True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Finale Episode 10 “Thank You” Recap

August 25, 2014

I can’t believe this is it. I can’t believe this is my last ever True Blood recap! Here’s what went down in Episode 10 (entitled Thank You) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) stars in HBO's True Blood finale Episode 10 (entitled 'Thank You')We start off pretty much where Episode 9 (entitled Love is to Die) ended; at Sookie’s (Anna Paquin). Her and Bill (Stephen Moyer) are having a chat about how Bill wants Sookie to have a life and how Sookie wants Bill to live. Then he drops a clanger on her: he not only wants to die, he wants Sookie to kill him! *starts wimpering* Turns out he has a reason for that. He figures if she uses her super fairy light ball once and for all, she will no longer be an attractant to all the supernaturals out there. Needless to say, Sookie is pissed…
  • Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) hatch a plan: release Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) and use that as a ploy to lure Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee) down into the dungeon so they can kill him and his Yazuka security guards. This plan actually works and we can say RIP to Mr. Gus, the bad guy that wasn’t really such a bad guy, just an annoying one. Sarah is really on the loose too, but that’s okay because Pam has given her some vampire blood and can track her like a bloodhound. Once that happens, Sarah does the only thing she knows how; try and talk her way out of the situation. Sarah tries to convince Pam to turn her into a vampire – to which Pam refuses, but more on that later…
  • Oh, and the Yakuza on the way to Sookie’s house? Don’t worry about them because Eric totally has a handle on it! *cue Eric jigging away to J-Pop in the car*
  • Jessica and Hoyt get married in HBO's True Bloof finale Episode 10 (entitled 'Thank You')So Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack) turn up to talk to Bill, but the table is turned when Bill goes all parental on Jess and insists Hoyt makes an honest woman of her. To which Hoyt agrees and we have an epic vampire wedding organized at vamp speed so Bill can walk Jess down the aisle. *This is the first time I really start bawling*
  • Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) is called in to officiate the wedding and Bill drops a bombshell on him: he is now the heir apparent to Bill’s estate. Andy doesn’t want it, but that’s okay because Bill wants Andy to rent it to Jess and Hoyt. For $1 dollar a month. Man, where can I get a landlord like that?!
  • Sookie has her own flashbacks in Episode 10. This time we get to see Sookie and Tara (Rutina Wesley) as kids. They’re all running in the rain and getting dried off by Gran (Lois Smith). Yes, Gran’s back! And she’s still giving out sound advice by telling Sookie that the only boundaries she has is the ones she sets upon herself.
  • Sookie goes looking to her brother, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) for some advice as to what to do about the kill Bill situation. Turns out Jason is just as surprised as the rest of us that his advice might be useful. But Sookie reads Bridgette’s (Ashley Hinshaw) mind while she’s there and lets Jason know that she is totally okay about him and Bridgette hooking up. Of course, Jason had no idea because he equates not having sex with ‘she doesn’t like me‘.
  • Speaking of Jason, he and Hoyt work things out and he is Hoyt’s best man at his wedding.
  • So, we are at this vampire wedding and Sookie is suddenly able to hear Bill’s thoughts. WTH?! Is Bill turning human? Is that how his Hep-V works now?
  • Sookie is still having a hard time working out whether to kill Bill or not, so she goes to see Reverend Daniels (Gregg Daniel) about it. He has as much good advice to give as Gran did, so Sookie is starting to come to a realization…
  • Sookie sitting on Bills coffin in the HBO True Blood finale Episode 10 (entitled 'Thank You')…that the True Blood finale is going to be all about a wedding and then a funeral. Sookie meets Bill at the cemetery where is grave is open and ready for him. There is much talking going backwards and forwards between these two and I am howling at the TV right now because I am coming to realize Sookie is not going to kill Bill with her fairy light, she is going to stake him instead! At least Bill is okay with that, because I am so not okay with it, and I’m not even Team Bill! And there we have it, Sookie in a coffin filled to the brim with Bill gloop and I am rocking and crying and eating Gran’s pecan pie with my bare hands. Guess that ‘maybe Bill is turning into a human‘ idea is completely moot now.
  • Fast forward to a year later. Wait, what? I’m still grieving over here! But HBO has a show to wrap up and they don’t have time for that crap. It seems Eric and Pam are shooting an infomercial about their new product: New Blood. They have a great little story about how Sarah got away, all except for a few stray drops of her blood from which they were able to synthesize a cure. Nice lying there Northman 😉
  • Oh, wait, is that Charlaine Harris? Why, yes it is!
  • Now it’s three years later and Pam is looking suspiciously like Sarah Newlin as they float their product on the stock exchange.
  • Oh, look, it’s Fangtasia. Pam is in the dungeon letting vampires take their New Blood straight from the source. Yep, Sarah Newlin actually survived the True Blood finale! But she’s now the antidote whore Pam promised in Episode 9. We also get another cameo appearance from Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) here because Sarah is now officially crazy.
  • Next it’s Thanksgiving and some random guy is deep frying a turkey at Sookie’s house. Seems there is a big gathering going on. Oh look, there Jason and Bridgette and their three kids. And, wow, Sookie’s pregnant too! Wonder who the lucky guy is? Now they are all sitting down to dinner and there’s Sam (Sam Trammell) and Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) with their second child. Hoyt and Jess still look happy, and so do Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and James (Nathan Parsons). In fact, everyone in Bon Temps does. But who the heck is Sookie with? Then she leans over and kisses a guy with a beard. AND WE DON’T EVEN GET TO SEE HIS FACE.
  • Oh, I get it, Sookie chooses to be human and that’s more important than which guy she ends up with. And I am crying all over again because Sookie is happy.

