According to TVGuide.com,
“Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) will take a liking to her so much so that she’ll boot Alex (Justin Chambers) from her cases.”
Looks like she enjoys playing competitive, tough women! Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.

Video: Interview with the Multi-talented Janina Gavankar
November 2, 2011
The Music/Info-geek and Tech-nerd Talks About Her Career:
The multi-talented and very beautiful Janina Gavankar (Luna Garza) was recently interviewed by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s National Director Zino Macaluso about her True Blood role and social media/technology.
The tech-mogul / actress / musician was classically trained in music before falling in love with acting in high school. In college Gavankar majored in Theater Performance and minored in Music Psychology. She loves to continue using music as a performance medium and was involved in Kanye West’s “Love Lock Down.” Her first paying gig was in a bank commercial for Mellon Bank and from there, her resume is lengthy. Before True Blood, she played a major role in Showtime’s The L-Word (starting in the 4th season, like True Blood) as Papi and in the unfortunately short-lived show, The Gates.
She said the most exciting thing, or the thing she loves the most about True Blood are the amazing writers and table-reads. She gets pumped about the awesome writing. When everyone sits down to read an episode together, she compares the excitement to an audience watching the episode for the first time. She also said that because she’s spent so much time in Shreveport, Louisiana she was able to create a rather lengthy mental back story for her TB character Luna.
Outside of her major work, she’s done a lot of social media work. She has launched a new website for new actors, she maintains a fan page on Facebook and JaninaGavankar.com and is constantly tweeting from @janina. She also claims to have been the first actor on Twitter, joining back in 2006 when “everyone still hated the word tweeting.” Her advice to everyone in the social media world is to “be authentic… The YouTube generation can tell when you’re faking it.” Also, this writer’s personal favorite Internet clip of Gavankar and mentioned in the interview, comes from Funny or Die called “Method Shapeshifting with Marshall Allman.” Check it out, it’s hilarious.
Below is the full interview, so if you want to watch a full hour of her bubbly self, feel free. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Denis O’Hare’s Take on American Horror Story
October 31, 2011
The Actor Opens Up About His Role as Larry Harvey:
Denis O’Hare’s exclusive phone interview with Collider is an insightful peek into the mind of the actor and the challenges of the role that he plays as Larry Harvey on FX’s newest psychological thriller, American Horror Story, which debuted October 5, 2011. The series has consistently improved its ratings since its pilot episode. Executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk appear to have backed the right horse in this competition to secure a faithful following.
The series is about a family of three who move from Boston to Los Angeles in an effort to make amends with their past, only to find out that they are not the only residents of their new home. They will be forced to face their fears, and their past, while living in a home that may have more secrets than they do.
Denis O’Hare plays Larry Harvey much like his character Russell Edgington, the King of Mississippi on HBO’s True Blood. It appears that O’Hare has an eye for selecting roles that are going to become huge hits.
When asked how he would describe this series to people he responded:
“It is difficult, I’ve said it’s like The Shining meets Twin Peaks meets The Amityville Horror meets Lars Von Trier’s The Kingdom. It’s got elements of all of that. It’s got the weirdness of the population of Twin Peaks, it’s got the crazy momentum of The Shining, and it’s got the haunted house, slow motion reveal of The Amityville Horror. But ultimately, it’s its own thing and it lives in the mind of Ryan Murphy.”
O’Hare assesses what kind of audience this show will draw in, and speaks very highly of his cast-mates:
“I think there’s a really big overlap between sci-fi and horror…When you’ve got unbelievable actors like Connie Britton, Jessica Lange, Dylan McDermott and Frances Conroy, you’re going to be drawing in a different dynamic. Jessica Lange, alone, raises the bar so high that it peaks people’s interest. Connie Britton, coming off the success of Friday Night Lights, certainly brings an audience with her. We may even get some vampire fans watching the show.”
