Joe Manganiello Credits Fiancée as Good Luck Charm

January 26, 2011

True Blood Star Talks Superstitions

Joe ManangielloYou’re not a real Truebie if you didn’t know True Blood star Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux) is a huge Steelers fan, but to what does he attribute the recent win that is leading them to the Super Bowl this year? His good luck charm, of course.

While he decked himself out in a Steelers jersey, it is who was by his side that Joe believes helped his team to victory. That’s right: Reggie may have had Kim, but it’s fiancée Audra Marie who had Joe shouting in joy as the Steelers gained another win on Sunday.

Okay, Joe loves his fiancée, but she can’t really be a good luck charm, can she? Does Sookie (Anna Paquin) have fairy blood? The couple actually met in 2009 at the Super Bowl, which the Steelers also won.  Joe explains:

“She was actually down there with some of her girlfriends for some of the festivities, and we met on our way into the Commissioner’s Ball that year…Football was kind of how we met.”

Come Feb. 6 there is no doubt Joe will be howling and clawing for another Pittsburgh victory. The actor, who was introduced to fans as a werewolf in Season 3, reveals that football as well as superstition is in his blood:

“I come from a long line of very superstitious Steelers fans…It can get a little weird. My dad is a very superstitious Steelers fan, and we all have to stay in certain positions because [he’ll] make sure that you cannot move if the Steelers are winning. We care a lot, but it’s a little OCD”

There’s no doubt who the superstitious were will be watching the Superbowl with. Audra Marie, the Steelers are counting on you!

A True Blood Newbie Teases her Character Over the Airwaves

January 16, 2011

Janina Gavankar Talks True Blood on LA Talk Radio

Janina Gavankar

The newest blood to join the True Blood cast is Janina Gavankar and she’s already dropping hints about Season 4. Fans will come to know Janina as Luna, the newest shifter in Bon Temps as well as her being the first Native American character on the show. She chatted with her good friend Sheena on LA’s talk radio program the Sheena Metal Experience during  the two year anniversary of her radio show.

Though she wasn’t into weres and vampires when she was a girl, Janina looks forward to reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels to see who the Luna in the books is, although she wants to create her own version of the character. The actress who is of mixed Indian and Dutch descent even enlisted the help of make up artists to changed her skin tone to add a red tone she doesn’t naturally have in order to really show the character’s Native American blood.

As with all shape-shifters and weres on the HBO series, Janina does have to get naked, but she isn’t too bothered by it. For her it’s all about the character and the fact that transforming from one vessel to another is the shape-shifter way. She does reveal that viewers will get a lot more insight and history on shape-shifters and she even gets a scene with shifter Tommy played by Marshall Allman. That’s right Truebies! When we left the season finale, Tommy’s fate was unknown, but it looks like Janina has spilled the beans and fans everywhere are relieved that she did!

All About the Music

Aside from loving her character, what else does she love about True Blood? The music, of course! Janina herself is talented singer and she, like all fans of the show, sees how much the music influences and creates the scenes we all know and love.

It seems the world of the shape shifters is expanding with Season 4 and with Janina’s dedication to creating a well developed character, the who’s better competition between vamps and shifters will be heating up.

True Blood Starlet Sings Her Way to a Record Deal

December 30, 2010

Evan Rachel Wood May Sign with Interscope Records:

Fans of True Blood and of Evan Rachel Wood have wondered when the star will bare not only her fangs on the HBO series. After her stunning singing performance in the film Across the Universe, many of Evan’s fans were hoping that the Queen of Louisiana would have the same angelic voice.

While Sophie-Anne may not be sinking her fangs into a mic any time soon, it seems that the actress may be spending the hiatus before Season 4 in the recording studio. Sources say that the Evan is very close to signing a deal with Interscope Records, which is the same label Marilyn Manson is signed to.