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 9 “Love is to Die” Recap

August 18, 2014

It’s only a short recap this week as so much was wound up. But here’s what went down in Episode 9 (entitled Love is to Die) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  •  Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) gets released in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 9 (entitled 'Love is to Die')Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) really does choose to die, it’s not just a cliffhanger. As a result both Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) and Sookie Stachouse (Anna Paquin) are PISSED. Jess to the point that she asks to be released from Bill. Sookie to the point of slapping him silly until Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) intervenes.
  • Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) has made his decision and decided to follow the mother of his child to Chicago.
  • Jessica and James (Nathan Parsons) sort out their differences and that story line is done and dusted.
  • Hoyt Fortenberry (Jim Parrack) and Bridgette (Ashley Hinshaw) work out they just aren’t right for each other. As a result of this, Jess and Hoyt finally get their thing on after Jessica admits they used to be involved and it seems they are back together again.
  • Poor Bridgette finds consolation in the arms of Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) – and not even in a sexual way. For the first time in Jason’s adult life he lies next to woman in bed and it stays G rated. I smell a blossoming romance here!
  • Bill and Eric have words. Bill explains why he is refusing to be healed. He thinks he is bad news for Sookie, and there is probably a little of his old time religion and beliefs mixed in as well tainting his decision to meet hte true death. Eric argues with him about how Hep-V can turn you into an emo, but, in the end, Eric agrees to talk to Sookie on Bill’s behalf.
  • For some reason the Yakuza have decided Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) should be a blond again – and who else should be her hairdresser but Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten)? It seems vampires will play a higher price for blond antidote hookers…
  • Eric talks to Sookie about Bill and calms her down enough for her to take Bill’s call. On the way to meeting with Sookie he stops at his grave stone, which kind of scares me after watching the promo video for the Season 7 finale.
  • Remember how we speculated over who will be having weird and hilarious sex in Episode 10? Well, it turns out we were right! Ginger (Tara Buck) and Eric get frisky in that throne Ginger bought all those years ago.
  • Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee), in the meantime, has returned from his trip to Dallas and now has Pam held hostage in the Fangtasia dungeon. She is hooked up to a horrible torture device and every time Eric refuses to answer, a rope is chopped and a wooden stake drops lower and lower… Thankfully Eric finally caves and tells the truth about Sookie knowing about Sarah being the Hep-V antidote. Now they want to know where she lives. Uh-oh
  • Bill finally arrives at Sookie’s house <insert credits here> WHAT?!?! NO!! Now we have to wait until next week to find out how True Blood will meet it’s true end!

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) star in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 9 (entitled 'Love is to Die')

*Just on a side note: did anyone else notice that Jessica is wearing what appears to be the same black dress that Sookie has on in the promo for the True Blood finale? Wonder what that all means?

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 8 “Almost Home” Recap

August 11, 2014

Here’s what went down in Episode 8 (entitled Almost Home) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • Karolina Wydra stars as Violet in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 8 (entitled 'Almost Home')Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) really does decide to be a martyr and walks outside to meet her destiny. Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) nearly does the wrong thing by wanting to rip her head off but luckily Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) is there to threaten him talk some sense into him and danger is averted. Eric does sup on Sarah’s blood though and is instantly healed of Hep-V.
  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) are curled up in bed enjoying the afterglow when Sookie decides it would be a good time to dredge up the past. It seems Bill was meant to bring Sookie back to Queen Sophie Ann (Evan Rachel Wood) as a breeder, since the queen had gotten wind of another queen’s (Queen Mab of the fairies) plan to abscond all the fae out of the human world.
  • Tara Thornton’s (Rutina Wesley) story line gets wound up. It turns out all that digging in the garden of the their old house was to draw attention to the fact that Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) needed to forgive herself so the pair of them could move on – Lettie Mae, in life, and Tara, in death. *cries into her tissues at all the loose ends being wound up*
  • Hoyt Fortenberry (Jim Parrack) and Bridgette (Ashley Hinshaw) discover they may not be as perfect for each other as they first thought. It seems Hoyt realizes his family is messed up enough not to want to pass on the family genes. As a result, when Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) gets the text from Violet (Karolina Wydra) saying she is holding Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) hostage and takes off, Bridgette joins him. Because of course you would go into extreme danger rather than have a fight with your boyfriend…
  • So Jason gives her a gun and heads into Violet’s freaky house of hell. It doesn’t take long for Violet to attack him, tie him up and describe exactly how she plans to kill every one – and it turns out she was weirder than anyone even thought! Luckily Hoyt followed them there though so he can shoot Violet dead and save the day. Oh, and look at all the glances between him and Jess. It seems glamour can’t put the fire out on their attraction. Seems Bridgette can spot it a mile off too. My prediction is Jess and Hoyt will get back together (especially after the little chat Jason and Jess have in the car later in this episode) and Jason will hook up with Bridgette.
  • While Sarah’s blood has healed Eric, it seems Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee) is hesitant to release it directly to the general vampire public yet. It seems her blood does too good a job, he wants to dilute it down a bit first, so that vampires will have to purchase more than one bottle of Nu Blood in order to stay alive.
  • Eric arrives at Bill’s (how did he know she was there and not at her house?) and tells her about his lack of a Hep-V status. Sookie breaks the news that Bill is now sick. Eric is sworn to secrecy over the cure though and asks Sookie to sit tight and wait. Of course, this doesn’t happen *rolls eyes* and Sookie tracks down Eric at Fangtasia. As soon as she arrives she works out she’s in huge danger from Mr. Gus and the Yakuza so when Eric offers to glamour her, she fakes it with the best of them. In the process she reads Mr. Gus’s mind and ends up finding Sarah bound and gagged in the dungeon of Fangtasia. Boy is she excited once she reads Sarah’s mind and realizes Bill can be healed!
  • Hoyt goes to Bill’s during the day because he has the hots for Jessica all over again to drop off a bag of blood and him and Jess have a bit of a chat about the loss of parents.
  • Okay, just on a side note. There seems to be a lot of vampires awake during the day time in this episode. Remember when they could barely be woken in earlier seasons? Yeah, me too…
  • Mr. Gus has to return to Dallas but lets Eric and Pam know they should behave while his gone – yeah, he doesn’t trust them one little bit! And so he shouldn’t, because as soon as he’s gone they are fixing to cure Bill.
  • Speaking of Bill, he is having a dream about him and Sookie having a baby together – except this baby is a black smoke monster. Is Sookie pregnant with a baby Ifrit? But, anyway, Sookie wakes Bill from his nightmare and tells him the good news before dragging him back to Fangtasia’s and bumping into Eric and Pam.
  • In all the time it takes to get Bill to Fangtasia, he waits until then to tell them all it is his time to die and refuses to drink Sarah’s blood – WTH?!

Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) says no in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 9 (entitled 'Love is to Die')

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 7 “May Be the Last Time” Recap

August 4, 2014

Here’s what went down in Episode 7 (entitled May Be the Last Time and previously known as One Last Time) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • Niall Brigant (Rutger Hauer) and Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) catch up in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 7 (entitled 'May Be the Last Time')Amber (Natalie Hall) is getting interrogated by Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee) as to the whereabouts of her sister, Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp). This doesn’t go too well when Eric sees Sarah’s face instead of Amber’s and stakes her. But that’s okay because apparently Big Brother is way more advanced than we thought and Mr. Gus uses satellite navigation to track Sarah down as she is having a meltdown at the now abandoned Light of Day Institute. Seems she is hallucinating remembering her past and Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) is getting his nasty on and telling her she will be dead by dawn. Sarah then has to battle her other hallucinations: Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian), the guru and the severed head of the Governor (Arliss Howard). There is a battle raging for Sarah’s soul – or so she thinks. She tells them though – since she is the antidote now – she is the new Messiah! But not for long, since Eric, Pam and Mr. Gus have now arrived…
  • Andy (Chris Bauer) and Holly (Lauren Bowles) are still looking for Adilyn (Bailey Noble) and Wade (Noah Matthews). They’re not at Fort Bellefleur and they are certainly not at Holly’s ex’s lake house in Oklahoma. That’s because Violet (Karolina Wydra) has spirited them away to her 50 Shades playroom extravagant mansion. When Violet goes to sleep, Adilyn and Wade both hand in their V cards. Which is nice, because once Violet wakes up, it’s time for her to throw Wade across the room and chain up Adilyn. Now we know why Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) asked Adilyn to taste her blood all those episodes ago…
  • Jessica, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) are all being miserable at Bill’s house. Sookie still thinks she can find a cure, but Jess doesn’t seem to think so. While the vampires sleep, Sookie gets to work. Since she thinks it’s her fae blood that is accelerating Bill’s Hep-V status, she calls in the big guns – or one that comes in a small package and a mighty big Hummer anyway. Enter Dr. Ludwig (Marcia DeRousse)! Dr. L is just as adorably cranky as the last time we saw her but her only advice is that maybe Bill’s case is accelerated by Sookie’s faeness, but not likely as she knows of someone who has been infected by a full fairy and their case is not as extreme as Bill’s. Just as we are settling into Dr. L’s lack of bedside manner, Sookie drops her fairy lineage and Dr. Ludwig leaves in a hurry. It seems Niall Brigant (Rutger Hauer) may, or may not have (but definitely has) come from a line of dwarf killers.
  • Speaking of, Sookie then summons Niall who is even less helpful than we thought the fairy might be. Or is he? It seems that maybe Sookie should just forgive herself for giving Bill Hep-V and get on with the miracle of life. *insert Bill flashback to the birth of his first child here* Has HBO been trying to tell us in all these flashbacks that Caroline (Shannon Lucio) is Bill’s one true love? This doesn’t really sit too well with Sookie and she asks Niall to leave after that.
  • Arlene (Carrie Preston) finally gets her sex dream with her vampire savior, Keith (Riley Smith). Lucky for him it’s only a dream though as Arlene is now, obviously, Hep-V positive.
  • Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) grapples with whether to stay or leave with Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell). Arlene offers some advice. I still have no idea which way this story line will end.
  • Nu Blood – it’s like Tru Blood, just with Sarah Newlin’s blood and not the added Hep-V.
  • Hoyt Fortenberry (Jim Parrack) finally arrives from Alaska. In tow he has his gorgeous and smart new girlfriend, Bridget. So, of course, when Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) arrives, he is immediately coveting his ex-besties new girlfriend. The Hoyt and Jason moments are poignant as Jason lies about how Hoyt’s mother died. Jason ogling Hoyt’s girlfriend, not so nice – hasn’t he learned already?
  • Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) are digging in the yard of Lettie’s old house, looking for whatever it is that Tara (Rutina Wesley) wanted them to find. Shame they didn’t knock on the door and ask the current owners first though…
  • We finish this episode where we started all those years ago: with Sookie running through the cemetery in a white dress and then having sex with Bill in front of a raging fire. All the Team Bill fans out there are now worried that this hook up is way too early to come to any good – is Bill really going to meet the true death this time?

