True Blood Wins Tubey Awards
August 26, 2010
The Tubey Awards were announced and some familiar faces from True Blood were on the list. Tubey Awards are awarded to tops shows in many divisions that were voted for by the fans from the website Television Without Pity. In each category the staff would pick who they thought would take the win and then who the fans actually voted for as the winners. Godric, who was played by Allan Hyde, was welcomed on this list as the “most welcome new character” and he also beat out Sun and Jin from Lost for “best death scene”. Pam from Fangtasia, who is played by the beautiful Kristin Bauer van Straten, was voted “Most Wrongly Underused Character”. While Pam’s ruined pumps didn’t win for “best performance by an inanimate object” it was the Television Without Pity staff pick. The pumps came from a moment where Eric Northman asked Pam to look for whatever had attacked Sookie in Season 2.
We are sure that this is just the beginning of awards that will grace the actors and actresses of True Blood.

Kristin Bauer Van Straten Talks About Episode 9 “Everything is Broken”
August 17, 2010
Kristin Bauer Van Straten is known for her talent and big heart; she splits her time between acting and charity. However, what about Pam, the character she plays in True Blood? As much as fans love Pam, there’s a lot that they don’t know about her. In Season 3, Episode 9: Everything is Broken, fans get a little more information about this vampire fashionista.
Recently, Pam was in danger of being tortured to death for her involvement in selling V. Eric was frantic to save her because he’s her maker, but what was their relationship before: lovers or friendship? When shooting began, this wasn’t very clear, but with Episode 9, it has become apparent that the relationship between Eric and Pam is a paternal one, and that Pam considers Eric a father figure.
It’s clear that Pam thinks Eric is better maker than Bill. A reluctant maker is awful because they end up not teaching the things a new vampire needs to know. Bill still has feelings of guilt for creating Jessica, while Eric never had those feelings with Pam. He created Pam with love; love for her and for being a vampire. To Pam this makes Eric is a great maker, but her bond with him may be her weakness.
The Season 2 Blu Ray gives a lot of insight on Pam and her history with Eric. It’s here fans find out she’s 100 years old. She was stuck in a small world world that kept crippling limitations on women. Pam was very strong in character and didn’t like the world she was living in; she chose to go against the grain by being secretively promiscuous. For Kristin, Pam
“sought Eric out and pursued being a vampire and never looked back.”
Aside from her past, Pam’s sexuality and love interests are also things fans talk about. While some fans argue over which guy is better for Sookie: Eric or Bill, others think Sookie should give Pam a chance. Kristin thinks it’s an interesting idea:
“Two women who understand each other, who could go shopping together for eternity? Sounds kind of awesome.”
These creative imaginative scenarios are possible because Pam has been a part of True Blood since the beginning. Many characters come in only to be killed off by the end of the season. Kristin’s glad her character is in all the books so far, which makes it a little harder for her to get the ax. She hopes to stick around, but the books and the show, are not carbon copies of each other. About the characters who die Kristin says,
“Every table read where two or three go, there’s sort of a hush over the room.”
Both her good friends Mariana Klaveno, who played Lorena, and Michelle Forbes, who played Maryann, were both killed off. Though she misses having them around the set, Kristin insists that they have a great time when they all hang out off set.
With so many characters being killed off, the stakes are higher for the characters still alive. Pam’s integrity and loyalty will be tested further. Her physical strength will also be tested in the future episodes. Will she be as strong physically as she is mentally?
Hopefully so, given that Pam has become a fan favorite. In a world that forces people to censor their thoughts and feelings all the time, it’s refreshing for fans to meet a character like Pam, who has none of these restraints; she’s straight forward and unapologetic. She’s true to who she is. And she does it all in a great pair of pumps and an expensive pink cardigan.

Kristin Bauer van Straten Chats About Her Wardrobe on True Blood
August 10, 2010
Season 3 of True Blood has been fast paced and exciting with lots of twists and turns. Fans of the show were very happy when Kristin Bauer van Straten, who plays Eric’s second in command Pam, was bumped up to a series regular this season. Kristin talked with Popeater.com about some of the things we can expect to see the rest of the season, Pam’s wardrobe, and ”man hands”.
In the interview Kristin reveals that we will see a lot more of Eric and Pam’s relationship and more of their history will be revealed. When things hit the fan for Eric, Pam will go to great lengths to save him. One downside for Kristin to the outfits that Pam wears is maintaining the body to look good in those outfits. In order to achieve that kind of body it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Kristin says that she started going to ab classes more regularly once she went to her first wardrobe fitting. She says that she does not work out with other cast mates ,but she asks around to find out what each person’s routine is so she can get new ideas. After a wardrobe fitting she tends to hit the gym even harder so she looks her best in her outfits. She tells Popeater:
“The other day I realized as long as I’m in this business, I’m going to be hungry. The camera really does add 10 pounds. I’m trying to stay under the weight I want to look like on TV. It’s a good incentive to stay slim and is probably adding years to my life.”
Kristin married Abri van Straten last year and says that married life is going well. As most couples know marriage takes a lot of work and she says that even though her schedule is crazy she keeps things exciting and fresh. When asked if they plan to have children soon, Kristin replied:
“I had this crazy, busy life before I even met Abri, became a series regular on ‘True Blood’ and got more involved with environmental work. When I added those three things, my life got extra hectic. My husband and I are still getting to know each other, so adding kids right now — especially with Pam and that wardrobe — wouldn’t work. I’d love to learn how to juggle it all. Maybe in a few years, we might move into that area.”
Finally, as many fans may know, Kristin appeared on an episode of Seinfeld many years ago. So how does she feel about being known as the woman with “man hands”?
“It is so awesome. It was a wonderful show, and one of the most hysterical concepts I’ve ever heard. It was so fun working with Jerry [Seinfeld] … and for the record, I don’t have man hands.”