Negotiations are still in the works, but it seems news of the deal will make its way to fans in the upcoming weeks. The execs see Evan as the woman who can break the actress to singer crossover jinx that has plagued many starletts including Lindsey Lohan.

It’s great to see that execs are finally seeing what True Blood fans have known all along: Evan Rachel Wood is bringing the glitx and the talent of old Hollywood into the future!

Allan Hyde Talks to Danish Bazaar

December 7, 2010

The Man Behind Godric Will Rise in Other Films

Though Godric died in Season 2, True Blood fans can’t seem to let him go. As a result, his ghost follows Eric Northman around through much of the 3rd season, while giving good advice to the Nordic vampire. The 20 year old Danish actor, Allan Hyde, recently did an interview with Danish Bazaar where he discussed what he thought about playing the oldest vampire on the HBO hit series, as well as his views on Hollywood and some great fun facts fans may not have been privy to.

The young actor from Valby was on his way to finishing up his high school education when his agent insisted he move to the U.S. He dropped out of St. Anna High School and landed the monster role of Godric on True Blood.

When asked about his new found fame and the perks of being on such a great set he noted,

“I just thought ‘man, what is it that I have gotten myself in!?…It was so great, there were assistants everywhere. I just touched my stomach and there was immediately a person standing next to me who offered me something to eat. I stood up, and they quickly came over with a chair”

The role not only granted Allan access to assistants, but to a whole new world of fans. Allan is simply appreciating the love and support fans have for him. As soon as he appeared on True Blood, his friends request on Facebook jumped to 3,000 people within three days.

Although, Godric died on the show, he has been resurrected through flashbacks. Though he may not be a staple on the HBO series, Allan is still living in LA and has been cast in the upcoming major films: The Hobbit and Pirates of the Caribbean 4. He noted,

“It’s absurd. I thought I at least would be going to acting school to do what I do, but now I get to do it,although I do not have training.”

While Allan is extremely thrilled with his budding acting career, he does miss Denmark and Danish women. He mentioned:

“LA is filled with prom queens who want to be actresses. There are so many superficial and incredibly fake girls, they all look alike – they have just been given a Hollywood makeover. You learn that you rarely get to know people. It’s all superficial. Danish women are much stronger, more available and down to earth. They don’t just have fancy drinks. They may also drink a beer…When you come home and see happy, natural women bike around everywhere, is hard to understand why there is so much hype over Hollywood. Danish women are so incredibly beautiful and honest. They are genuine, and also look real. They do not have that plastic shell, which everyone in Hollywood has. They have character.”

Aside from loving Danish women, there is a lot to the actor American fans may not know. For example, he voiced all of Ron Weasley’s parts in the Harry Potter movies. Since living in LA, he’s kept his diet as clean and natural as possible, eating up to six meals a day. Though he’s tired of Facebook, he admits it’s the best way to keep in touch with his friends and family back home. He has two iPhones, one Danish and one American. He’s never tried drugs and doesn’t see a need to try them. Finally, he would love to wear a pair of red speedos; for him, you’re not really a man if you can’t wear one and walk around comfortable with who you are.

There is no doubt the Allan is strong and has a very focused nature. Fans adore his portrayal of Godric and are anticipitating great things from this young actor. It’s obvious that, although he is only 20, he is smart and hard working.

The Perfect Holiday Presents for True Blood Fans

December 3, 2010

So Much Awesome Vampire Gear to Choose From

It’s no surprise by now that if you ask a True Blood fan what they want for Christmas, they say June 2011, which is the month when Season 4 of the hit HBO series returns. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t time travelers, so we need to find something else to help our friends and ourselves during the 2010 holiday season.

To keep your personal vampire fan satiated and creative, how about suggesting the True Blood Winter/Holiday Fan Art Contest? I-LOVE-TRUE-BLOOD on has recently marked a milestone with its 200th member. To celebrate they’re having their first contest!

The contest is asking for art dedicated to True Blood/SVM with a winter/holiday theme.