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 6 “Karma” Recap

July 28, 2014

Here’s what went down in Episode 6 (entitled Karma) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) cry over Bill Compton's (Stephen Moyer) Hep-V in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 6 (entitled 'Karma')Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) is exhausted but still puts in a good fight with the Yakuza. That is, until Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) is revealed; chained and held captive. So then it’s ‘Hello, countdown to dawn.’
  • Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) overhears Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and finds out he has Hep-V. When Bill leaves to sort out his will, Jess calls Jason (Ryan Kwanten) for moral support. Turns out Jason is post-coital with Violet (Karolina Wydra) – see, we just knew she wouldn’t go down without a fight! Jason thinks Violet is asleep, but, oh no, she’s not. She trashes the place after he leaves.
  • Bill spends a LOT of time at his lawyers office in this episode. It seems every infected vamper wants to put their affairs in order. Bill’s dose of Hep-V is doing weird things too. It seems to be an accelerated version – oh no. But, eventually Bill gets his turn and discovers that, thanks to Governor Burrell’s (Arliss Howard) law changes before he was spectacularly beheaded by Bill in Season 6, he can’t set his affairs straight – looks like Gov. Burrell got his revenge then! In order to sort out the mess, Bill will have to adopt Jessica rather than will her his estate. This will take time though, and more than Bill has. Apparently the lawyer can fast track Bill’s court proceedings – for 10 million cool ones! So Bill tries to glamour her into submission rather than being extorted. When that doesn’t work he kills her and her vampire protector. Way to go Bill!
  • Finally we get to meet True Blood’s new bad guy, Gus (Will Yun Lee). Turns out he runs Yakanoma Corporation. These are the guys who make Tru Blood. And since Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) infected the supply, the poor guy is broke. So he arrives with only three minutes to spare before dawn to strike up a deal with Eric and Pam. It seems he wants Sarah’s head on a spike. After Eric and Gus haggle over the fine print, Pam finally jumps in and talks some sense – right as their faces are starting to burn! A deal is finally brokered.
  • So what of Sarah Newlin? Seems she is as predictable as Pam thought, and heads straight for her sister’s house. Amber (Natalie Hall) jumps right on her and attempts to feed off her, but gets sick and passes out instead. When Amber finally comes too, the sisters have it out and Sarah fesses up to the fact there was a Hep-V antidote! YAY! *fist pumps the air* The only problem is she DRANK it, therefore making her the antidote. Yikes!
  • Andy (Chris Bauer) busts his daughter, Adilyn (Bailey Noble) in bed with Holly’s (Lauren Bowles) son, Wade (Noah Matthews). Turns into an argument between him and Holly, one which Arlene (Carrie Preston) has to sort out later on. Things go a little pear-shaped though when Holly and Andy go to talk to their kids and find out they are actually at Fort Bellefleur rather than at home. Uh-oh, I have a bad feeling about this.
  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) has a hangover. That doesn’t stop her brother from turning up and getting her out of bed to go and visit Jess. Once there, Jessica spills the beans about Bill and Sookie has a moment when she realizes Bill ingested her blood recently. Could she be the one who infected Bill? After a trip to the doctors and much soul searching with Jason, it turns out she might have.
  • Meanwhile, with all this soul searching, Jason realizes he needs to dump Violet and goes home to tell her right away. Only to discover how badly she has trashed the house. She has also left him a note breaking it off. Really Violet? What happened to all the ‘You are mine‘ business? Something just isn’t sitting right…
  • Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and his Aunty Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) decide to drink James’ (Nathan Parsons) blood. Lala is doing this to disprove the visions Lettie Mae has been having. Except they totally wind up in the exact same trip and Lala is now convinced Tara (Rutina Wesley) is trying to tell them something when they wind up at her childhood home with Tara digging up the backyard. What is she looking for? We don’t find out, however, as Lettie Mae’s husband turns up to spoil their fun. In the end, Lettie Mae tells him where to go and I can feel a flashback scene coming on sometime soon…
  • Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) gets an ultimatum from Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell). Seems she wants him to stop being the Mayor of Crazy and go live with her family instead. Wonder which option Sam will pick?
  • Remember how I thought something was up with Violet? Seems she is hankering for a taste of fairy. She has tracked down Adilyn and Wade at Fort Bellefleur and tells them about a ‘safe house’ she can take them to rather than them risking a vampire attack out there in the open. Oh crap, Adilyn.
  • Eric, Pam and Gus arrive at Amber’s house – to find she is completely healed. Oh, yeah baby!
  • Bill returns home to find Sookie and Jessica sobbing over his Hep-V.

