‘True Blood’: Alan Ball and Charlaine Harris discuss Sunday’s shocking death of [SPOILER] —

Statements from Ball and Harris

Entertainment Weekly’s EW.com has spoken exclusively to True Blood executive producer Alan Ball and Sookie Stackhouse series author Charlaine Harris about the death of Claudine in this past Sunday’s episode. Many fans of Harris’ original novels were surprised by the death scene, which doesn’t occur until much later in the book series. But there’s more left to see in Sookie’s fairy world:

“After everything that was going on with the fairies in the first episode, I think we wanted to sort of put a pin in that, but obviously it’s not over,” says Ball. “I felt it would have more impact if it was someone we knew as opposed to just a random fairy.”

And Harris is okay with the change.

“If [Ball] can be gracious to me, I can certainly be gracious enough to wait and see where he’s going.”

  • Have to say though the episode where her fairy godmother was killed has one of the all time best lines…*Yes Eric, you drank the whole fairy!*

  • So far I don’t like the show’s interpretation of the fairies and fairyland at all ….Claudine was such an amazing complex Kickass character in the books….well I guess we will wait and see…after all Alan Ball hasn’t let us down yet!

Hi Lizzie, I don’t think we saw Sookie’s full reaction yet.  Only a little snippet to keep us hanging.  I’m sure they’re be more than just that response.  In a way, I think Sookie was a little relieved as well.  She didn’t want to go back to fairyland.  I’m wondering if they are going to go the triplet route with Claudine/Claude/Claudia.  Maybe Claudia got killed and not Claudine????  We will see.

I was more shocked at Sookie’s response to Eric murdering her godmother.  She has the nerve to be angry at Bill for killing Uncle Bartlett but plays down this murder.

I’m shocked.  Claudine was one of my beloved characters from the books and she helped Sookie through a lot of bad times.  I sure hope AB has something up his sleeve for this one.