If O’Hare’s performance in American Horror Story is anything like that of his role on True Blood, he is certain to gain a loyal following. He speaks of his role as Larry Harvey with a passion unique to many interviews that are out there. It is evident that O’Hare is completely connected to his character, and is excited to watch this character develop. The imagery that he uses makes it impossible for the reader not to be interested in this character. He refers to Larry as “a Dante-esque figure, stuck in the 5th Circle of Hell and struggling to get out.” He believes that “as the series develops, even what we think we know about him is not accurate.” O’Hare continues to create intrigue around Larry’s depth of character:
“Even in the pilot episode, we see Larry being a menacing, twisted, awful figure who then, during the scene with Dylan McDermott on the bench, becomes the object of pity who is absolutely a human character feeling incredible amounts of pain. That, to me, is fascinating.”
When questioned about whether or not he believes Larry to be evil he replies:
“To me, he’s definitely not evil. Evil is such a simplistic way to describe any character, be it Iago or Caliban, or any character from history. What I’m attracted to is the fact that he, like everyone, is yearning to be loved, to be released, to be redeemed, and to be at peace. Each episode only adds more complications to it. I’m always getting so much information that is new.”
Psychological thrillers attract a wide audience, the idea of the unknown, and the revelation of the human mind and how it works, is something that draws in the viewer. It creates questions in the mind of the audience and asks the viewer to search into the depths of their own souls to challenge the similarities that may exist between themselves and the characters portrayed.
O’Hare is asked if he is normally a fan of this type of genre, and his response draws on some simplistic comparisons that are both revealing and insightful:
“I’m not into what I would call torture porn, like all the Saw movies and those kinds of things. I find that repugnant. We have enough violence in this country that I don’t feel like I need to sit through that stuff, and I don’t see the point of it. But, good old-fashioned horror, I love monsters, I love creatures, I love beings, I love aliens. That’s more supernatural and more the stuff of fairy tales. Fairy tales are as ancient as we are. I love those stories. I think they’re really interesting because they always have more than simply the fright aspect. There’s something deeply psychological. When you think of Grimm’s fairy tales, they are deeply, deeply psychological. They’re so powerful, so bloody, and really, really disturbing. Think about five-year olds reading that stuff. Even Little Red Riding Hood is a really freaky story. Grandma is gobbled up by a wolf, and the wolf is going to eat the girl. That’s scary stuff. They’re about our deepest fears. And this show is about our deepest fears. It’s a way to exorcize them or understand them.”
On His Potential Return to True Blood:
In the finale of Season Four’s True Blood the audience is left with the jaw dropping revelation that Russell Edgington, the King of Mississippi’s stay in a concrete slab has been cut short — how, we are uncertain, but one thing’s for sure, the King is no longer a prisoner of Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård).
It is obvious that O’Hare is excited about a potential return to True Blood:
“I had been hearing rumors and things, but until I actually heard there was a script, in which they went to the parking lot and found a hole in the ground and chains, I wasn’t sure. I’ve been in contact with people from True Blood, and I’m friends with a lot of them, and Joe Manganiello, who plays Alcide, actually told me first. He was like, ‘Dude, there’s this scene where I go to the parking lot and you’re not there anymore,’ and I went, ‘Yes!’ I’m really thrilled, I love that family. Alan Ball is such a spectacular person to be around and to work for. I’m really excited to get to go back and join them, and I love the character. I can’t wait to pick up where he left off.”
I’m sure I speak on behalf of many True Blood fans when I say that we can’t wait for Denis O’Hare’s return to the show, to see how King Russell Edgington will inject himself into the lives of Sookie (Anna Paquin), Bill, and Eric, and unleash a whole new storm of madness, coupled with a deep desire to avenge the love of his life. In the meantime be sure to tune into FX on Wednesdays at 10pm to catch the all new American Horror Story episodes. For Canadian viewers you can catch the premiere on FX Canada this coming Monday, October 31 in a special Halloween premiere.
So Truebies, have any of you caught this new show? What do you think?

