Rise Up Christchurch:

Anna Paquin (True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse)Native New Zealander Anna Paquin was on hand May 22 to help her home country.  The True Blood star showed her support via a live feed from Los Angeles.  A number of celebrities (including Martin Henderson and Rachel Hunter) donated their voices, their goods, and their time to aid Christchurch in rebuilding after the devastating earthquake that struck on February 22, 2011.  The event in Los Angeles was held at the home of the New Zealand consulate-general.  The 12 hour telethon, broadcast live on Maori Television, included celebrity challenges and musical performances.

When asked how the devastation in her homeland made her feel, Paquin answered:

“It does make you feel like you’re very far away.”

In the end, worldwide donations totaled $2,561,015.30!  What a feat!
