True Blood Season 4, Episode 2 Cast Update

January 21, 2011

Supporting Roles for Episode 2, “You Smell Like Dinner”

True Blood's Darren Darnborough (Callum)

True Blood fans, it’s almost here!  Season 4 filming is underway, and HBO has been casting actors left and right!  We’ve given updates previously that included Claude(woot!) here,  and new fangbanger Matt here.  We now know who will be playing Callum (British bartender) whom we referenced here.  Pictured to the right, Darren Darnborough has appeared on several television shows in the UK, and has done a bit of producing as well.  Welcome, Darren!

Other supporting roles that have been cast are: Officer Trap (Poncho Hodges), James (Marcus McGee), and Merlotte customer (Rene Napoli).  Standing at an impressive 6’8″ and being a former basketball player, it’ll be interesting to see if Poncho Hodges will be intimidating as Officer Trap.  Will he and Officer Featherstone (Brandon Molale) be playing good cop/bad cop?  Not to worry, we’ll be keeping you up to date on all the news as it becomes available.

What do you think of the new line-up?  Can you stand to wait five more months until the new season?  It certainly feels like it’s been ages since the finale of season 3… or is it just me?

SPOILERS: Cast Announcement for Season 4 Episode 3

January 21, 2011

If You Love Me, Why am I Dyin’?

Things are definitely starting to shape up for season 4 of True Blood. More and more spoilers are being leaked each day and we even got a little teaser on January 16th before the season 5 premiere of ‘Big Love’ on HBO. As we previously reported on January 3rd, a casting call for a vampire, fangbanger, and camera operator had been announced for episode 3, ‘If You Love Me, Why am I Dyin’?’ and these characters have now been cast.

New Blood:

Aubrey DeekerAubrey Deeker has snagged the role of a no-name vampire who’s desperate to escape the dire consequences of his actions after he’s caught on tape feeding on a woman. A tormented vampire? Yeah, he’ll fit right in. Deeker had a small part in HBO’s ‘The Wire’ back in 2008 and has spent most of his acting days on the stage in New York and Washington D.C.

Brian Treitler will play a camera operator in season 4 of True BloodBrian Treitler will tackle the dimwitted vampire hater that is the camera operator. He’s somewhat righteous and he’s seen on a grainy YouTube video making underground films of vampires feeding, thus entrapping them. Hmm, sounds exactly like the kind of tasty treat a certain King of Mississippiwould enjoy. Treitler will also have a small role on this season’s ‘Big Love’ and has appeared in ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘Malcolm in the Middle’.

Sam HorriganSam Horrigan will play the hot, stupid fangbanger who enjoys being bitten by Pam. Horrigan’s resume is pretty long, with stints on ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’, ‘Veronica Mars’, and ‘Desperate Housewives’. He may only have three lines in episode 3, but we’re certain the dynamic between him and Pam will be incredibly entertaining.

It sounds like episode 3 is going to be full of fun, torture, and death. Only five months to go Truebies!

True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll to Celebrate Mother’s Day in April

January 21, 2011

Woll’s New Movie Scheduled to Hit Theaters April 1

True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll stars in Mother's DayMother’s Day is usually spent celebrating with flowers, appreciation, a few hugs, and maybe a delicious brunch. Not if you’re Darren Lynn Bousman. His new film, ‘Mother’s Day’, a remake of the 1980 Charles Kaufman movie, is sure to be full of blood and serious violence (um, he’s directed three of the ‘Saw’ films). True Blood‘s Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby), plays Lydia Koffin (yes, Koffin), the lone sister of three delinquent brothers and the daughter of one completely deranged mother (Rebecca De Mornay).

There isn’t much information given about Woll’s character, but the film’s synopsis reveals that some major misbehaving will occur:

Three brothers on the run from the law head for home, only to discover that their mother lost the house in a foreclosure. Mother ingeniously orchestrates her sons’ escape, teaching the house’s new owners and their guests a few lessons along the way. Jaime King, Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Shawn Ashmore, Matt O’Leary, Lyriq Bent, Lisa Marcos, Patrick Flueger, AJ Cook, J. LaRose and Warren Kole also star.

Woll has certainly proved she can play tough and De Mornay has some scary films under her belt, so we’re betting this will be a bit creepy. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think and if you plan to see the film.

