True Blood Season 7: Rutina Wesley Talks About Being Tara

June 23, 2014

HBO’s True Blood Premiere Had Trubies Questioning What Went Down With Tara Thornton:

Rutina Wesley stars as Tara Thronton in HBO's True BloodOn Sunday night with the premiere of HBO’s True Blood Season 7, many fans – even though they had been warned – were still left wondering if they really did see the very final death of Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley). As a result, True Blood fans headed straight to Twitter demanding to know if the newly made vampire really was dead since, technically, we didn’t see her demise onscreen.  Tara’s maker Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) also seemed to be none the wiser about her progeny’s death, so fans pointed immediately to that as evidence that Tara might still be alive.

But actress Rutina Wesley herself has been quick to announce that Tara really is dead this time:

She’s dead. But I can tease that dead doesn’t always mean gone on True Blood.

she told told Entertainment Weekly recently. She goes on to explain that the short stint we saw in Episode 1 (entitled Jesus Gonna Be Here) of her mother Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) high on V might not be the last time we see Lettie Mae claiming to ‘see’ Tara, that there may be more of Tara’s story line unfolding and therefore the opportunity for visions and/or flashbacks of Tara. This Tara, however, will be a gentler version of the one we know and love.

And how did Rutina react when she received the news that her character would die in Season 7:

I think it’s great. I think somebody had to go. To have a main character right off the bat go, that’s gonna bring everybody into the show. It’s like, “Okay, and the show has started.” It’s kind of like the catalyst for everything else that’s gonna probably happen… They’ve given me such an incredible journey on this show that I’ve never had any complaints about what they’ve written for me. So when I found out, I was just like, “Okay, great. Let’s get it started. This is the final season. We can’t all make it to the end.” You wouldn’t have a show. There wouldn’t be any drama. It wouldn’t be True Blood if somebody didn’t die.

As for how Pam will eventually react to the death of her newly formed progeny and lover, Kristin had this to say:

“I think that it informs a lot of [who] Pam [is for] the rest of her season. She already chose to go look for Eric over staying with her progeny at the end of last season, but she didn’t imagine that she would die. But she did abandon her, and I think that only ups the stakes for Pam, because now she really has to find Eric, she has no one else left… We’ve only seen two people in seven years that matter to Pam, and Tara became one of them.

So it appears it won’t be an easy season for Pam this year – but is it ever?

True Blood Season 7: In Memoriam [SPOILER]

June 23, 2014

True Blood Season 7, Episode 1 and Already We Say Goodbye:

End of the Line True Blood Season 7 Promo posterFor fans who have not seen HBO’s True Blood Season 7 Episode 1 (entitled ‘Jesus Gonna Be Here’), you may just want to skip away from this post until after you have viewed the episode.

Last chance guys…

Okay, so I am guessing you have either seen the first episode, or you are happy to read ahead through the spoilers about Episode !

So, it is with a heavy heart that within the very first episode of True Blood Season 7, we have to bid farewell to Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) – and right when it seems she could have made amends with her mother too!

Many fans are happy to see the death of a character that has bought them more grief than joy over the years, but, for others, there are a great many tears. This is not the first time we have seen the death of  the smart mouthed bestie of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin); at the end of Season 4 she was shot, but Sookie acted quickly in Season 5, and had Tara turned into a vampire.

This time it seems like her luck is well and truly up.

Although, as fans have already pointed out – why didn’t Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) notice the death of her progeny? Even though we see Tara’s mom, Lette May (Adina Porter) covered in what looks like vampire goo, we still have to ask: is Tara really, truly dead this time? Well, according to Kristin Bauer van Straten, you will just have to tune in to True Blood Season 7 Episode 2 to find out why Pam didn’t ‘feel’ Tara die…

RIP Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) in HBOs True Blood Season 7

True Blood Premiere Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 1 “Jesus Gonna Be Here” Recap

June 23, 2014

So, here we are – at the very last premiere return of HBO’s True Blood! And this is what went down in Season 7, Episode 1, entitled Jesus Gonna Be Here:

