Video: Red Carpet Interviews at Season 4 Premiere

June 25, 2011

See What the Cast Has to Say About the New Season:

True Blood Season 4 poster-redChris Balish, co-host of KABC Television’s On The Red Carpet, was lucky enough to interview some of our favorite cast members at the Hollywood premiere of True Blood’s season 4.  According to Stephen Moyer (vampire Bill Compton), this season:

“We’ve got a lot of elements, we’ve got a lot of things in the air this year. I had very little to do with the witches, I do work with them a little bit and that’s been really fun. It’s very new, something completely different. They have a power that we’ve never explored before. ”

Speaking of the challenges writers of this genre might face, the actor further explains, interestingly:

“I think that the tough thing for any writer that’s doing a vampire show is to work out what is catnip and what is Kryptonite for the lead baddie, or the goodie — vampires. What is going to be something that can overpower them or something that is going to be attractive to them. So the witches are part of that element.”

Since working alongside his wife (Paquin) is all he knows, he seems to think that after filming has wrapped, he will become a “crazy stalker groupie”, tagging along on whatever project she works on next.  How sweet!  No doubt many of you would not mind that a bit.

Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse), like the rest of the cast, is not allowed to divulge much, thanks to strict instructions from Alan Ball (series creator, writer and director).  She expressed relief that they’d be done filming soon (which they probably are by now!), saying:

“I’m so excited for everyone to finally see it so we can start talking about it and stop having to give these annoying interviews where I’m like, ‘I can’t tell you that!’”

Rutina Wesley, who plays Sookie’s best friend Tara, simply reiterated that we will find out where her character has been, that she’s better, and she obviously has a new ’do.

Deborah Ann Woll, the lovely New Yorker who plays baby vamp Jessica, shares that this season is her favorite.  She does love Jessica & Hoyt’s relationship, and hopes that things work out for them.

Spoiler Alert:

Marshall Allman, the youngun’ who plays Sam Merlotte’s little brother Tommy, reveals some interesting and possibly disturbing news:

“It definitely turns weird when Sam hits on Tommy. So he’s added incest and murder to his rap sheet. But, you know, Sam’s got some weird secrets up his sleeve.”

Finally, we have Joe Manganiello (werewolf Alcide Herveaux), who shares that this season we will see a new pack, one he dislikes.  There will also be tension among him and some shapeshifters.  Speaking of tension of an entirely different sort, when asked, “Are you going to get along with the faeries and the witches?”, he slyly responds:

“Well, Sookie being a faerie, yeah — I’d like to get along with her.”

Only one more day, Truebies!  Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride!

Kristin Bauer Appears on Good Day LA

June 24, 2011

All Talk on Season 4:

Kristin Bauer (Pam) on Good Day LA, June 2011This week, Kristin Bauer van Straten, who plays lady vamp Pam, appeared on Good Day LA. A sneak peek of Season 4 was shown at the start of the interview which alluded to the fact that Pam’s maker, Eric, may be missing in action.

Besides a slight wardrobe malfunction on Kristin’s behalf and talk of Stephen Moyer’s mishap at the Toyota Grand Prix, the talk turned to how Kristin finds working with all the good-looking male actors on True Blood. Her sarcasm was evident in her reply:

“Oh terrible, I mean all the guys are just torture on the show. I mean Stephen and Ryan and Sam. It’s ridiculous.”

The talk then turned to the psychology behind the vampire craze as well as how HBO manages to blend Sookie, as a human, into the surreal world of make-believe.

But for all the latest talk on Season 4, you will need to watch the video yourself:

True Blood: Season 5 Actor Needed

June 24, 2011

Actor to Play a Military Character:

Todd Lowe as True Blood's Terry BellefleurWhile Season 4 has yet to start for True Blood, there is talk of a new character for the series. HBO is on the lookout for an actor to play a military friend of Terry Bellefleur (played by Todd Lowe).

It seems that this character may turn up as early as the Season 4 finale, but will stick around for quite some time into Season 5. The character appears to have played a major part in Terry’s life, having saved it twice before.

Now all we need to know is if this character will be human or not?

Season 4 Sees a Regular Character Turn Gay

June 24, 2011

Who Is It Going To Be?

True Blood Season 4 poster-redIt has been revealed that one of the major heterosexual characters of the hit HBO show, True Blood will be turning gay for Season 4. There is no word yet on who that character is going to be but there will be a romance. Could it be one of the characters in this photo?

Michael Ausiello, from TV Line, has this to say about the big reveal:

“I will say that, having witnessed the big reveal, it doesn’t feel gimmicky. In fact, after the initial shock wears off, I imagine you will do what I did and go, ‘Yeah. Makes total sense.’”

With only a few days to go until Season 4 starts – it will be interesting to see who it is. Any guesses?

How to Make Season 4 Not Suck

June 21, 2011

Waiting Sucks, But Will Season 4?

True Blood Season 4 poster-redAccording to Adam Wright from TVDoneWright.com, there are six key points our fave show, HBO‘s True Blood, should focus on in order to NOT suck this season:

Bring back “Season One” Tara.

Poor Tara, she’s had a rough few seasons hasn’t she? She went from the quick-witted best friend who we loved to see give people a good tongue-lashing, to a mind-controlled puppet in Season Two, and a frightened victim who pretty much breaks down in Season Three.

We have to agree.  Although Rutina did an incredible job and the role was intense, Tara is the human female role model in this show. We need someone to stand up and be proud for us!

More Jessica!

There’s no one on the show more underutilized than Deborah Ann Woll who plays Jessica. Last season she was pretty much wasted in a break-up storyline that lead to them getting back together. Oh, and she has to deal with crazy Mama Hoyt.

We here at TrueBloodNet.com LOVE us some Jessica too! What a talented actress Deborah is and that Jessica and Hoyt love story is all that gets us through some of the horrible things that happen on True Blood!

Focus on the core.

Sookie, Bill, and Eric. They are the core of the series.

The problem with Season Three (again) was that there were too many storylines that took away from the core.

TrueBloodNet.com agrees with this sentiment too. The question is, how do they focus on all the great actors and characters we love and still focus on the core? I sure wouldn’t want to see less of Sam or Lafayette! And we’re looking forward to more Joe Manganiello too. But in our hearts, the Sookie and Bill love story was what made us want to watch this show, over and over and over. We understand the story line is going to evolve. But we hope not to see a pathetic, sad Bill moping around. Maybe Evil Bill will be enough for Bill lovers. Time will tell.

And before you Eric lovers get on us, we appreciate a tall blond Viking now and then too. Pam and Eric are some of the greatest sexy, scary comedy out there. In fact, we’re excited to hear we’ll be seeing more of Pam this season. Can’t wait!

Maybe the answer is we don’t need a lot of new characters any more. We realize the season is almost in the can, but we don’t see how True Blood can add even more characters next year and still do the characters we love justice. In the books is one thing, there were hundreds of pages to deal with all the charcters, but there’s only 12 episodes per year of True Blood, hardly enough time to tell a decent story as it is. That’s just our two cents.

Be sure to pop over to TVDoneWright for the rest of his great analysis! He’s got more to say and it’s interesting and insightful. And just remember, the wait is almost over!