Kristin Bauer van Straten on the Evolution of Pam
August 8, 2010
We had to go a couple of episodes without seeing Pam on True Blood, but she came back into the picture with her characteristic flair in “Hitting the Ground” this past week. Kristin Bauer van Straten talks about that great closing scene, among other things, in an interview with Movieline before the actress goes on vacation for a month with her husband, Abri.
Kristin describes her point of view for the showdown between Russell and the Magister in the basement of Fangtasia:
It was a pain in the bone in the back of my skull and the base of my butt! It was really funny, because through that [final scene in the last episode] where Denis O’Hare was so good and Zeljko [Ivanek] was unbelievable, I was lying there staring at the ceiling for seventeen hours, listening to it.
What becomes just minutes on the final product takes much longer to put together. For example, Kristin describes that cool moment where the King, in a flash of vampire speed, releases Pam from the silver chains and puts the Magister on the table, in reality took twenty minutes to film.
Kristin seems to enjoy being on True Blood even more in Season 3 than she did before. She has grown closer to members of the cast, especially Alex, Anna, and Stephen, and working together is easier and more fun after all the time they’ve spent with each other on set. Her status upgrade to series regular has also meant that Pam gets to do more than deliver the clever one-liner and leave:
You know, it’s really wonderful for me to see these episodes because Pam gets more and more vulnerable and she gets put in some very dire emotional and physical circumstances. That was so rewarding and fun for me — it felt like a new door had been opened and I got to find out a whole new layer about who she was.
And as always, Kristin loves the outfits she gets to wear. She says that getting fitted for a new Pam outfit is like “Christmas morning”–she knows it’s going to be amazing, but she’s always so excited to see the clothes.
For the rest of Season 3, Kristin talks about how things escalate in the vampire world because of the King’s plans. Pam gets caught up in that and unfortunately doesn’t have much more mentoring time with Jessica.
We look forward to seeing what happens to Pam in the last five episodes of the season, and wish Kristin a safe and happy trip!

VIDEO: Jessica’s Special Guest on her Blog
August 2, 2010
Vampire Jessica asked vampire Pam to be her special guest on her blog to answer some questions from her readers. Pam answers a fashion questions with her wonderful dry wit, but as you see tires of answering anymore. Just love seeing these two outside the True Blood episodes.
VIDEO: Kristin Bauer van Straten Says Pam’s Loyalty is Tested
July 31, 2010
She looked cool, calm and collected, and Jethro Nededog of Zap2it.com asked Kristin Bauer van Straten some excellent questions about Pam, True Blood’s sassy and sophisticated vampire.
First of all, Pam has become a regular this season and Kristin’s reaction was, “It’s like being invited to the best party ever!” Joking about starting off being tortured with her shirt open, Kristin said this is now a topic of conversation with the women – read the script, look at wardrobe and know it’s time to stop eating and go work out.
Revealing a little about what’s in store for Pam, Kristin said major shifts are happening in the vampire hierarchy, and the dominoes are about to spiral downward. Pam is being pushed emotionally and physically. We find out so much about her relationship with Eric.
Kristin said she didn’t think Pam had an achilles heel but we find she can be vulnerable. Both Pam’s and Eric’s lives are at stake (no pun intended). Her loyalty is tested to the max. And her integrity. We get to see Pam’s humanity and who she cares about. According to Kristin, everybody needs someone and Eric is it for Pam.
Asked what she’d like to see happen next season (Season 4), Kristin referenced an occurrence in Charlaine Harris‘ book 4 in the series. Eric loses his mind and Pam and Sookie have to take care of him.
If Eric had to choose between saving either Pam or Sookie, who would he choose? She didn’t answer, but said we would find out this year.
Making fun of Kristinalways hanging on to her purse, Kristin joked that in real life it has everything near and dear to her. From food to cellphone (she even took photos of Alexander Skarsgard next to his cardboard likeness and emailed it to him), her cherry chapstick is very special.

VIDEOS: Joe Manganiello and Kristin Bauer van Straten Talk To MTV
July 30, 2010
Without the fans, Hollywood wouldn’t exist; without Truebies, True Blood wouldn’t be such a success. While this is true, fan love can sometimes get a little awkward.
Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolf and Sookie’s bodyguard Alcide Herveaux, gives MTV an example of an awkward moment: a fan who wanted to be licked by a wolf, preferably him. Was she trying to be flirty or was she serious? Who knows, but Joe says the moment left both parties speechless and confused. Good thing Joe had other fans to focus on.
Asking to be licked may be a bad request from fans, but asking to be bit might be worse. Kristin Bauer, who plays the sassy and tough vampire Pam, answers these teeth sinking requests with a laugh and an adamant no. However, she is really very sweet to her fans; in her eyes, they’re the reason she has a job and appreciates their devotion.
So what does Kristin do for her fans to show her love for them? She teases them with True Blood exclusives, of course. In a separate interview with MTV, Kristin confesses to what the 3rd season of True Blood will bring for Pam. For fans who purchased the True Blood Season 2 Blu Ray DVD, Pam’s history and how she came to the decision to be turned is revealed. Apparently though, fans watching season 3 will get see who Pam is, more of her history, and how loyal she is to her maker Eric.
The following video will only play in certain areas:
