Jason Stackhouse Gets Crazy on Season Four of True Blood

January 19, 2011

How Can They Top Bill and Lorena?

Jason Stackhouse HBO True Blood PosterTV Line’s Michael Ausiello recently shared some interesting information about season four of HBO’s True Blood. He teased readers by asking if they remembered season three‘s shocking sex scene between Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and his maker Lorena Krasiki (Mariana Klaveno)…and really, who could possibly forget that moment? It is certainly in everyone’s top ten jaw dropping moments from any season of True Blood. Well, according to Ausiello,

… word around Bon Temps is that there’s a sequence in the upcoming fourth season that will have folks buzzing just as (if not more) loudly. The character at the center of said scene? One Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten).

That certainly sounds tantalizing, doesn’t it? Many fans will probably interpret this to mean that things between Jason and his new werepanther love interest, Crystal Norris (Lindsay Pulsipher) are about to get interesting.

When asked about Alcide Herveaux‘s (Joe Manganiello) relationship with Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Ausiello had this to share (straight from Alan Ball himself):

“I think Alcide has already developed real feelings for her,” responds exec producer Alan Ball. “But there are certainly obstacles to overcome for both of them.”

Season four is shaping up to be full of romantic tension. I don’t know what I’m looking forward to most. What about you?

Brand New Game of Thrones Trailer Released

January 18, 2011

HBO Releases a Sneak Peek:

Fans eagerly awaiting HBO‘s new series Game of Thrones were treated to a brand-new trailer this weekend, and it was full of exciting reveals. HBO Game of Thrones Iron Throne There were extensive views of the Iron Throne, the much contested, yet remarkably uncomfortable, throne of the ruler of Westeros. The trailer is a round of musical chairs, except there is only one seat, and all the players want it. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Jaimie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy), Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), Eddard Stark (Sean Bean), Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), and Petyr Baelish (Aiden Gillen) all take their turns at the throne. Now, we don’t know which of them is actually vying for the seat (unless, of course, you have read George R.R. Martin‘s epic novels) but there is clearly some tension amongst all of them.

This must be the most terrifying throne ever – and yet it is a much desired place of honor. The throne has just as much of a role in the books as do the main characters, and it certainly looks like HBO is sticking with that theme. The overall feel of the trailer is very suspenseful, very dark, very moody. If you haven’t watched it yet, check it out below! And keep waiting – April 17 will be here soon.

Charlaine Harris Confirms a 12th Sookie Stackhouse Novel

January 18, 2011

Excellent News for Fans of the Novels:

Charlaine Harris Author of Sookie Stackhouse NovelsCharlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, recently confirmed to fans on her Facebook page that there will in fact be a twelfth Sookie novel. She began work on it recently, but commented that she “should have started it in November, but I had to take some time off.” With Sookie novels usually debuting in May, this means that fans can look forward to Dead Reckoning this May, which will be the eleventh book, and then the as yet untitled twelfth book in May of 2012 (that’s just speculation, based on the release dates of all the other novels, and Harris’s own comment that “Sookie is ALWAYS in May — the full length novels, that is.”)

What’s Coming Out This Year?

This year, Harris has several projects slated for release that should excite both fans of her Sookie Stackhouse novels and die hard Truebies. As previously mentioned, Dead Reckoning, the eleventh Sookie novel, will be released on May 3, 2011. The first chapter is available on Harris’s official website. The cover, released in November, gives plenty of tidbits to speculate about – Sookie is alone on the covers, surrounded by burning pages falling from the sky.

In September of this year, The Sookie Stackhouse Companion will be released. Originally slated for an earlier release, it got pushed back due to confusion amongst the contributors. The books promises an all new Sookie novella, and an exclusive interview with Alan Ball. Although Harris has stated the release is scheduled for September, Amazon.com has the official date listed as August 31. 2011. I’m sure no one will complain about getting their hands on it a day early!

Both books are available for pre-order now. Are you looking forward to them?

True Blood’s James Frain Hides His Identity

January 16, 2011

His Kids Don’t Know His Alter Egos:

True Bloods Franklin MottTrue Blood‘s James Frain, who plays the lovably despicable Franklin Mott, doesn’t tell his kids what he does at night. The British star, who has two children with actress Marta Cunningham, won’t allow his children to see his movies.  Frain has not even admitted to them he is an actor, noting that he wants to “preserve their innocence” and doesn’t want them to learn about Hollywood life before they need to.

Frain also commented on his kids, saying,

They’re still too young to know what it is that I do for a living. My three-year-old daughter still thinks people on the TV can see you…Besides, they haven’t seen anything I’ve done because it’s all been so inappropriate

I’d say for sure that Franklin Mott is not how I’d want to introduce my young kids to a job! I can think of few characters – vampire or human, less likely to be a good role model. Or more likely to give a kid nightmares.

True Blood’s King of the Villains

January 15, 2011

The Vampire King Reigns Supreme:

True Bloods Russell Edgington RecliningTrue Blood’s own Russell Edgington (played by Denis O’Hare), the Vampire King of Mississippi, was recently voted the reader’s choice best TV villain of 2010 in BuzzFocus.com’s “Best of 2010” poll. He beat out Agent June Stahl (Sons of Anarchy), Alice Morgan (Luther), Anna (V), and Jimmy O’Phelan (Sons of Anarchy). The King of Mississippi overwhelmingly claimed his throne, with 56% of the reader’s votes. And let’s face it – Russell stole every scene he was in. It was almost impossible not to love him – what a spectacular villain he was.