  • Rutina Wesley stars as vampire Tara Thornton in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 1 (entitled 'Jesus Gonna Be Here')Fight scene – yeah, we knew it was going to start this way, but it turns out more people are being taken rather than slaughtered! Kevin (John Rezig), Arlene (Carrie Preston), Holly (Lauren Bowles), Jane Bodehouse (Patricia Bethune) and Sam’s (Sam Trammell) new love, Nicole (Jurnee Smolett-Bell) are among those taken – thanks Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) for that tip off! Sam and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) try to follow them but soon return empty handed.
  • Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) goes all matrix on a Hep-V vampire behind in order to save her mother, Lettie Mae (Adina Porter).
  • Wait, is that someone whistling? Seems it is, and it’s the magic ‘make the Hep-V vampers disappear‘ whistle too!
  • Sookie (Anna Paquin) finds Lettie Mae covered in goo – Tara is dead – WTF?! *sobs*
  • Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) finds out about Tara but still promises to protect Adilyn (Bailey Noble). Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) isn’t too keen on this notion, but he jumps out of the pan and straight into the fire with Bill (Stephen Moyer) and they head off in search of Holly.
  • Why is everyone dogging on Sookie – she didn’t cause this mess! What, even Alcide, really???
  • Oh look, it’s new James (Nathan Parsons)!
  • Sam and Vince ( the other candidate for mayor of Bon Temps) have an argument over Sam being a dog. Vince (Brett Rickaby) eventually agrees to keep quiet about Sam – for the time being.
  • Bill tells every humanto take their allocated vampire and go home. A very drunk Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) gets assigned James as his vampire in residence. Bill then discusses where these Hep V vamps might be nesting and rounds up a group to check out a few abandoned places.
  • Sam thinks he’s exempt from the vampire/human rule, but takes one home anyway… I feel a little uncomfortable about his vampire and I don’t know why :-/
  • Alcide calls Sookie, but she throws her phone away into the woods rather than answer it.
  • So Sookie thinks it’s safe walking through the woods at night after the Hep-V attack? Guess the dead girl she stumbles across thought the same thing too. But that Sook, she just ignores that body and keeps on going… Sookie must be real mad to ignore a body like that…
  • Pam! YAY it’s Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten)! Oh no, why is she playing Russian roulette with vampire killing bullets in Morocco? Okay, so it’s to find out information about Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) – now that’s progeny dedication for you.
  • Adilyn and Jessica have a sweet little chat about all the horrible stuff that has happened between them, boys and what not; basically chewing the fat like a couple of BFFs – even if Adilyn does take a step back as Jessica approaches… Whoa! Hang on a minute -that’s a Hep-V infected vampire approaching.
  • Sookie and Alcide have a little argument and Alcide goes off to bed. But that’s okay because Sookie mops for a bit and then goes and apologises to Alcide and they ‘make up’.
  • Jason and Violet (Karolina Wydra) have a chat about Tara on the way to their rendezvous point. Whoops, seems someone’s already at the abandoned place they are going to search… Low and behold, it’s Vince again. Jason and Violet (mainly Violet) have words with them and they are shortly on their way
  • It’s Lafayette smoking weed. Even funnier is the fact that James is too! Wouldn’t it toast him slowly from the inside? Anyway, we get an insight into who James really is here. Lafayette approves, and that’s all we need to like James version 2.0
  • Jason gets all cranky because he hasn’t gotten laid yet, so he yells at Violet and then they finally get jiggy. On top of the police cruiser. Hello gratuitous crotch shot!
  • Jessica is still protecting Adilyn from the Hep-V vamper. She convinces the fairy to feed of her, so Jess will always know where she is.
  • Lettie Mae is tripping on Willa’s vamp blood and is stressing that Tara ain’t in heaven and needs her mamma’s help. Well, that escalated quickly – in reverse. Lettie Mae is asleep now. This gives the good reverend and Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire) a chance to chat. In the end, the Rev. lets Willa move into the church basement.
  • So Pam is still doing the ‘where in the world in her maker‘ game. She now has a treasure map to follow.
  • Bill and Andy go to the abandoned slaughter house – yep, it’s a vampire nest.
  • Far out – it’s Vince again. This guy is REALLY starting to annoy me!
  • Bill convinces Vince to let Andy go.
  • Andy won’t go, says he wants to kill Bill himself, so stupid Vince hands over his gun – and Andy pulls it on the other gun wielder there before diffusing the entire situation and ‘encouraging’ Vince’s group to leave.
  • The stolen group (Arlene, Holly, Kevin, Jane, Nicole etc.) are listening to the Hep-V vamps consume a human – turns out they are all holed up in the basement of Fangtasia!
  • Then Kevin gets eaten…
  • Andy and Bill chat. Andy’s still pissy at Bill but spared him because he wants help getting Holly back
  • Oh crap – dawn is coming and Jessica is still staring down that Hep-V vamper! Adilyn’s onto it though and invites Jessica in. Luckily Jessica doesn’t drain her. She’s sizzling around the edges though, or is that just the lesbian undertones heating up the room?
  • The Hep-V vamper bursts into flames
  • We’re in church now. Sookie arrives and it get very awkward very quickly – especially when Lettie Mae gets stuck into her. So Sookie gets up to leave before thinking twice about it and giving all the church members a piece of her mind! Poor Sookie, all she wants to do is help.

