Anna Paquin, Sookie Stackhouse, True BloodAnna Paquin has been a star in Hollywood for many years, having won an Oscar for her roll in The Piano at the age of 11. Two years ago she won a Golden Globe for her role as Sookie Stackhouse on HBO‘s True Blood. Anna sat down with Famous Magazine to talk about her role on True Blood, working with Alan Ball, and a cause that is close to her heart.

With Season 3 drawing to a close, True Blood has never been more popular. Sookie is going through some changes this season and is showing more of her tougher, take-charge side. The character is a popular costume choice for drag queens dressing up at Halloween and Anna says that she takes it as a compliment, even if some of them look better in the shorts than she does.

In the article Anna says that what drew her to this roll is that Sookie is not a victim and that she keeps her positive outlook on things. The cast and crew of True Blood are all very close and Anna says that she cannot think of a better way to spend the next few years of her life. She describes working with Alan Ball by saying:

“Everybody loves Alan.  He’s so incredibly talented at what he does.  Even if its 4 am and everyone’s covered in mud and blood and whatever, he still makes sure everyone is having a good time.”

Anna, who married her co-star Stephen Moyer this past week, talks to the magazine about a public service announcement she did for the Give A Damn campaign where she announced that she is bisexual. The campaign, which is part of the True Colors Fund, organized by Cyndi Lauper, is dedicated to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality and Anna says that this is a cause that is close to her heart and she felt it was the right time for her to get involved.