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 5 “Lost Cause” Recap

July 21, 2014

Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) get their Texan on in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 5 (entitled 'Lost Cause' and previously entitled 'Return to Oz')Here’s what went down in Episode 5 (entitled Lost Cause, but also previously titled as Return to Oz) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • Kenya (Tonya Wright) is dead! Yeah, totally missed that last week.
  • Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire) is pissed as hell at Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and wants to be released. Eric strikes a deal with her; tell him everything she knows about Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) and he will. Turns out Sarah is in Dallas – and she has a sister who is a vampire!
  • Poor Ginger (Tara Buck) – she’s a sex slave to Eric, but without the sex. No matter now much she begs, Eric will neither take her to Dallas with them or have his wicked way with her.
  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) returns to an empty house with an empty heart – lucky Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) is there, ready to throw her a big party – is this the feast that Riley Smith (Keith the vampire) was hinting at? Lafayette wants a celebration of Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) and Tara’s (Rutina Wesley) lives rather than a gloomy funeral. Alcide’s dad, Jackson (Robert Patrick), agrees with Lala, right after he bags up all of Alcide’s stuff (until Sookie is ready to deal with it).
  • Sarah’s sister, Amber Mills (Natalie Hall), has Hep-V – and wants her sister dead, so agrees to help Eric anyway she can. Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) totally wants wants to be besties with this vamp now.
  • Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) wants to go to Sookie’s party but her husband won’t let her go on account of all the booze and vampire blood. Can anyone say allergy pills? He is sleeping like a babe in no time.
  • Bill (Stephen Moyer) has a whole heap of civil war flashbacks while at the party. It seems he was a southern deserter who ended up fighting rather than risk his family anymore. Interestingly, we learn that Jane Bodehouse (Patricia Bethune) is a descendant from the saloon owner in Bill’s time.
  • Violet (Karolina Wydra) spends this entire episode being unlikable. This results in Jason (Ryan Kwanten) ending up in the arms of Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) again. And why would Jess let that happen? After all, she has a boyfriend, right? Wrong. Turns out she caught James (Nathan Parsons) in the… erm… back seat of her car with Lafayette.
  • But at least she made up with Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) before the party when to hell for her.
  • Speaking of Andy, he finally proposes to Holly (Lauren Bowles). Of course this is totally the funniest awkward proposal ever. Thankfully Holly says yes – even if it is before he even has a chance to pop the question!
  • Eric and Pam dress the part of socialite republicans before attending the gala event that Sarah Newlin’s parents will be attending. Turns out Eric is now at Stage 2 of Hep-V. He is stoic about it – even if Pam is barely holding it all together.
  • Keith turns up at Sookie’s party and Arlene (Carrie Preston) goes all gaga over him. Sookie steps in to remind Keith to turn his sexiness down and he lets Sookie know that Arlene is the prettiest thing he has seen in 300 years – and that he will see her later on in her dreams.
  • After that, Sookie and Arlene chat about losing loved ones to stray bullets and Alcide’s dad listens in before leaving Alcide’s jacket behind for Sookie to find once everyone has gone.
  • Lettie Mae arrives right at the end of a speech Jackson is giving in honor of his son. Lala tries to send her home but Sookie asks if Lettie Mae would like to say a few words about Tara. Which she does – with grace – is she finally changing?
  • Bill seems sad throughout this entire episode.
  • Sookie is drunk and in everyone’s head after that. Seems everyone loves Sookie now. That is until she overhears something Lettie Mae is muttering. Something about Willa and vampire blood… Oh no! Lettie Mae stabs Willa before Sam (Sam Trammell) can step in and stop her. Willa is okay – she’s a vampire after all – but Lala takes his aunt away before she can do anymore harm.
  • Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) is totally not down with celebrating the dead and after much putting up with it all, finally cracks. Sam has to take her home.
  • Back in Dallas, and we find Sarah has holed up her mother in the ladies and is attempting to get back into her good books. Seems the Yukuza incident a few episodes ago has really shaken up Sarah. Meanwhile, Eric has glamoured Sarah’s dad. But before he can get any information out of him the damn Yukuza arrive and start shooting, so it’s R.I.P. Mr and Mrs Newlin. Sarah is running for her life after that – and runs straight into Eric Northman! Before he has a chance to strangle the life right out of her, he has to take out the Yakuza. Wonder if Sarah will be spared – she might even be able to help out with a cure for Hep-V? Seems we’ll have to wait until next week to find out.
  • Finally, we end this episode with Bill getting out of the bathtub. Oh no, now we know why he was all mopey at Sookie’s party – he has Hep-V too!

Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) takes a bath in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 5 (entitled 'Lost Cause' and previously entitled 'Return to Oz')

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 4 “Death is Not the End” Recap

July 14, 2014

Who knew that Ginger (Tara Buck) invented Fangtasia? HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 4 (Death is Not the End)Here’s what went down in Episode 4 (entitled Death is Not the End) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7:

