Title and Casting Info for Episode 7 of HBO’s True Blood

April 16, 2013

SPOILER ALERT! True Blood’s Episode 7 of Season 6 has a Title:

HBO's True Blood - Promo PosterAccording to SpoilerTV.com, the episode will be called ‘The Funeral’. This title alone has me worried for the cast members of True Blood!

Apparently a flashback to 1665 will occur. In this period of time, the plague was rampant and the casting call is for someone to play the role of King Charles II. There is also a second casting call for a scene occurring in a present day Tru Blood factory, although there is no indication yet as to what is required for this scene.

As an extra tasty little morsel, SpoilerTV are saying that Nicole’s mother, Mary, will make an appearance in this episode. Nicole is being played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell and you can find more information on this new character here.

Alex Skarsgård Puts True Blood On Pause To Appear On Live With Kelly & Michael:

April 16, 2013

The Talk Show Appearance to Promote the Film “Disconnect” Touches on New York, College and Broken Hearts

Askars_on_Kelly_&_MichaelOn Friday, April 9th, Alex Skarsgård made his second appearance on the daytime talk show, ‘LIVE with Kelly & Michael. Mr. Skarsgård plays 1,000 year old Viking vampire Eric Northman, on HBO’s True Blood. His appearance on the show was to promote his new film, ‘Disconnect (Festival Premier Of Film Starring True Blood’s Alex Skarsgård).

Mr. Skarsgård was introduced to an enthusiastic welcome. He greeted audience members with friendly palm slaps. Taking his seat next to Kelly, Michael commented that he was surprised at Mr. Skarsgård’s height. They stood shoulder-to-shoulder to determine which of them was indeed taller. While it almost appeared that Mr. Skarsgård was taller, it was most likely too close to call.

When asked if he owned a home in New York, Mr. Skarsgård answered that he lives in Stockholm and Los Angeles, since he is originally from Stockholm, and films True Blood in Los Angeles. He also explained that he had lived in New York for a brief time while attending college. Having met a woman just before leaving for New York, his stay was brief, as he dropped out of college and returned to Stockholm. Sadly, the relationship didn’t last long after his return home.

Teasers, but No Spoilers, for True Blood Season 6

Mr. Skarsgård explained a little about Eric, the character he plays on True Blood. When asked if he could tell anything about Season 6, he simply answered no. He did go on to elaborate that Eric will find himself facing some challenges because human have always been easy to kill. Now, they have found a way to fight back. What that way is, Mr. Skarsgård wouldn’t share.

In his film, ‘Disconnect’, Mr. Skarsgård plays Derek, a former Marine suffering from PTSD and drifting apart from his wife, played by Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol). After suffering identity theft, the couple find themselves drawn together as they track down whoever victimized them. A clip was played, featuring Mr. Skarsgård and Frank Grillo (Warrior), as they discuss what to do about the identity thieves.

‘Disconnect’ was in theaters in limited release as of April 12th.

True Blood’s Joe Manganiello to Star in Magnum’s New Campaign

April 15, 2013

Joe Manganiello Screams for Ice Cream:

Joe Manganiello stars as Alcide Herveaux in HBO's True Blood

Everyone’s favorite werewolf from HBO’s True Blood will be starring as a criminal extraordinaire for Magnum Gold ice cream’s newest web series!

Actor Joe Manganiello humorously explains:

“When my mother heard that I was going to be a spokesman for Magnum, she got really upset, but I said, ‘No, no, no, Mom—it’s ice cream.’”

He says that in the new campaign he’ll be attempting to:

“…pull off the heist of the century, but unfortunately—or fortunately—for me, I cross paths with another professional criminal also after the same loot.”

What loot? Only a Zac Posen-designed, one-of-kind 24-karat gold dress valued at $1.5 million, along with a lucky lady that Manganiello describes as a “beautiful Brazilian model.”

The actor was especially prepared for this role, admitting that he had some experience with theft from his younger years, all due to his love of comic books.

“This is completely dorky, but I used to read comic books so fast. I was a total comic book geek, and I used to read them so fast that I’d just steal them,”

Fortunately, the actor fixed his mistakes, no matter how overdue:

“I did go back in my late twenties and I found the store in Pittsburgh. The comics were still in my mom’s closet. I called up the store and it was the same owner and the same location and I went and returned to him all of the comic books that I stole.”

Another surprising thing the buff actor does: eat ice cream!

As shocking as that is, he adds:

“When I’m not running around naked in the woods.”

Can’t wait to see him doing just that during True Blood’s upcoming sixth season!

True Blood’s Main Maker Dishes About Sookie’s Swan Song:

April 11, 2013

Author Charlaine Harris Talks About “Dead Ever After”, the Final Southern Vampire Installment

Charlaine Harris, author of the Southern Vampire series of books, sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the end of Sookie’s story. ‘Dead Ever After’ is the 13th, and final book in the series that inspired HBO’s True Blood, and Ms. Harris says this is the conclusion she had always planned to write. Despite reader complaints or requests, Ms. Harris remained true to her own vision of the universe she created.

While Ms. Harris enjoyed the world she built around the town of Bon Temp, Louisiana, she feels that she has told all of Sookie’s story there is to tell. While she received much reader feedback, Ms. Harris knows her characters best and remained true to her vision. She is very excited to be moving on to new projects now.

“I’m sorry, this is the universe I’m the queen of. The readers can get pretty angry and tell me I’m writing the characters wrong. I hardly see how that could be possible. They’re my characters!”

Eric is a Fully Developed Character and Ms. Harris Loves How True Blood is Different from Her Novels

When asked about the sometimes angry reaction to how she has occasionally written the character of Eric, Ms. Harris responds that she believes she created a fully developed character, with both good and bad traits. Readers don’t always react well when one of Eric’s less attractive traits plays into the story she is telling.

Ms. Harris enjoys the True Blood series, especially in the way it differs from her books. She admires the writers of the show, and doesn’t believe she could ever successfully write a script for True Blood.

“But at the same time, True Blood gives you the same characters in a completely new environment.”

As far as future projects go, Ms. Harris has begun a brand new series. She has also written a graphic novel with Christopher Golden that is due to be released in December of this year. Currently, she is working on another anthology with Toni Kelner, and is editing a number of stories. As for what type of project Ms. Harris would like to work on if she had the chance, she would like to have one of her books made into a movie. Having learned how television works, that seems to be a logical next step.

For fans of the original books that inspired the series, True Blood, ‘Dead Ever After’ releases May 7th.

Luke Grimes to Play a Vampire in Season 6 of True Blood

April 5, 2013

His Character, James, is a 70s-made Vampire:

Luke Grimes will star as James the Vampire in Season 6 of HBO's True BloodAccording to TVLine, Luke Grimes will be playing James  the ‘Jim Morrison of vampires‘ in Season 6 of HBO’s True Blood. Grimes (of Brothers & Sisters fame) will apparently be playing a vampire who is smarter, spiritually and emotionally deeper than any we have seen on the show before!

Michael Ausiello from TVLine has put it very eloquently by saying:

Picture a cross between Jim Morrison and Gary Clark Jr. with even more of a poet’s edge. The dude’s every women’s dream come true, and he doesn’t even know it.

Sounds intriguing, right?

Grimes will make his debut as James midway through Season 6 of True Blood, so we will have to wait patiently for this new swoon-worthy character.
