Alexander Skarsgard Stars in Straw Dogs Remake

Alex Gives New Meaning to the Charlie Venner Character

Alexander Skarsgard True Blood Eric Northman

When filmmaker Rod Lurie decided to remake the 1971 film Straw Dogs, he cast Alexander Skarsgard before he had exploded as Eric Northman in HBO’s True Blood. In an interview with with The Daily Orange, Lurie explained his thought processes about the remake and  comments on early doubts about Alex being able to translate the role:

“We did exceed the original in the casting of Alex. Alexander in person is unbelievably sweet, and very Swedish. But he translated into something absolutely extraordinary.”

Lurie feels that Alex brings better understanding to the role of Charlie Venner for the viewer and thinks that:

“You’re going to see the emergence of Alexander as one of the biggest stars in the world. I doubt I’ll be able to get him on the phone in two years”.

Those of us that are Team Eric undoubtedly already see him as a big star and will relish the chance to see him on the big screen when the movie debuts around the time that we will probably be watching the season 4 finale of True Blood, September 16, 2011.

I have no doubt that Alex will rock this role, and I hope the movie does well. I still remember the original and hate suspenseful movies so don’t think I can see it. Same goes for Priest. I would love to but think I will get a coronary if I did! I will wait for both to come out in DVD! Yeah! I’m a chicken!

Yay for Alex!!! We all knew he’d be a big star and I guess the whole world will be seeing that soon too. Kudos to SM as well. He will be another big star soon. And, yes, please don’t forget your TB roots. We need you all to finish the series. Don’t forget about us in the “peanut gallery”. LOL.

WOW…it took them that long to finally figure out what we already knew! Can’t wait to see it (even though he’s supposed to be playing a bully), and also see Stephen in Priest (hope he has a bigger scene then the trailer showed)! I’m so happy for all that has had TB be a catalyst to further their career. Just please don’t forget to stay with True Blood for it’s duration!!! PLEASE don’t leave us fans down by leaving TB!! ***Hyperventilating just thinking about it*** LOL!!
