So, who are these celebrities that I will be chatting to for TrueBloodNet? Well, as per the recent email sent from Club Fangtasia headquarters, it was announced that Pam (Kristin Bauer) has been summoned by The Authority and can no longer attend. Holly (Lauren Bowles) has unfortunately been caught up in one of her very own wiccan spells and will not be released in time, which means she will no longer be attending either. But there is still a super line up to keep even the most avid True Blood fans happy!
Replacing Pam is the fabulous Tommy Mickens (Marshal Allman), which is sure a fantastical feat since he was killed in a previous season! Luna (Janina Gavankar) has also graciously decided to replace Holly and is shape-shifting into a bird as we speak in order to make it to Australia before the 4th of November. Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), Lafayette’s brujo boyfriend is also confirmed as attending – his whole body and not just his head! And, finally, Ginger, AKA the screamer, (Tara Buck) is confirmed as well. Let’s just hope we can hear the music over her blood-curdling wails!
Want me to ask the celebrities a question on your behalf? Then let me know in the comments below and I’ll see what I can do.
Make sure you check back here regularly in order to read the exclusive TrueBloodNet interviews with the stars of True Blood as well as my recap of the Club Fangtasia Halloween party!

Reverend Steve Newlin goes from L.O.D. to The Authority:
Michael McMillian, who is known for portraying the anti-vampire reverend Steve Newlin on HBO’s True Blood, had his character turned upside down when it was revealed that Newlin had been turned into what he hated most: a vampire! On top of that, he proudly confessed to Jason Stackhouse that he is a gay American vampire…and that he was in love with him.
McMillian spent most of the season hanging around Russell Edgington played by Denis O’Hare, causing mayhem and destruction. However, we have yet to find out who is maker is.
One thing many True Blood fans don’t know, is that McMillian is one of the writers of the True Blood comic book series. He has published comic books for two years now.
McMillian on playing a villain:
I just loved the idea of playing this right-wing Christian evangelist who hated vampires. It was such an out-there idea and such a great character, but also something that I thought was really relatable and really relevant to today. It was a really fun, satirical role.”
Did he know he would be back for Season 5?
“No, I didn’t know for sure. All I knew was that I hadn’t been killed and that’s usually a good sign on True Blood. If your character hasn’t met the true death, there’s a good chance you could make it back.”

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer Celebrate the Births of a Boy and a Girl:
Stars of the HBO series True Blood, Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) and Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton), have been hiding out since the birth of their twins back in September. They have yet to officially announce either the babies’ names or their genders.
While the ultra-private couple won’t be debuting their new family on any magazine covers anytime soon, the US Weekly October 22nd issue features Ms. Paquin in its ‘Body After Baby’ article. The magazine reveals only that the happy couple welcomed the birth of a twin boy and girl.
The proud parents have made no official comment, but Mr. Moyer recently said that his wife and kids were doing “great”. We wish the new family health and happiness, and eagerly await any official announcement they might be willing to share.

Venice International Film Festival Features Mr. Skarsgård’s Film, “Disconnect”
On September 3rd, the Venice International Film Festival premiered ‘Disconnect’. The ensemble cast includes Alex Skarsgård, who plays Viking vampire Eric Northman on HBO’s True Blood. ‘Disconnect’ tells the story of several people searching for human connections in the modern world of electronic social media. The festival featured the film in its ‘out of competition’ category.
Mr. Skarsgård stars with Paula Patton as a grieving husband and wife who become victims of identity theft. This multi-thread story is about the impact of social media on several interrelated characters. Eventually, all the various strands converge.
Through a seamless integration of technology into the narrative, ‘Disconnect’ makes the point that our social consciousness has not kept up with the growth of that technology. The characters are so overloaded by social media, they have become disconnected, and are searching for a human connection with the people right in front of them.
‘Disconnect’ is scheduled for release in the U.S. in April 2013.

The Fearless HBO Drama Adds to the Vampire Phenomena:
True Blood has touched almost every taboo topic from sex to voodoo. It’s no wonder they chose politics and religion for the premise of season five!
The complex vampire politics that dominated this most recent season were brought to life through the new character of Roman Zimojic played by Christopher Meloni. This terrifying Authority leader fiercely believed in a moral coexistence between the vampires and humans and carried out his belief through the vampire movement of “mainstreaming.”
The political aspect of the show seemed to come at an appropriate time for creator Alan Ball. He said:
“Some of the things being said by some people during the Republican primary were so horrifying to me that I thought, ‘What if vampires wanted a theocracy? What would that look like?’ Whenever anybody thinks they know what God wants and wants to apply that to government, whether Americans or the Taliban, it’s kind of a terrifying thing.”
Although religion had been touched on in past seasons, such as Steve Newlin’s (Michael McMillian) ardent Fellowship of the Sun religious group and Jesus’s (Kevin Alejandro) family voodoo, the vampire queen Lilith and her effects on the vampires of the show bring the fifth season to a whole new level.
True Blood continues to add to the vampire myth with its concept of vampires in a group as a race living among humans. Early myths portray vampires as simply humans under an evil possession, according to Mark Jenkins in his book Vampire Forensics. In Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the vampire is demonic, he abuses humans, and is quite sexual, preying on women. The myths seem to change and develop as they are passed down to other people and cultures.
In True Blood, however, as vampires suddenly “come out of the coffin” and live among humans in modern day society, they have broken the established order. Although the vampires of the show are not demonic as they have been portrayed to be in other vampire stories, they represent a mistreated, misunderstood race, especially when compared to other species (shape-shifters, fairies, and even humans) who have also shown how they cruel they can be.
As great as a concept as it is, the provocative HBO drama was not the first to introduce a vampire society. It’s also seen in Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire. In her Vampire Chronicles, readers drew parallels between the vampires and the gay community of real life. Rice retorted that her book was “bigger than any gay allegory, and so is any gay allegory,” going on to explain:
“Gender influences everything but determines nothing! Vampires transcend gender. We as a modern people transcend gender, though we can never escape it. Ours is a time for which there are no precedents with regard to gender and freedom. Look in vain to ancient Rome. Look in vain to the Middle Ages. There has never been so much affluence, scientific knowledge and so much common awareness of violence and injustice. There has never been so much real wealth for so many, combined with instantaneous media confrontation of poverty and suffering. Some of us see life as a horror story, but a horror story with great, great meaning.”
True Blood also draws similar parallels to real society roles, politics, and religion throughout all five of its seasons, sometimes conjuring up more mischief than the characters can manage! With all of this behind them, can’t wait to see what the upcoming sixth season will bring to them!

Check Out Deborah Ann Woll in SELF’s Fall Denim Range:
Deborah always looks stylish, but apparently was bullied at school. As a result, she dyed her hair from her natural pale blond to the amazing red we all recognise today:
I dyed my hair red to say, I’m not a ghost who will fade away
Woll not only looks good, but she has a kind heart also. Currently, she is training for a half marathon after being inspired by her visually impaired boyfriend, who also runs in a bid to raise money for charity. Besides that, she also swims, camps and is into canoeing! So she looked right at home in these Navajo-style prints and boho inspired denim outfits.

Another True Blood Cast Member is Becoming a Parent:
Actor Denis O’Hare, who played vampire Russell Edgington on HBO’s True Blood, has announced that he and his husband are adopting a baby. Mr. O’Hare married Hugo Redwood last year in New York, and the happy couple is close to obtaining full guardianship of their foster son.
Mr. O’Hare says the boy is seventeen months and has been living with them since he was two weeks old. The True Blood nursery is filling up, since Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) and Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) welcomed twins earlier this year.
Congratulations to all the new True Blood parents!
