True Blood Star Mariana Klaveno Talks About Lorena:
To celebrate the release of Season 3 of True Blood on DVD, Tube Talk (Digital Spy) did a Q&A with Mariana Klaveno (Bill’s maker, Lorena). She revealed why she thinks True Blood is so popular, her joy in playing Lorena, the head turning scene, and what she’s up to now.
Some of the reasons Mariana thinks True Blood is so successful is because people get so involved in the multiple levels the show offers. From romance, suspense and horror. She says:
“There’s all kinds of genres and concepts that the writers weave into each episode and I think that’s what gets people so addicted.”
When asked what she liked about playing Lorena, Mariana stated that she loved her costumes, and working with such “top notch” people. She describes the cast and crew as being one big lovely family, saying it was a blast to go to work everyday.
“I love playing people that are broken, that are beautifully flawed, as I like to call them. She was such a tragic character in many ways and I love playing that. I love people who are inches away from completely falling apart. I think that’s a fun, electric character to take on.”
Have you ever wondered what it was like to film the “head turning” scene? Apparently, it took an entire day — at least ten hours. Although she started out feeling very nervous and uncomfortable, by that point, delirium had set in. Everyone was in hysterics. She explains:
“I mean, you laugh. I think that’s what saves you. You have to keep your sense of humor about you when you’re doing these crazy, dark, twisted – forgive the pun – scenes. You really have to just laugh between takes because that will lighten the mood and you can’t take it so seriously. Luckily, Stephen is a hilarious person so he was able to keep me laughing.”
She adds that after first reading the script for that scene, her first thought was, “’Oh my God, my poor parents!”. Her poor parents, indeed.
So, what is the lovely lady up to now? She has worked on a few things, but is being selective about what she chooses. Saying True Blood spoiled her, it’s difficult to pick what to work on next. However, she did work on an independent film titled No God No Master which should be released soon.
What did you think of Lorena? Would you like to see her back on the show, perhaps in a flashback? Sound off in the comments, Truebies!

True Blood Star to Play Julianne Moore’s Husband:
Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood’s vampire sheriff, Eric Northman) has joined the cast of the upcoming dramedy What Maisie Knew, an adaptation of the novel by Henry James. The film’s story centers on Maisie, a 6 year old girl:
“Enmeshed in the bitter divorce of her mother, a rock and roll icon, and her father, a charming but distracted art dealer.”
Playing Maisie’s mother is Julianne Moore (Chloe) and her father will be played by Steve Coogan (Night At The Museum). Skarsgård has signed on to play Julianne Moore’s new husband. The film is currently in the pre-production stage and is being produced and paid for by Red Crown Productions, with Scott McGehee and David Siegel directing. Shooting has been scheduled for August, in New York City. There should be plenty more to hear about this upcoming film in the next few months.
What do you think, Truebies? Is it mere coincidence that Skarsgård has chosen two husband roles in as many years? Could he be ready to settle down? Leave a comment if you live in the NYC area and plan on trying to catch a glimpse of the action.

Interview with The Moment Blog:
Deborah grew up in New York but now lives in Los Angeles. When asked about which coast she likes most, the East was the winner! She says that she is “A pedestrian at heart.”
When preparing for her role as baby vamp Jessica, she states that she did a lot of research on the science of being a vampire in the True Blood universe. She speculates that they aren’t truly cold, simply cold blooded. She goes on to say:
“I think we are cold blooded like snakes. We are the temperature of our surroundings and can be warmed by contact with warm objects. A hot rock, warm water, a warm-blooded body. Doesn’t that make a human lover seem extra enticing!”
She even lets us in on what’s in store for Jessica in season 4! We can look forward to some conflict from within Jessica and what it means for her relationships. Deborah also just wrapped a film called Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You, in which she plays a college student. She tells us that her character is:
“Grappling with her identity — primarily in relationship with her family. She’s very confused and makes some mistakes along the way but, don’t we all?”
She doesn’t have a preference of film over television yet. In her spare time, she enjoys carpentry and home improvement. She also advocates for The Choroideremia (CHM) Research Foundation. Her boyfriend suffers from the disease that is essentially making him blind, along with other male members of his family. There currently is no known cure. She works to raise awareness and funds. More information about CHM can be found here.

Dishing on Nudity in Season 4 and His Friend James Franco:
“The things that happen with the relationships between people and creatures are so unpredictable and severe, it’s wild.”
He also tells us that Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur) will be a much buffer man than the detective we’ve come to know. He couldn’t tell us if Chris will have any nude scenes, but our dear Hoyt won’t be taking it all off any time soon.
While he was in New York, Jim hung out with his friend James Franco. The two became friends back in 2002 when he states that they both felt like outsiders in the Hollywood scene. He even credits James with helping him straighten out his life saying:
“He was just so honest. You know, I was a young guy, 21 or 22 years old, that was very troubled, and he didn’t mind saying to me, ‘You’ve got to get it together.’ And he wasn’t that much older.”
He also says that his friend’s working habits aren’t just for show. He says he has a genuine curiosity about life, and values his own, and is just truly interested about life and that is a part of their friendship. Jim will also have a role in James Franco’s upcoming Sal Mineo biopic. Shooting for that will begin in May or June. While James will direct, it is unclear if he will also act in the film.
