Trailer: True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård Suffers From Melancholia

April 24, 2011

Melancholia Opens in Theaters Later This Year:

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard's new movie, Melancholia, hits theaters later this yearA dramatic science fiction thriller starring True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman) as a melancholic newlywed, who probably needs comforting? Yes. Please. Legendary filmmaker and provocateur Lars von Trier’s new film, Melancholia, revolves around the unhappiness of Justine (Kirsten Dunst), who married Michael (Skarsgård) even though (it appears) she didn’t really want to. Throw in a tumultuous sibling rivalry and the harrowing reality that a new planet has just been identified (and is careening toward Earth), and you’ve got yourself one explosive story line.

Von Trier, who at one point announced “no  more happy endings!”, has been pretty tight-lipped about his newest work, but has recently revealed that:

“In Melancholia I start with the end. Because what is interesting is not what happens but how it happens! So we begin by seeing the world being crushed, then we can tell the story afterwards. In this way you don’t have to sit and form theories about what will happen, but can delve down into some other levels and become interested in the pictures and the universe; that’s what I imagine.”

Von Trier admitted that some of the emotions in the film come from his memory of his childhood (he grew up in Denmark), and how he was plagued with horrific fears of nuclear war.  Watch the trailer below.

Melancholia is heading to the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, which will be held May 11-22, 2011.

What do you think Truebies? Sounds like a pretty crazy journey to us!

HBO – Inside True Blood with Brit Morgan

April 20, 2011

Brit Morgan as Debbie PeltThe Actor Who Plays Debbie Pelt Talks About Table Reads

In TV world, table reading a script is an important part of the acting process. It helps the actors get a feel for the next episode, as well as lets the director and writers see any flaws in the script.

Recently Gianna Sobol talked to Brit Morgan (the actress who plays Debbie Pelt) about this process on HBO’s Inside True Blood. Here’s what she had to say.

While she found the whole process very nerve-wracking, it was also a chance for her to view the rest of the episode, as well as meet with actors and characters that she didn’t normally perform with.

I sat next to Kristin Bauer last week and she said, “Gosh, aren’t these so nerve-wracking?!” And I just took the biggest sigh of relief, knowing I’m not the only one who gets nervous about them!

The seating arrangements on these events are normally pre organised although malleable to a degree, with Brit generally sitting across from Alcide, and in the general vicinity of Sookie.

While table reads are quite often a cold read of the script, some people like to prepare first. Brit is one who likes to come to the table with a little insight:

I do prepare a little. I think I’m still so amazed that I’m on this show and I respect the people I’m working with so much, that I always want to do a good job. I don’t do a full on “performance,” but I definitely have a strong idea of what I’m going in with.

Top 10 Unknown Facts About Todd Lowe

April 20, 2011

10 Tidbits About the Man Who Plays Terry:

Todd Lowe as Terry Bellefleur (HBO)Todd Lowe plays the sweet, if slightly mental, Terry Bellefleur on HBO‘s vampire hit True Blood.  What do we know about him in real life?  Well, here’s a list of ten things, for starters:

1. He played Lane’s baby daddy on Gilmore Girls!  Remember that show?  It starred Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.  Lowe played the role of Zack, who was Lane’s band mate, and later became her husband.

2. He actually is in a band!  It’s called Pilbilly Nights, and they played at Anna Paquin’s wedding.

3. He originally auditioned for the role of Hoyt.  He obviously didn’t get that part, but Alan Ball liked him so much that he asked him to come back and audition for the role of Terry.  According to Lowe:

“They had me do the whole ‘I like your clavicles’ bit. I read once for that then my agent called later and told me I got the role.”

4. His Southern accent is real.  He comes from a small town near the Louisiana border called Humble, Texas.

5. He’s got more than twenty plays under his belt.  He loves the theater!

6. His eyes were damaged filming an orgy.  Remember all the chaos that was a result of Maryann’s influence in Season 2?  Those black contacts were so painful that he developed styes.

7. His favorite TV show is Breaking Bad.

8. He can ad-lib!  It looks like his skills are right on par with Alan Ball’s — he came up with the following gems: “We will un-f*ck this situation at a later date,” and “Bullshit, God has horns!”

9. His favorite musicians are Morrissey, Sting, and Willie Nelson.

10. He owned a children’s theater company.

Jim Parrack of True Blood Talks Nudity and James Franco

April 19, 2011

Dishing on Nudity in Season 4 and His Friend James Franco:

True Blood's Jim Parrack (Hoyt)Jim Parrack (Hoyt Fortenberry) recently spoke with New York Magazine about season 4 of True Blood.  While he couldn’t say much he promised that it would be the most shocking season yet saying:

“The things that happen with the relationships between people and creatures are so unpredictable and severe, it’s wild.”

He also tells us that Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur) will be a much buffer man than the detective we’ve come to know.  He couldn’t tell us if Chris will have any nude scenes, but our dear Hoyt won’t be taking it all off any time soon.

While he was in New York, Jim hung out with his friend James Franco.  The two became friends back in 2002 when he states that they both felt like outsiders in the Hollywood scene.  He even credits James with helping him straighten out his life saying:

“He was just so honest. You know, I was a young guy, 21 or 22 years old, that was very troubled, and he didn’t mind saying to me, ‘You’ve got to get it together.’ And he wasn’t that much older.”

He also says that his friend’s working habits aren’t just for show.  He says he has a genuine curiosity about life, and values his own, and is just truly interested about life and that is a part of their friendship.  Jim will also have a role in James Franco’s upcoming Sal Mineo biopic.  Shooting for that will begin in May or June.  While James will direct, it is unclear if he will also act in the film.

Evan Rachel Wood Esquire Reveal — Bisexuality, Tattoos and Sexy Lingerie

April 19, 2011

Evan Rachel Wood Esquire Shoot

True Blood’s Queen: Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood recently gave Esquire an interview and did a very hot and sexy photo shoot in Gothic black fishnet stockings and a peek-a-boo bodysuit revealing a very fit and trim physique and a playful mindset. You can even glimpse one of her nine, yes nine, tattoos.

How does Wood describe herself? She tells Esquire:

“I’m constantly changing, I’m constantly growing. I think I’m a little controversial? … I just try and keep some mystery, so hopefully people can’t really put their finger on it.”

Ms. Wood, who used to date gender blender rocker Marilyn Manson:

She says she’s feeling free and genuinely happy these days. “I’m up for anything. Meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl…”

This is the third such hint in the conversation, after that androgyny comment and saying she’d “marry” her Mildred Pierce costar Kate Winslet if she could.

You date women?

“Yes,” she says proudly, as if she was waiting to be asked.

Do you look for different things in men than in women?

“Yeah, I’m more kind of like the guy when it comes to girls. I’m the dominant one.” It’s with women, she says, that her inner North Carolina gentleman comes out: “I’m opening the doors, I’m buying dinner. Yeah, I’m romantic.”

For more photos and dish on each of her tattoos read the rest of the story at Esquire. Ms. Wood has a new movie coming in wide release this fall in George Clooney’s film, The Ides of March.
