True Blood: Who will survive the Apocalypse?

August 12, 2013

Deborah Ann Woll Talks About Her Loss of Vampire Faith:

Deborah Ann Woll stars as Jessica Hamby in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 7, entitled 'In the Evening'

HBO’s True Blood Season 6 has seen the great state of Louisiana declaring war on vampires, Tru Blood is almost gone, internment camps for the vamps, and our favourite cast of characters are going through some really trying times.

Bill (Stephen Moyer) has to work out a way to save his friends from the prophecy he has foreseen, and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) had all but given up on “life” after draining the three of the four fairy girls. TV Guide spoke with Deborah Ann Woll to get the scoop on what was coming up.

We have seen Jessica dealing with so much regret:

She’s suffered from self-hate and self-doubt all along, so this is just a confirmation of all those fears; those fears that she is a monster because of these dark urges that she has. She thinks she’s going to die, that’s what Bill foresaw. She understands that’s what’s going to happen. She’ll save as many of her friends as she can, but I don’t think she feels like she has to work too hard for herself because it’s not as bad if she doesn’t exist. That’s a pretty dark place for her to be.

We have been introduced to James (Luke Grimes) this season, a young and handsome suitor for Jessica that is not human like Hoyt (Jim Parrack) or Jason (Ryan Kwanten). It’s as though she is finally accepting of the vampire that she is and James is going to continue to be a part of that.

And along with that, letting go of some of the old lovers too like Jason Stackhouse who has come to save her in the internment camp putting himself at great risk:

She cares deeply for him and feels like she’s hurt him more than he ever deserved to be. That scene of her letting him go was like, “I’m not worth it. Get out of here.” We’ll see if they’re able to come out of this.

And finally what does Jessica think about the prophecy coming true?

She doesn’t want to take any active steps towards saving herself, but she doesn’t feel that her friends deserve to die and that anybody should die risking themselves for her. She’s of the mindset that she will help people out to the extent that it saves vampire kind, but she’s trying to come to terms that it may not save her in the end.

So, do you think Jessica will survive?

True Blood’s Anna Camp Talks About Crazy Sarah Newlin…

August 12, 2013

…And How She Ended Up at the ER in Full Costume:

Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) talks to a beheaded Governor Burrell (Arliss Howard) in HBO's True Blood Season 6 Episode 7, entitled 'In the Evening'True Blood fans have seen it all now, when in Episode 7 Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) picked up the severed head of her lover Gov. Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard), and kissed it. In her lovely southern drawl, she exclaimed:

“I had no idea, actually that I was gonna kiss the head, it just sort of happened. If I get an impulse that’s like creepy, I’m like ‘why not’? They can always tell me not to do it. But better to be pulled back than pushed forward, you know?”

She stated that the special effects department got it so right; the severed head looked so much like Arliss Howard… everybody on set was like “Whoa! I can’t believe you kissed that!”

Her biggest crazy so far went to air last Sunday night though in Episode 8 of True Blood Season 6, which landed her in the ER with a minor injury for the stunt she did for that episode. Shot over 3 days, the scene is one which is violent and graphic and certainly one that took a lot of stamina for actress Anna Camp.

In other roles Anna has played crazy, but she says that this season, this time round on True Blood

“I’ve had some of the best lines I’ll probably ever have on television!”

Sookie Stackhouse Was Nearly Played by True Blood’s Anna Camp!

August 12, 2013

Could You Imagine Sarah Newlin as Sookie?

Anna Camp stars as vicious Sarah Newlin in HBO's True Blood Season 6While Anna Camp is thoroughly enjoying the return of her character, Sarah Newlin, to HBO’s True Blood Season 6, it seems she very nearly made it to the True Blood big time: Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin).

With her big hair, southern hospitality and an aversion to vampires, Sarah has turned out to be the villain Truebies just love to hate. It’s a challenge she thoroughly enjoys too.

When you have the mean girl, you can’t just hate her. You’ve got to love to hate her. There’s a certain line you have to walk to play the mean girl. You obviously can’t be in on the joke, but you have to commit to it.

