tested to the max.  And her integrity.  We get to see Pam‘s humanity and who she cares about.  According to Kristin, everybody needs someone and Eric is it for Pam.

Asked what she’d like to see happen next season (Season 4), Kristin referenced an occurrence in Charlaine Harris‘ book 4 in the series.  Eric loses his mind and Pam and Sookie have to take care of him.

If Eric had to choose between saving either Pam or Sookie, who would he choose?  She didn’t answer, but said we would find out this year.

Making fun of Kristinalways hanging on to her purse, Kristin joked that in real life it has everything near and dear to her.  From food to cellphone (she even took photos of Alexander Skarsgard next to his cardboard likeness and emailed it to him), her cherry chapstick is very special.

July 31, 2010

When life gives you crazy vampires and then ties you up to a toilet, all you can do is…be lighthearted? Rutina Wesley is very lighthearted in her video interview with MTV on season 3 of True Blood and her character’s tribulations as well as her thoughts on James Frain, who play Franklin Mott and Tara’s crazy vampire love interest.

Even though Rutina has spent all season tied up, Alan Ball and the rest only did it with love. Though challenging, Rutina’s spirits were kept up with James’ company as well as his amazing performance as Franklin.

Rutina only hopes that after so much duct tape and rope, Tara will finally find stability in her life.

VIDEO: Charlaine Harris Gushes over True Blood and Lafayette

July 31, 2010

If you wanted to create one hit show after another, who would you turn to? Alan Ball goes to Charlaine Harris. She has not only inspired Ball to create the HBO hit True Blood, but was also the one who gave him Charlie Huston’s novel, which has produced a new deal between  himself and HBO to create a new series based on the novel.

Fans of the book series and the show know that Alan Ball has departed from Charlaine’s novels in many ways. What’s Charlaine’s favorite? Keeping Lafayette alive! In the books, Lafayette dies very early on, but in the show he’s survived long enough to even have his own love interest. Charlaine loves what Nelsan Ellis has done to the character and it’s a joy to watch him perform.

The show seems to be progressing and generating a lot of fans, but let’s not forget the book series that hasn’t ended yet and only gets better with each installment. Charlaine knows what the ending to the series will be and that it will be revealed soon. She’s been signed to 13 books, and she is working on 11. If she can’t end it by the 13th novel, then it’ll end at 14.

VIDEO: Alan Ball Teases True Blood Wedding and Witches

July 31, 2010

Who do fans go to when they want to get the best spoilers about True Blood? The mastermind himself: Alan Ball. In a video interview, Ball spills season 3 and 4 secrets…or does he?

The first thing Ball reveals is his goal to introduce as many supes as he can to the show in order to keep it interesting, though he wouldn’t say what Sookie was. There will be a lot of supe action to come in season 4 with characters getting powers that perhaps they didn’t even know about, which will create mayhem and comedy.

As for a royal wedding between Russell Eddington, the King of Mississippi, and Sophie-Anne, the Queens of Louisiana, Ball does a lot more teasing than telling. To see what he says about vampire royalty, check out the video.

VIDEO: Charlaine Harris Favors Jessica at Comic-Con 2010

July 31, 2010

Hardcore fans know that HBO‘s True Blood, while based on Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels, tends to stray from the source material. During her Comic-Con panel, Charlaine admitted baby vampire Jessica has been her favorite departure from the series.

Zap2it.com caught up with Charlaine afterward to get a little more information on this claim. Charlaine says while she was a little hesitant when she saw Bill initially make her, she quickly fell in love with the character and the actress, deciding it was good for Bill to have someone to look after.

VIDEO: Denis O’Hare Explains Fangs and Sucking Sounds

July 31, 2010

Denis O’Hare talked with AP-Red‘s Jason Drew about his career, his method of character development and his role of Russell Edgington, True Blood‘s Vampire King of Mississippi.

Was he into vampires before his role as the 2800 year-old vampire king? At 8 years of age he pretended to be Dracula and even had a book titled “How to Care for Your Monster”.  He also watched Dark Shadows as a kid.

What’s great about Charlaine Harris‘ story, he says,  is that vampires come out into the open.  That’s her invention and it’s great.

Denis described the differences between the soft fangs and hard fangs.  The soft are for biting but not for talking.  He actually lost his during one scene! They are not held in with adhesive.  In addition to having a fang wrangler, Denis said he spends a lot of time creating the various sounds required for sucking blood and biting.

Talking about his True Blood role, Denis said it was decided before he was cast that they wanted a more charming, powerful and deadly king.  That differs from the book’s Russell.

When the correlation between some of the vampire issues was made, such as the Vampire Rights Amendment and the current gay marriage controversy, Denis said it’s rather interesting that Russell and Talbot have the most stable relationship on the show.  After 700 years together, they’re still committed to each other.

Watch the video.  And do not miss True Blood‘s Episode 7 on Sunday on HBO.