  • This episode starts with all the hard stuff: telling the families of the casualties from Episode 3. Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) father takes the news stoically while Hoyt Fortenberry (Jim Parrack) breaks down and cries. He still manages to thank Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) though and his good southern manners mixed with his glamoured memory loss adds up to a real tearjerker of a scene.
  • We find Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) on a plane and between the legs of a flight attendant – this looks more like the Eric we know and love and less like emo Eric! It seems Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) has them flying to Baton Rouge, but after a heated discussion, it seems they are going to Shreveport instead. This segues nicely into a flashback about the origins of Fangtasia – turns out it was a video store with a hidden tunnel and Eric was made sheriff of Area 5 as punishment for his lack of conformity shown in the flashbacks from last week’s episode.
  • Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) spends most of this episode trying to fix things rather than dwell on the death of Alcide. As a result, things actually happen! She takes a trip to the Bellefleurs and manages to have a heart to heart with Arlene’s (Carrie Preston) kids as well as wriggle into Holly’s (Lauren Bowles) brain and work out just where those pesky Hep-V vampers are hanging out: Fangtasia. Tearjerker moment of the episode occurs here when a bewildered Andy (Chris Bauer) asks Sookie how he should console Holly; “We like to be held,” is Sookie’s response *sniffles*
  • Sam (Sam Trammell) and Jason are tasked with letting Rosie (Tess Alexandra Parker) know about Kevin’s (John Rezig) death (which Sookie also found out while reading Holly’s brain). Seems they are giving out waaaaay too much information about their plans to storm Fangtasia once it gets dark. Considering Rosie was one of the rabid Bon Temps residents in Episode 3, do they really want that mob storming the place as well?
  • Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) is still vamporexic and Sookie is taking none of that crap thank you very much! After Sookie tells her to suck it up princess a quick chat, it’s time to call in Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) so Jessica can feed and help them attack Fangtasia’s.
  • Speaking of Fangtasia, it’s time for another flashback! The time is 1996 and we are introduced to Ginger (Tara Buck). Turns out, before she became a fang banger, she was in college and doing rather well for herself. Long story short, Ginger is already obsessed with vampires and takes a job at Eric’s video store after meeting the ancient viking in the flesh.
  • Next we get to see Fangtasia in 2006. Vampires have just come out of the closest and Ginger is looking more like the little nit wit we know and love. Except she is by no means scattered yet and has the brilliant idea to turn Pam and Eric’s video store into a vamp bar. Heck, she even came up with the name – until Pam glamored her and took all the glory for herself. Back to the present day and Eric is chuckling over Pam’s confession.
  • So Sookie is amassing her troop – of 8. Even though they will be vastly outnumbered they are still determined to regain Fangtasia and rescue Arlene, Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Jane Bodehouse (Patricia Bethune). But what’s that? A knock at the door? Yay! It’s Eric and Pam! Even with the shock of realising Eric has Hep-V, Sookie still manages to go weak at the knees at the sight of him. Their little catch up is smoldering stuff.
  • Eric summons Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire), who is cranky as hell at not having seen her maker in some time, but it doesn’t matter because Eric pulls the maker card and Willa is now ready to help out as well. That makes 11 on the warpath…
  • Remember that hidden tunnel in Fangtasia? Well, turns out to be a major player when they all arrive. Sam turns into a rat and surprises the trio in the dungeon – especially Arlene, who had no idea Sam was a shifter! But he assures them that there are vampires – good vampires – about to rescue them. He turns back into a rat and disappears back out the tunnel again. So when the Hep-V vampers arrive and take Arlene, no one has any idea just how urgent their rescue mission has just become!
  • The Hep-V vamps are feeding on Arlene while Bill (who has sneaked into Fangtasia via the tunnel and rescued the remaining two humans) looks on as he waits for the rest of the vampires to make their way through the tunnel. Eric and Sookie arrive at the bar entrance. Eric asks to be let in (since he is legitimately the owner of the place AND a Hep-V sufferer). No one wants to let him in, but one whiff of Sookie and the door is opened wide.
  • Outside Rosie has bought the Bon Temps mob, led by Vince (Brett Rickaby). Yeah, it’s about to get messy!
  • Just as Eric announces he has bought his friends along, the angry mob start throwing Molotov cocktails and a battle ensues.
  • During the bloodshed, Arlene is dying in Sookie’s arms and seeing visions of Terry (Todd Lowe). Once more, we’re all in tears. Sookie is begging Arlene to hold on until a healthy vampire arrives, while Arlene is begging to join Terry. Luckily the war is over quickly and Keith (Riley Smith) gives up his blood in order to heal Arlene.
  • Bill kills Vince – epic!
  • Eric and Sookie have a whole conversation just using their eyes.
  • The end.

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 3 “Fire in the Hole” Recap

July 7, 2014

Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse in HBOs True Blood Season 7 Episode 3 entitled Fire in the HoleSo what went down in Episode 3 (entitled Fire in the Hole) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7? Let us break it down for you:

  • What are we doing in a yoga retreat? Are we even watching True Blood? *checks remote* Oh, lookie, it’s Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp)!
  • Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) have a chat which results in Pam admitting she felt Tara Thornton’s (Rutina Wesley) true death and a flashback to 1986 about the birth of Tru Blood.
  • Alcide (Joe Manganiello) works out Sookie (Anna Paquin) is missing and tracks her to Bill’s (Stephen Moyer) house. But they aren’t there because they are driving to wherever it is Sookie needs to be in order for her plan to work.
  • Adilyn (Bailey Noble) and Holly’s son are sitting in jail – flirting and kissing until Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) arrive and rescue them.
  • Sam (Sam Trammell) has a heart to heart with the reverend before heading off with his vampire bodyguard. They bump into the riled up towns folk and it all goes pear shaped from there. Sam loses his vampire to a bullet and his clothes thanks to the fact he has to turn into an owl and escape in a hurry.
  • Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire) gets her invitation rescinded thanks to bringing home a V affected Lettie Mae (Adina Porter).
  • Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) and James (Nathan Parsons) gets wasted and the tentative beginnings of an attraction are formed – even if James does insist him and Jessica are together (even if they aren’t particularly ‘together’).
  • Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) wants a family with Violet (Karolina Wydra) – even if they have to adopt. Needless to say, Violet is not impressed with this idea. Luckily Andy and Jessica arrive during this awkward moment and they are on a mission to save Sookie from the crazy towns folk.
  • Back at Fangtasia it seems the Hep-V infected vampires need another feed and take Holly (Lauren Bowles) along with them.
  • Sookie and Bill are sitting in a clearing waiting. It seems Sookie has placed herself as bait. While they wait they chat. Sookie fesses up to the fact that Alcide loves her more than she loves him.
  • Jason’s group are on the hunt for Sookie. Instead they find Sam’s abandoned car. Before they can worry Sam has been killed, the towns folk descend on them. It gets heated. As a result it’s R.I.P. Mrs. Fortenberry (Dale Raoul). Jessica gets hit with a bullet but it hurts, not kills her.
  • We get a Bill flashback which doesn’t really advance the story line any but it’s nice to see Bill as a human I guess.
  • We also get another Eric and Pam 1986 flashback. It seems Eric once had to make a choice between his human love (Sylvie) and his progeny (Pam). Not sure what any of this has to do with Season 7, but, once more, it’s nice to see backstory on some of our favorite vamps.
  • Back to 2014 and Eric is trying to convince Pam to leave and let him die. Pam is smarter than that and lets slip that Jason let Sarah Newlin live. Oh look Eric now has a mission – it’s a road trip!
  • Speaking of Sarah. It seems she still has a taste for men in power and is currently in bed with her yoga guru. Fortune shines on her when she leaves the room to fetch a bottle of wine. It seems the company that makes Tru Blood is also on the hunt for Sarah. While her guru lover admits he knows her, he doesn’t let slip that she is merely a room away. He loses his head as a result.
  • We finish this episode with Sookie finally attracting the Hep V vamps – along with a dazed Holly. A bloodbath ensures with Sam, Alcide, Jason, Andy, Jessica and Violet arriving all at once and attacking the Hep-V vampires. Some of the townsfolk also show up. As a result, Alcide is shot. And killed. Seriously a horrible moment. Sookie is devastated.