Other Nominations:

Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) and Franklin Mott (James Frain) were nominated in the category of “Most Awkward Couple/Most Sexual Tension”. Shockingly, they placed third out of five possible couples! I’ve never seen a dysfunctional couple like those two before.

True Blood itself placed  third itself, behind Vampire Diaries and Supernatural, for “Best Undead Series”. That’s another category that is hard to believe. Not to knock Vampire Diaries (which I’ve never seen) or Supernatural (which I love), but really? True Blood delivers the real action, romance, and drama every week.

Those were the only other categories True Blood was nominated in.

True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll Shares Secret Vampire Knowledge

September 20, 2010

Everyone’s Favorite Baby Vampire Chats With Rolling Stone About What She’s Learned

Deborah Ann Woll as babyvamp Jessica Hamy Photo Credit: HBODeborah Ann Woll sat down with Rolling Stone’s Vanessa Grigoriadis and talked about what she’s learned from playing Jessica Hamby on HBO’s True Blood. When asked if she thought sex would ever become pleasurable for Jessica, Woll said that perhaps if Jessica could “let go and allow it to be that moment of pain that leads to greater pleasure, then that’s a very adult, grown-up way of looking at sex.” She aded that she wasn’t sure her character was at that point yet, but hoped she one day would be.

Woll has grown up no stranger to blood and death. She shared that she has always loved science fiction, fantasy, and horror. She’s “been a big nerd [her] whole life”, and added that she loves horror and monster movies. Salem’s Lot is on her current reading list (a re-read for her, she commented).

The vampire myth was something that Woll researched quite a bit before taking on her role as one of the few characters added to the show by Alan Ball. She explained:

Back in the 18th and 19th centuries, they didn’t have a lot of definite experiments that would tell you for sure, “this person is dead,” and I imagine there were probably plenty of accidental burials where people woke up and they had been buried. So they would find scratch marks on the insides of coffins and assumed that this was reanimation, that people were coming back to life, and they didn’t know about decomposition. But the fact is that during decomposition, when there were gases in the body, the body bloats up, and the skin decomposes faster than the nails or the teeth. The skin recedes, which makes the nails look longer, makes the teeth look longer, makes the hair look longer. At the same time, as the inside juices liquefy, they come pouring out of the lips and the nostrils in a red juice, so when you open a casket after a body has been in there for a couple of days, it looks like it’s engorged. It looks like it’s fed, it looks like it has a rosy cheek, like it’s been alive. There’s even blood issuing from its mouth. You can imagine how scary that would look to someone who was maybe a bit ignorant of how bodies change after they die.

The interview moved on to discuss what other monsters drank blood, and what separates humans from animals. “Not having fangs is something that really defines us as humans, separates us from animals,” she said, continuing, “Most animals have enlarged incisors, and we do not. Something about being a vampire reawakens that animal side of millions of years ago.”

And lastly, she let us all in on a little secret. The interviewer asked Woll what supernatural being she would be if given the choice. Her response:

Someone asked me about it at Comic-Con this year. I decided I’d like to be a witch, because I feel like there’s a humanity still alive in there, and also there’s a skill, a learned skill that’s kind of interesting. Plus, you don’t have to be an eternal 17-year-old like I’m stuck with as a vampire. That gets a little tiresome after a while.

True Blood Stars Share Their Wishlists for Season Four

September 20, 2010

Screenshot from video of Alexander Skarsgard being interviewed by MTVThe Stars of HBO’s True Blood Share What They’d Like to See Next Season

Some of the actors of HBO’s True Blood recently spoke to MTV about their wishlists for Season Four. Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds), Jim Parrack (Hoyt Foytenberry), Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefleur), Lindsey Haun (Hadley), Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler) and Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman) all spoke candidly about things we may or may not see when True Blood returns again.

Jim Parrack was willing to “fight a witch right now, tonight”. Nelsan Ellis joked that Parrack’s alter ego, Hoyt Foytenberry, could even be a witch. “A good witch, like the white witch in ‘Wizard of Oz,’ ” Parrack quickly added.

After speculating on what supernatural beings were coming next, Todd Lowe assured fans he was happy playing a human and not eager to become supernatural himself.  Lindsey Haun, however, was rather exited to begin exploring her character’s supernatural side. She commented:

“We haven’t really touched on her magical side. She has some fun with being a witch, and she also turns into a vampire, so I’m really excited to get my own set of fangs; if that happens.”

The always entertaining Alexander Skarsgard had plenty to say as well. His first wish? “I’m just happy if I get to come back next year,” he quipped, with a sardonic smile. And he had more to say on his castmate’s nudity as well. When asked if others should get in on the nude magazine covers (as Skarsgard, Stepehen Moyer, and Anna Paquin did recently for Rolling Stone) he lamented, “I think that’s just fair, right? Because we’ve done it now, so I think they should all get naked.” We can all hope, can’t we?

Carrie Preston had plenty to share about her character, Arlene Fowler. She said:

She’s a little narrow-minded. She’s sort of designed to be ridiculed because of that. I take it as a challenge to make her a full, well-rounded, grounded, real, human being. The views that she expresses on the show are quite valid, which is, vampires really shouldn’t be around our children, and I think that’s a valid thing with them being cold-blooded killers. They make it seem like they’re so sexy and everything but meanwhile they have these urges sometimes that they can’t control. I would like to see her [Arlene] get involved in some kind of the supernatural in some way. I’m just saying that’s what I would like. I’m not giving anything away. No one has said anything to me. But the supernaturals seem to have a little more fun.”

Watch the video below to see all the details of the actor’s interviews! What’s on your wishlist for Season Four?
