Jim Parrack in Terre Haute

September 3, 2010 by

It seems that in every interview True Blood‘s Deborah Ann Woll gushes about what a great actor Jim Parrack truly is and fans of the show couldn’t agree more. For those who are unfamiliar with Jim‘s greatness, now they have a chance to seem him live.

While True Blood is on hiatus before it begins shooting Season 4, Jim Parrack (who plays Jessica‘s love interest Hoyt Fortenberry on the HBO series) is set to star in the theatre production of Terre Haute, which will be the first production of the 20th anniversary season of Blank Theatre.

Written by Edmund White and directed by Kristen Sanderson, the production will preview the show on Saturday October 2 at 8 p.m, October 3 at 2 p.m as well as Tuesday to Friday October 8 at 8 p.m and have its Los Angeles premiere on the 9th of the same month at 9 p.m; it will run through November 14.

Terre Haute is the fictional conversations between Timothy McVeigh and Gore Vidal or rather a domestic terrorist and the most famous opinionated gadfly. The play revolves around what it means to be an American and what one believes they must do for their country. Charles Isherwood, in his New York Times review, wrote that White

“has captured the amusingly contrasted voices of the patrician novelist and the plebeian terrorist cannily and cogently.”

While fans know Jim for portraying Hoyt, socially awkward and lumbering through life looking for the town to see him as a man, Jim will be playing the part of the imprisoned bomber while Mike Farrell, better known for playing BJ on the hit series M*A*S*H, will portray the famous writer. Though we only know Jim in the vampire series, he’s quite talented and has made appearances in CSI, Monk, ER, Grey’s Anatomy, Close to Home, NCIS, and Criminal Minds.

Regular performances for Terre Haute are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m and Sundays at 2 p.m; Tickets are $26 for Thursdays and Sundays, while tickets for Friday and Saturday are $30. To purchase tickets or for more information call (323) 661-9827 or click here. The Blank’s 2nd Stage Theatre is located at 6500 Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood.

This is a special treat: watching two great actors play alongside one another in a play that is so relevant to our lives right now. Come on True Blood fans, let’s make sure we get seats for this buzz worthy production as well as get our True Blood fix while we wait for Season 4.