Fans can submit as much art as they want as long as it’s between November 5th 2010 and January 10th 2011. Voting will be open to members, contributors and admins from January 11th, 2011 to January 21th 2011. And what’s a good contest without prizes?

The 1st place winner will receive 500 DeviantArt points, the 2nd place winner 350 points, and the 3rd place winner will get 150 points.

Get Yourself or Someone You Love a Great Gift

Speaking of prizes, what if your True Blood fan isn’t into creating art? Of course, there is the great swag on HBO, but I’m guessing most fans already have everything from your basic Merlotte’s apron to Eric Northman inspired jewelry on their list. However, there are some great and inexpensive finds for the vampire lover in one’s life.

Does your True Blood fan have all the Charlaine Harris books, but refuse to read them in the day light, citing that it wouldn’t set the fangtastic mood? How about getting them an ‘I Heart Vampires’ Flex Neck Book Light? It works everywhere for up to 30 hours. Your vampire lover will have lots of illuminated nights without the threat of sunlight.

But if the True Blood lover in your life can’t stay up all night because they have a job, try keeping their nine to five as enjoyable as possible with a 2011 Vampire Trivia Box Calendar. Not only does it have trivia questions from True Blood, but also includes questions about Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Twilight.

If trivia excites them, another great gift would be Vampire Smarts. This game is versatile as any creature of the night can play alone or with their friends, family, nest, coven, etc. While playing, vampire fans will most likely get thirsty. Their choice of drink? Another great gift: Vampire Wine.

Whether you’re playing a game, or lounging in bed enjoying Anne Rice, this wine comes in Merlot and  Pinot Noir. If wine isn’t your drink of choice, they also have vodka, vampire chocolate, vampire coffee as well as a wine they’ve named True Blood. Sounds like a fangtastic way to hang out before daylight appears.

As dawn approaches, your True Blood fan must be exhausted from all the wine, trivia and reading they’ve done. It’s only natural that they’ll fall into a deep sleep. To keep them dreaming of Eric and Bill, get them the Vampire Pillow. Need I say more?

Let’s give a big thank you to Angie (Riogirl9909) for sharing all the great True Blood inspired things fans can do while they wait for the return of True Blood in the summer. It’s safe to say, she’s made the holiday season something True Blood fans can sink their fangs into.

Zap2It Gives Respect to TV’s Veteran Characters

November 18, 2010

True Blood’s Wonderful Veterans

In honor of our veterans, fans not only celebrate the soldiers in their lives but the ones on TV. True Blood joined the festivities in a list of top veterans on television, created by On the list were characters like Seeley Booth from Bones, Teddy Altman and Owen Hunt from Grey’s Anatomy, Andy Botwin from Weeds, and Kip ‘Half Sack’ Epps from Sons of Anarchy.

Also on the list was our favorite southern gentleman and Bon Temps resident vampire, Bill Compton, played by the dynamic Stephen Moyer. Before becoming Lorena‘s prey, Bill was fighting for the South in the War of Northern Aggression. It was on his way home that he fell victim to Lorena and became a vampire, which isn’t all too bad given that he met and fell in love with Sookie Stackhouse as an undead man.

Another True Blood character who made the list is Iraqi vet Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe). Though suffering from PTSD, Terry has managed not only to protect Bon Temps, but also become a fan favorite, with his sweet disposition and honesty. And even though Arlene’s baby may not be his, he loves her enough to take care of her and her kids.

Terry’s not only the guy you want in the trenches with you, he’s the guy you want with you all the time. Season 3 may have dealt him some hardships, but he’s stood his ground and overcome them. Will he be able to keep all his promises in Season 4, especially with the mess Arlene seems to be already getting into?

While this list is fun, it also reminds us of the wonderful soldiers who have put their life on the line to protect America. Let’s get out their Truebies and show our veterans a fangtastic time.