True Blood’s Lorena Krasiki Lives On
October 17, 2011
Bill’s Maker Makes the Top Ten List of Crazy Exes:
When remembering Bill Compton‘s maker Lorena Krasiki, be it fondly or otherwise, one word comes to mind: crazy. There’s little evidence to argue otherwise. Perhaps she was just madly in love with Bill. She still needed to be fitted for her own, vampire proof straitjacket. Instead she’s number 8 on “The 10 Hottest Crazy Exes From Movies And TV” on Complex.com.
Lorena has had some of the most memorable scenes during her time on the show, including the much talked about twisted sex scene between her and Bill. My personal favorite memory of her involves a plasma screen television. Even during her happier times, Lorena had a twisted sense of enjoyment. In season 2 we saw a flashback of her and Bill’s more interesting antics in which they have some of the bloodiest sex on the show.
Whether you love Lorena or hate her for getting in between Sookie and Bill, there’s no denying she was very entertaining. What are some of your favorite Lorena moments? Let us know!

A Little Birdie Told Me: True Blood Cast Members Attend Spooky Empire!
October 15, 2011
Sam Trammell, Kristin Bauer, and Mariana Klaveno Attend Florida Convention:
Truebies, I had the pleasure of attending Spooky Empire on October 7-9, 2011 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort. At the convention there were many actors, authors, and people in the music business. The weekend consisted of Q&As, Photo Ops, autograph sessions, parties where you could mingle with the stars, movies, seminars, and a zombie walk. Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), Kristin Bauer (Pam de Beaufort), and Mariana Klaveno (Lorena Krasiki) were among the attendees. I spoke with them while getting their autographs, they were very nice and personable. I had met Sam and Kristin at a previous convention. I asked Sam how his new babies were, and he said:
“They are doing great, they are 8 weeks now.”
Mariana was very sweet, I told her she was great on the show. Kristin is nothing like Pam on the show she is really sweet and nice, she was that way both times we met. If you want to get more information about Spooky Empire please visit the website here.

True Blood Star Evan Rachel Wood Thinks Sex Scandals Aren’t That Scandalous
October 15, 2011
New Film “The Ides of March”:
Evan Rachel Wood, True Blood‘s Queen Sophie Anne, is appearing in The Ides of March. This political thriller stars George Clooney, Ryan Gosling and many others. The film deals with many issues, including sex scandals, and according to Wood that’s fine. In a recent interview the actress quotes one of the most poignant lines from the movie: “You can start a war, you can bankrupt a country but you can’t sit with the interns.”
Wood does not consider sitting with the interns that scandalous:
“We make such a big deal about these sex scandals, which are actually the most natural things in the world and everyone has skeletons in their closet and it actually shouldn’t matter at all. I don’t want to know. People can do whatever they want with themselves and that’s fine. It has nothing to do with the way you conduct yourself at your job.”
The True Blood actress enjoyed working with director George Clooney “…I really like working with directors who are actors because you speak the same language.” Wood didn’t go method on this project; she relied on documentaries and information given by director George Clooney. Even though the film is serious, the making of it was very enjoyable. Wood describes the fun atmosphere Clooney created on set:
“And he made sure everyone was having a great time. I think he knows that if your cast and crew are happy then you’re going to get good work. That’s actually really rare. But that’s why I loved working with him.”
With True Blood over, chances to see our favorite TV stars are few and far between. Will you be heading to the movies to see Queen Sophie Anne in this political thriller? Do you think sex scandals are a big deal? Share you comments and thoughts with us in the section below.

Video: Denis O’Hare of True Blood Shocked by Finale
September 29, 2011
O’Hare Did Not Know About Nan, Tara or Jesus:
Apparently Denis O’Hare was just as shocked as the rest of us at the “bloodbath” which was Season Four’s finale. In his interview with PopSugarTV he compared the episode to the end of Hamlet — the famed Shakespearean tragedy in which everyone dies at the end.
When asked about the return of his character, PopSugarTV noted the changing power dynamics occurring in the vampire community. Where will Russell fit in? O’Hare said:
“He’s a very flexible character, obviously. He’s lived for 2800 years — he’s very good at sussing out where the political winds are blowing. I think he could go with anybody. He’s really the loner, not necessarily a joiner, but I could see him joining forces with whoever is capable. If Bill or Eric want to come on board, I’m sure that he could find an amenable situation. The Authority’s got an opening, so he could take that…”
The Authority opening that he referenced was of course, the (un)fortunate True Death to Nan. O’Hare went on to say how shocked he was about the death of Rutina Wesley‘s character, Tara Thornton and Kevin Alejandro‘s Jesus.
Beyond that, we’ll all just have to wait the eight months and watch what happens in Season 5 for the epic return of O’Hare’s Russell Edgington.
So, Truebies, who do you think let the King out of his cement grave? Any guesses? Share them with us below!
