Charlaine Harris’ 10th Book Entitled Dead In The Family

September 6, 2009 by Tongela Johnson

collageCharlaine Harris has announced the title of her 10th book in the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series entitled “Dead In The Family” which is set to be released May 2010Charlaine wrote on her blog that the concept for Dead In The Family was originally different from the book that she ended up writing.  She states that at first she thought that her 10th book would be very episodic, however it turned out to have a very unifying theme and “to have a crazy night of resolution.”

The Amazon UK site has posted a summary of the tenth Sookie Stackhouse novel, Dead in the Family, but as to whether or not it is correct it may be too early to say   The states the following synopsis:

Sookie Stackhouse has finally settled into a relationship with the Viking vampire Eric, and her errant brother Jason seems to have his life in order too. But all the other people in Sookie’s life -Eric himself, her former lover Bill, her friend and boss Sam-are having family problems. Eric’s maker shows up with Eric’s ‘brother’ in tow, the ailing Bill can only be healed by a blood sibling, and Sam’s brother’s marriage is about to take place…or will it? The furor raised by the coming out of the two-natured has yet to settle; some people are just not ready to sit down to dinner with a man who turns into a dog. And Sookie herself is still recovering from her last ordeal. She’s definitely improving, physically and mentally, but she’s always going to have some dark moments to show. The werewolves tell her that there have been strange and ominous passersby in the Stackhouse woods; now Sookie is about to come face-to-face with one of ther distant relatives.

  2. JW says:

This makes no sense, Eric’s maker dies in the books (and yes on the show) while Sookie watches…hmmm?

    • Natalie says:

Godric was Eric’s maker on the show & died. In the books Eric discussed his maker with Sookie only recently (book 9) and did not say that his maker was dead. Book 10 we meet him.

    • Lucy O'Sullivan says:

Godric dies in the book, but he’s not Eric’s maker, in the book Godric was a peadophile and wanted to die so he couldn’t hurt and kill any more children. The tv series veered a lot from the book I can only assume to make the audience like Eric more to prefix the future relationship with Sookie.

  9. Lupilu says:

I love the whole Eric/Sookie thing, Bill’s too whiney for my liking, Eric has a great sense of humour. I hope Sookie ends up with Eric in the series as well. have just read the whole series in just over two weeks, haven’t got Dead and gone, waiting for it off of Amazon, it’s killing me waiting and dreading the wait for Dead in the family!!!

  12. Thanks for reading, guys! And Ollie, thank you for responding to BLF’s question!

  13. Natalie says:

Dermott was missing end of book 9 ppl… I think it’s him. I’m still wondering why he didn’t kill Jason & why he was so keen to meet Sookie instead of just killing her? His motives are unclear.
More than anything I’m dying to hear Eric’s explanation as to why he sent Bill with Niall to rescue Sookie and he didn’t come himself? He said he’d explain and she’d understand… Having to wait till May 2010 for that answer is a killer!

another of her relatives has to be another faerie even though her great grandfather closed the worlds of the fey so I don’t know if they could live outside of the fey world

    • mary says:

The Great-grandfather told her that the Faerie could live in our world but would have to give up all link to the Faerie world (or all link to our world if they go back)to do so.

    • am says:

Maybe the relative will be a ghost, she lives by the cemetery…