While Camp enjoys playing the nasty characters, True Blood’s first showrunner, Alan Ball, had a different idea. Originally, he had Anna Camp try out for the role of Sookie Stackhouse! It seems that Anna wasn’t so sure she’d fit the part. And once she saw Anna Paquin trying out for the role, she knew it wasn’t going to come to pass:

We passed each other in the hallway, and I was like, ‘Oh, Anna Paquin. She’s totally going to get this.’

While Anna Camp may have missed a golden opportunity at a long time role on True Blood, fans sure a happy with her portrayal of Sarah Newlin. While Sarah is the villain we all love to hate, it has come down entirely to the brilliant portrayal of the character by Anna Camp.

Do you think Anna Camp would make a better Sookie Stackhouse? Or, alternatively, could you imagine Anna Paquin as Sarah Newlin? Let us know in the comments below.

Even Nelsan Ellis Gets Confused with True Blood’s Storylines

August 10, 2013

Lafayette Will be Back With a Vengeance in Season 7:

Nelsan Ellis stars as Lafayette Reynolds in HBO's True Blood Season 6Many Truebies have bemoaned the fact that the storylines in HBO’s True Blood have gotten more intricate and confusing with each successive season. But don’t fear, you’re not alone! Nelsan Ellis (who plays Lafayette Reynolds) is hearing you all loud and clear! When recently interviewed by Vulture.com, he had this to say:

Last season was a bit schizophrenic, with like fifteen storylines. Even when I watched the show, I’d get confused as to what’s going on. There was a lot happening in 51 minutes.

So Ellis is pleased that Brian Buckner has streamlined the plot for True Blood Season 6. A sentiment echoed by fans also. Nelsan reiterated the fact that the show is trying to get back to it’s roots.

But what about Lafayette? Many fans are lamenting the fact that Bon Temps’ most flamboyant character has been playing it low key in Season 6. Fear not, Ellis has confirmed that Lafayette will be bigger and better in True Blood Season 7.

So, is Nelsan Ellis as flamboyant as his character in real life? It appears not, since he was recently rendered speechless by the woman he calls the ‘queen of the universe’: Oprah Winfrey. When he recently had the talk-show host introduce herself to him on the set of their movie, Butler, Ellis was too shy to respond:

I was like, ‘Ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod’. I get nervous around people, especially celebrities. And I think Oprah is queen of the universe. I think she sits on the balcony of the heavens.

True Blood fans will certainly be glad to hear that Lafayette is back in Season 7 – and with rumors that Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe) isn’t the only major death occurring in True Blood Season 6, it’s nice to hear that Lafayette is safe for Season 6!

Terry Bellefleur’s Funeral Brings Bon Temps Together:

Joe Manganiello stars as Alcide Herveaux in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 9, entitled 'Life Matters'In this video teaser of HBO’s True Blood Season 6, Episode 9 (entitled Life Matters), we find the inhabitants of Bon Temps coming together for Terry Bellefleur’s (Todd Lowe) funeral.

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) arrives and still wearing that black dress she wore to Fairyland with Billith (Stephen Moyer). So she must make it back okay. I wonder how Billith and Warlow (Robert Kazinsky) fared though?

She does appear to be a little late to the funeral though and has to take a seat next to Jane Bodehouse (Patricia Bethune) and Maxine Fortenberry (Dale Raoul). Sookie isn’ t seated for long when Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello) turns up, wanting to sit next to her. While Alcide impresses Jane and Maxine, Sookie isn’t as beguiled and announces she’s saving the seat next to her for her brother, Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten). But we all know Jason isn’t about to turn up any time soon!

VIDEO: True Blood Season 6 Episode 9 Teaser – ‘Meeting Terry’ #FridayFlashback

August 9, 2013

True Blood Brings Us a Terry Bellefleur Flashback:

Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur) and Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) look for Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe) in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 9, entitled 'Life Matters'HBO is giving us plenty of promo videos for True Blood Season 6 Episode 9 (entitled Life Matters) this week!  And this one comes in the form of a flashback.