True Blood Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 2 “I Found You” Recap

June 30, 2014

Episode 2 (entitled I Found You) of HBO’s True Blood Season 7 starts with the scene many Trubie fans had been holding out for: the Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) sex scene! But what else happened? Let’s take a look:

  • An apocalyptic scene from Episode 2 (entitled 'I Found You') of HBO's True Blood Season 7So Jason and Eric have a little chat, a little argument and then a whole heap of kissing – before Jason wakes up and realizes he’s dreaming of sex while in church!
  • It turns out Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is a better detective than Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) – but that’s only because she tripped over a dead body she didn’t recognize last week. And so, after investigating the corpse, Sookie, Andy, Jason, Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello), and Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) decide to take a trip to Saint Alice.
  • Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) – ever the addict – decides to visit Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) to get some V so she can see her dead daughter, Tara (Rutina Wesley) via V-induced visions. This doesn’t go so well and Lettie Mae leaves empty handed. It’s not long though before she works out a little plan involving burning her hand and working on Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire). This time she gets herself a hit of vampire blood and manages to have a drug induced vision of Tara. She finds her daughter hanging on a giant cross and draped with a snake. While she can see Tara this time round, she cannot understand what she is saying. Looks like another hit of V is called for in Episode 3!
  • Sam, before leaving town, rallies the troops and they start to clean up Bellefleur’s for Arlene Fowler-Bellefleur (Carrie Preston) – if she ever returns alive. But, lo and behold, Vince (Brett Rickaby) arrives and stirs them all up and they go a hunting some guns in order to protect themselves from the Hep-V vampers. Luckily Adilyn (Bailey Noble) overhears one of the townsfolk and knows that they are just about to storm the sheriff’s station in order to get their hands on all the weapons there. So Adilyn convinces Holly’s son to go with her and they head on over to speak to Kenya (Tanya Wright).
  • Meanwhile, back at Fangtasia, Arlene works out that one of the Hep-V infected vampires is actually an old school teacher of her children’s – and so the begging begins. Both Arlene and Holly (Lauren Bowles) work on the woman – it seems to work too. That is until the vampire returns announcing they have a span of 12 minutes to escape. Arlene offers up her body in order to feed Betty, their new found ally – and then Betty goes and dies on them as she is feeding off Arlene!
  • But while all that is going on, Sookie and her gang are arriving at Saint Alice’s. Not only does Sookie find the house belonging to the corpse she tripped over in Bon Temps, but the woman also kept a comprehensive diary – one that reads a lot like the early love story between Sookie and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer)! As well as learning a lot more about how Bon Temps will fare now the Hep-V vampires have their sights set on the town, there is a body pit to be found as well as the knowledge (thanks to Jason and his expert ‘ pizza forensics’) that Saint Alice was sucked dry only two and a half days earlier – and so the ticking clock of a countdown begins. Can they save Bon Temps in time?
  • Adilyn manages to get to the police station before the angry mass led by Vince – but only just. Turns out it’s not long enough to clear out the guns though. To make matter worse, when the towns folk arrive, they manage to convince Kenya to turn on Adilyn and she starts handing out the wretched guns to the riled up towns folk instead!
  • Now, because of this, Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) wakes up as soon as she senses Adilyn’s precarious situation – but a lot of good that will do since it is still daylight and Jessica can’t go and find her. Instead she gets busy calling people. No one at the police station answers and neither does Sookie (since she threw her phone away in the cemetery last week). As soon as Andy returns home, Jessica is onto him and they argue before Jessica can hold him down long enough to convince him she hasn’t eaten his remaining daughter. It seems an uneasy alliance has been formed in order to find Adilyn.
  • At Sookie’s house, Alcide is beat and heads off to bed. Sookie makes him shower first before dirtying her sheets – but that’s just an excuse so she can sneak out of the house and pay a visit to Bill. It seems she has a plan…
  • Finally, we conclude Episode 2 of True Blood Season 7 with a cliffhanger. Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) played Russian roulette last week in order to find out the location of her maker, Eric Northman. And now she has finally found him – only to discover he has contracted Hep-V!