And that concludes the very first episode of HBO’s True Blood Season 7! What did you think of it? Were you sad to see Tara go? When do you think we’ll get to see Eric again? And will Sookie be able to help Bon Temps? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

True Blood Season 7: Newcomer Chelsea Ricketts Talks

June 22, 2014

Chelsea Ricketts Plays Vampire Lucinda in True Blood Season 7 Premiere:

Chelsea Ricketts stars as bad girl vampire Lucinda in HBO's True Blood Season 7Recently Chelsea Ricketts chatted with Complex.com about what it’s like to play bad girl vampire, Lucinda, in HBO’s True Blood Season 7.

While she can’t give a lot away about the role Lucinda will play in Season 7, she did have this to say:

I’m a bad vampire, a bad girl, and my name is Lucinda. I’m one of the infected vampires. The only thing I can really say, if I had to describe this season in one word, is that it is epic.

Sounds like a fun character to play, that’s for sure! While she can’t divulge a lot about her story line, she was happy to let it slip how great it was to work with the likes of Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse), Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) and Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman) together in the one scene!

Hmmm… now that’s interesting!

And how did Chelsea manage to score such a lucrative role in True Blood’s final season?

My manager called me and said I had just been offered a recurring role onTrue Blood. I was freaked out. I had been watching the show since the pilot.

It seems like Chelsea is a HUGE fan of shows such as HBO’s True Blood and AMC’s The Walking Dead – so this appears to be a dream role for her.

TrueBloodNet wish Chelsea Ricketts all the very best with True Blood Season 7!

Tara Buck Screams Her Way Through The True Blood Season 7 Premiere

June 22, 2014

Ginger The Screamer is a Fan Favorite – and This is Why:

Tara Buck stars as Ginger the Screamer in HBO's True Blood Season 7Fans of Ginger the screamer (played by the delightful Tara Buck) were in for a treat at the HBO True Blood Season 7 premiere event. Not only did Tara look gorgeous and cheerful in a sunny yellow gown, but Marc Malkin from E!Online managed to get her to let rip one of her trademark screams!

Tara Buck has – after six seasons on the hit show – been made a series regular in True Blood’s final season. And thanks to an interview Tara did with Huffington Post recently, it seems we might finally get to find out Ginger’s backstory. Tara had invented her own personal version of her character’s backstory right from her very first appearance on True Blood, but she was glad to see that Ginger was finally given the chance to become a more rounded character, with depth and richness – even if it is only for the very last season!

You can view the video by clicking on the video image below (this will take you to the E!Online website) – but you might want to turn the volume down first!

True Blood Season 7: Put Your Best Foot Forward!

June 21, 2014

Shoe Artist Molly M. Colliers Shoes to Appear on True Blood:

Pam's (kristin bauer van straten) pumps HBO True BloodNow we all remember that fabulous conversation between Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and her maker, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) about her ruined pumps, but could you imagine something as dear to you as Pam’s shoes were to her, becoming a part of HBO’s True Blood Season 7? Well, for shoe designer Molly M. Collier, this wish certainly did come true!

Molly was already a huge fan of True Blood and, as a result, last year she tried to get her shoes on the hit show. Alas for her though filming had already been completed for Season 6, so she had to sit on her hands and wait it out until True Blood Season 7:

I love the show and I already had done some shoes inspired by ‘True Blood‘ for a local (fashion) show.

Once more, she was turned away due to filming and costuming already organised. Considering this was to be True Blood’s final year, she thought that would be it for her desire to have her shoes featured on the show. And yet, not long after that final turn down, HBO contacted Molly with the news that they were in the process of adding some new scenes – and the rest, as they so famously say, is history!

While Molly cannot disclose exactly when her shoes will appear in True Blood Season 7, she did have this to say:

They told me I can’t disclose what episode the shoes are going to be in, but I’d pay close attention toward the end of the season.

Molly’s shoes are based on St. Louis designers Luichiny’s double-platform, stiletto-heeled shoes, with her own particular splash of inspiration: red painted slashes and ruby rhinestones.