Episode 9 of True Blood will bring the residents of Bon Temps together for the funeral of the much loved Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe). It seems that there might be a little reminiscing involved as this video gives us a flashback to an early Terry Bellefleur.

We find Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammel) (from the newly opened Merlotte’s bar) with Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) and a case of Terry’s favorite beer, Raging Bitch. They are out in the middle of nowhere and appear to be trying to lure Terry out of the wilderness. Eventually a camouflaged Terry shows up, looking a lot more damaged than he was before Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston) picked him up and bought him some measure of happiness.

VIDEO: True Blood Season 6 Episode 9 ‘Prayer’ Teaser

August 9, 2013

Is Sarah Newlin Praying for True Blood?

Stephen Moyer stars as Bill/Billith in HBO's True Blood Season 6, Episode 9, entitled 'Life Matters'With only two episodes left of HBO’s True Blood Season 6, fans are starting to get anxious about all their favorite vampires  now trapped in the room from Billith’s (Stephen Moyer) vision from earlier in Season 6. Will they all meet the sun?

In the latest video teaser of Episode 9 (entitled Life Matters), we find Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) praying – but for who or what, is unclear. Is she praying for her own safety perhaps? After seeing what looks like Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) holding a gun to her head in the previous Episode 9 promo, then possibly she is indeed praying for her own salvation.

We also find snippets of that damn roof opening up over our True Blood vampires. Will they all die? Then  Jason Stackhouse is screaming and bodies are burning. If you slow that particular scene down, you can see a redhead cowering in the background – is that Jessica (Deborah Ann Wool)? Why isn’t she burning?

We also find Billith coming out of Fairyland – or is he being forcibly pushed out? Especially since we see a very brief moment of a very angry Warlow (Robert Kazinsky) – and is Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) tied up behind him? Finally, there is that flash of what appears to be Lilith (Jessica Clarke). Which leads fans to wonder ‘what’s that all about?’

So many questions. Only this Sunday will be able to answer them for us – #waitingSUCKS!

Carrie Preston Talks About Arlene’s Pain in True Blood Season 6

August 7, 2013

Could Arlene Fowler Go Bad?

Carrie Preston stars as Arlene Fowler in HBO's True Blood Season 6Recently Carrie Preston (who plays recently widowed Arlene Fowler in HBO’s True Blood Season 6), sat down with Vulture.com to discuss just how Terry Bellefleur’s (Todd Lowe) death has affected the Merlotte’s waitress.

One of the first things to crop up, was how long did Carrie know about Terry’s demise:

We knew really early on. They told Todd Lowe, and then Todd sent me a text message, “Adios Terry in episode six.” I was like, “What? What?!” I was freaking out… It’s such a sad, sad thing, and the writers took great pains to really show his PTSD.

In this week’s episode, we saw Arlene stand up to the Bellefleurs and all they stand for, when they requested a military gun salute at Terry’s funeral. Preston was relieved to see this happen. With all Arlene had endured, she is still that tough little battler we all know and love.

Even though fans love her, Arlene is considered one of True Blood’s bigoted characters, when it comes to supernatural beings, there has certainly been a transformation over the years which sees her now biting her tongue or apologising when she does slip up and reveal her prejudices, as was seen recently in relation to her apologising to Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis):

She felt terrible about [snapping at Lafayette] the next day. She’s clearly going through many extremes and is completely unhinged, and I think everybody understands where that’s coming from. But when you’re fundamentally  a bit narrow-minded, it’s hard in moments of emotional extremity to not let those things come out. She’s slowly starting to open her mind up to the possibilities of things she doesn’t understand.

Could all this death around her, possibly bring out Arlene’s darker side? According to Preston, she wished Arlene had dabbled in witchcraft!

Arlene’s a very controlling person, and she could have put spells on people to control them.

Now wouldn’t that be a sight to see?