Jace Everett Talks About Fame

January 20, 2011

True Blood’s Fave Singer Talks About THAT Song

Jace EverettFor True Blood fans, the song ‘I Wanna Do Bad Things To You‘ is just as memorable as the vampires. Recently Mark Sanders from Flagpole.com was lucky enough to interview the man behind the song, Jace Everett.

The interviewer was quick to point out that to Trubie fans, Jace Everett is the equivalent of Mick Jagger, Elvis and the Pope all rolled into one. Jace just finds this notion of fame humorous:

“I generally take it in stride and recognize that the majority of people who love the song really love it because they love ‘True Blood. I can’t resent that. I might, on a bad day, but that’d be immature… I’ve never understood famous people complaining about fame.”

Everett, 38, is a former construction worker. He has seen enough of the music industry to be both thankful for what he has as well as being able to take everything with a grain of salt.  While being an excellent singer, Everett prefers to call himself a songwriter, even if he has well and truly done his dues as a singer. And if it wasn’t for Epic records merging, we would have heard about Jace a lot earlier on. Although, in hindsight, he is glad for his contract termination.

“If I had been successful as a mainstream country act, I would be very unhappy right now.”

He prefers the success that has come about with Alan Ball’s decision to use his song in the opening credits of True Blood. Although getting his big break was a blend of luck and knowing someone inside iTunes who decided to use Bad Things for Song of the Week.

“With Bad Things, that put me in a situation where I don’t have to deliver pizzas. I can actually spend the day in my home studio working on the next song. That’s the real freedom I have. And I don’t take it for granted.”

Everett is currently promoting his latest album, Red Revelations. Co-produced by blues-country icon Chuck Prophet, it is his own special fusion of rockabilly and old-time folk mixed evenly with his individual spooky crooning.

And if you are eager to see this fabulous singer in the flesh, then details of his latest gig are below:

When: Thursday, Jan. 20, 9:30 p.m

Where: The Melting Point

295 E. Doughtery St. 30601 Athens, GA, US

Anna Paquin Graces Cover of Dazed & Confused Magazine

January 20, 2011

Interview with a Vampire Lover

Anna Paquin in Dazed & ConfusedFor their January issue, Dazed & Confused Magazine interviewed Anna Paquin, the incandescent Kiwi who plays Sookie Stackhouse on HBO‘s True Blood.  In the interview, we discover that she was “a bit of a goth”, who wore the classic Doc Martens boots and had long, dark hair.  Not much of a stretch, then, that she would go on to become the embodiment of today’s dark & occult trend — vampires.

Not Your Typical Hollywood Star

Anna confesses she doesn’t quite believe in fate or destiny, that she largely attributes her 19-year career to luck.  She never saw herself living in Los Angeles, either.  When asked how the transition has been between becoming an Angeleno versus being a New Yorker, she replies:

“I swore I would never leave New York, come hell or high water, because I loved it… but I really love living in LA. And then as I kept deferring school to go work, and then my class graduated without me, I stopped pretending I was going to go back.”

Crediting her upbringing for the fact that she doesn’t handle compliments too well, she will say, “Thank you,” as proper etiquette dictates, but she doesn’t think too highly of herself.  She refuses to believe the hype, so to speak.  You also will never find her tooting her own horn.  Concerning this, she shares:

“I find it really fascinating when people will freely tell you things they are really good at. It’s like, ‘Wow, I am really happy that you are so confident!’ I guess part of me feels like if you think you’ve already got it all sorted then you’ve got nowhere to go. Then there is nothing to strive for and nothing to be attained. If you think you’re as smart as you need to be, then where do you go from there?”

Forever Young

True Blood's Anna Paquin in Dazed & Confused

Standing at a mere 5’4″, with incredibly good genes, Anna feels she looked like a teenager for entirely too long.  The downside to that is, she was often treated like a kid, even at the age of 20.  Certainly not by those who knew her personally or worked with her, for she feels she did not have “the work ethic of a kid.”  Being in the business for as long as she has, she’s had to mature and act beyond her years.  No longer being a victim of people judging a book by its cover, she is grateful that her looks are finally catching up to her emotional and chronological age.  About looking so young, she confesses:

“There is something to be said for looking like an adult. There is a certain sort of thing where people will look at you and think they know what your degree of life understanding and life experience is. Eventually, when people get to know you they realise you’re not some young flake — despite the fact that you look like you should be carded to go to an R-rated movie.”

Check out the whole interview if you want to read more about Anna’s personal life, or see what she has to say about Sookie.  Does she just get more and more interesting, or what?