True Blood Premiere Quickie: True Blood Season 7 Episode 1 “Jesus Gonna Be Here” Recap

June 23, 2014

So, here we are – at the very last premiere return of HBO’s True Blood! And this is what went down in Season 7, Episode 1, entitled Jesus Gonna Be Here:

  • Rutina Wesley stars as vampire Tara Thornton in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 1 (entitled 'Jesus Gonna Be Here')Fight scene – yeah, we knew it was going to start this way, but it turns out more people are being taken rather than slaughtered! Kevin (John Rezig), Arlene (Carrie Preston), Holly (Lauren Bowles), Jane Bodehouse (Patricia Bethune) and Sam’s (Sam Trammell) new love, Nicole (Jurnee Smolett-Bell) are among those taken – thanks Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) for that tip off! Sam and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) try to follow them but soon return empty handed.
  • Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) goes all matrix on a Hep-V vampire behind in order to save her mother, Lettie Mae (Adina Porter).
  • Wait, is that someone whistling? Seems it is, and it’s the magic ‘make the Hep-V vampers disappear‘ whistle too!
  • Sookie (Anna Paquin) finds Lettie Mae covered in goo – Tara is dead – WTF?! *sobs*
  • Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) finds out about Tara but still promises to protect Adilyn (Bailey Noble). Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) isn’t too keen on this notion, but he jumps out of the pan and straight into the fire with Bill (Stephen Moyer) and they head off in search of Holly.
  • Why is everyone dogging on Sookie – she didn’t cause this mess! What, even Alcide, really???
  • Oh look, it’s new James (Nathan Parsons)!
  • Sam and Vince ( the other candidate for mayor of Bon Temps) have an argument over Sam being a dog. Vince (Brett Rickaby) eventually agrees to keep quiet about Sam – for the time being.
  • Bill tells every humanto take their allocated vampire and go home. A very drunk Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) gets assigned James as his vampire in residence. Bill then discusses where these Hep V vamps might be nesting and rounds up a group to check out a few abandoned places.
  • Sam thinks he’s exempt from the vampire/human rule, but takes one home anyway… I feel a little uncomfortable about his vampire and I don’t know why :-/
  • Alcide calls Sookie, but she throws her phone away into the woods rather than answer it.
  • So Sookie thinks it’s safe walking through the woods at night after the Hep-V attack? Guess the dead girl she stumbles across thought the same thing too. But that Sook, she just ignores that body and keeps on going… Sookie must be real mad to ignore a body like that…
  • Pam! YAY it’s Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten)! Oh no, why is she playing Russian roulette with vampire killing bullets in Morocco? Okay, so it’s to find out information about Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) – now that’s progeny dedication for you.
  • Adilyn and Jessica have a sweet little chat about all the horrible stuff that has happened between them, boys and what not; basically chewing the fat like a couple of BFFs – even if Adilyn does take a step back as Jessica approaches… Whoa! Hang on a minute -that’s a Hep-V infected vampire approaching.
  • Sookie and Alcide have a little argument and Alcide goes off to bed. But that’s okay because Sookie mops for a bit and then goes and apologises to Alcide and they ‘make up’.
  • Jason and Violet (Karolina Wydra) have a chat about Tara on the way to their rendezvous point. Whoops, seems someone’s already at the abandoned place they are going to search… Low and behold, it’s Vince again. Jason and Violet (mainly Violet) have words with them and they are shortly on their way
  • It’s Lafayette smoking weed. Even funnier is the fact that James is too! Wouldn’t it toast him slowly from the inside? Anyway, we get an insight into who James really is here. Lafayette approves, and that’s all we need to like James version 2.0
  • Jason gets all cranky because he hasn’t gotten laid yet, so he yells at Violet and then they finally get jiggy. On top of the police cruiser. Hello gratuitous crotch shot!
  • Jessica is still protecting Adilyn from the Hep-V vamper. She convinces the fairy to feed of her, so Jess will always know where she is.
  • Lettie Mae is tripping on Willa’s vamp blood and is stressing that Tara ain’t in heaven and needs her mamma’s help. Well, that escalated quickly – in reverse. Lettie Mae is asleep now. This gives the good reverend and Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire) a chance to chat. In the end, the Rev. lets Willa move into the church basement.
  • So Pam is still doing the ‘where in the world in her maker‘ game. She now has a treasure map to follow.
  • Bill and Andy go to the abandoned slaughter house – yep, it’s a vampire nest.
  • Far out – it’s Vince again. This guy is REALLY starting to annoy me!
  • Bill convinces Vince to let Andy go.
  • Andy won’t go, says he wants to kill Bill himself, so stupid Vince hands over his gun – and Andy pulls it on the other gun wielder there before diffusing the entire situation and ‘encouraging’ Vince’s group to leave.
  • The stolen group (Arlene, Holly, Kevin, Jane, Nicole etc.) are listening to the Hep-V vamps consume a human – turns out they are all holed up in the basement of Fangtasia!
  • Then Kevin gets eaten…
  • Andy and Bill chat. Andy’s still pissy at Bill but spared him because he wants help getting Holly back
  • Oh crap – dawn is coming and Jessica is still staring down that Hep-V vamper! Adilyn’s onto it though and invites Jessica in. Luckily Jessica doesn’t drain her. She’s sizzling around the edges though, or is that just the lesbian undertones heating up the room?
  • The Hep-V vamper bursts into flames
  • We’re in church now. Sookie arrives and it get very awkward very quickly – especially when Lettie Mae gets stuck into her. So Sookie gets up to leave before thinking twice about it and giving all the church members a piece of her mind! Poor Sookie, all she wants to do is help.

And that concludes the very first episode of HBO’s True Blood Season 7! What did you think of it? Were you sad to see Tara go? When do you think we’ll get to see Eric again? And will Sookie be able to help Bon Temps? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
