Most of Season 2 was a BIG disapointment! It veared way too far afield from the original story. If the Director wanted a different story from Sookie Stackhouse then he should not have evoled Mary Ann to the point he did. It about ruined the True Blood series for me. I await Series 3 to see if he has improved.

I agree with Charleen Harris to discontinue the series if it has changed to far afield!

Season 2 was good. While, I agree that the maryann storyline was overdone and too much time given to her character,There were some memorable moments as well.
The Jessica/Hoyt storyline was 1 of my favorites
I liked when Hoyt introduced Jess to his mom…that was a hoot!
      Sookie,Bill & Jess in Dallas
The development of the Arlene/Terry relationship
Further developments of Eric Northman’s character ~~Who wasnt pleased to see That?!
IMHO the 1st season was better. Tara was more sassy So was Laffy! Sam was more mysterious and brooding. Bill was more menacing more enigmatic. Jason’s character development his addictive personality his ignorance his witty “jasonisms”
The characters of Eddie,Longshadow,Malcolm & Diane I forget what the other 1’s nname was.
Not to mention “Escape from Dragon House” Is I think 1 of The Best episodes of S1!! The 1st time Sookie meets Eric the 1st time we meet Pam Ravenscroft and When Bill & Sookie are approaching Fangtasia We hear strands of Don’t fear the reaper
Just incredible! And Of Course Jason and his “Problem” A Riot! I must have laughed myself silly!! The whole Bill-Sookie-Sam thing was great I thought! Sookie waking up to a naked Sam in bed with her? Hysterical!
      S1 WAS Better! IMHO
S2 was pretty good for the most part but far too much time was given to develop the whole maryann story line (she was kind of creepy near the end of S1,too) More time couyld have been given to Eric & Godric!! Jess & Hoyt or Even Bill & Sookie!
Bring back sassy Tara feisty Laffy and brooding Sam!
and maybe wild Jason? And cut down on the nudity maybe?
just a suggestion it is HBO after all i know that

Plus the marriage proposal at the end of S2 seem somewhat contrived. it may have been a nice touch but just did nnot make a whole lot of sense JMHO. So the Only way that Sookie would care What happened to Bill is if he proposed to her?
Bill Is a Vampire.. a bloodsucker! He can be romantic and passionate and kind but he also can be dangerous, and intimidating…He Is after all a Predator!
In Asking Sookie to marry him it kind of disintegrates his element of danger and almosts eradicates his predatory nature as a vampire! Is this Vampire Bill OR Prince Charming??
Part of the charm the fascination of True Blood is that it has always been gritty and visceral. It showed the dark underside of what vampire life would be like…graphic, harsh even cruel!
By turning Bill from Anti-hero to Romantic Hero reverses the polarity of the show I think. What attracted fans to Bill in the 1st place, was his element of danger…the whole forbidden love thing. We never knew whether he was good or bad He loved Sookie and yet he attacked her great uncle Bartlett!
Even his love for Sookie Never negated the fact that he Was a Vampire! I keep wondering was This really necessary?
I suppose the writers know best. Wouldnt it have been better if Bill had asked Sookie to meet him at his home and he was abducted from there? I think that theway the episode played out implies that Sookie had to have Bill’s engagement ring on her finger in order to be faithful to him?
Some1 here said once that at least Sookie knows that Bill loved her enough to ask her to marry him. What does that mean?
She would Not have known that he loved her UNLESS he proposed??
If an attraction to Alcide OR Eric is imminent,Then It realy doesnt matter if she has His ring on her finger…Does it?
We’ll just hhave to see how the writers handle this
