Kristin Bauer Speaks Out on Earth Day to Save the Whales

April 23, 2010 by

Kristin Bauer who plays vampire Eric’s sidekick, Pam, on True Blood attended a rally in Washington D.C. on April 22nd. The rally was part of the Earth Day Network’s celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. During this time Kristin also did an interview with EcoPlanet radio live at the rally.

Kristin explained what a special day Earth Day is and that she attended the rally not only in support of Earth Day but to help bring attention to a cause that is dear to her, saving the whales! She is working to help the organization IFAW – International Fund for Animal Welfare to bring national attention to this cause.  Kristin explains in the interview how it has not been an easy road for IFAW to save whales even with commercial whaling being illegal.  However, now with the news that the Obama administration is considering lifting that ban on commercial whaling, well that is devastating to IFAW and its mission to saving the whales. Kristin is optimistic though that this can be changed once the administration sees that people care about this cause!

Kristin also talked about her husband’s own efforts to support IFAW and saving the whales. As a lot of True Blood fans know, Kristin’s husband, Abri van Straten is a musician, and he has written a song for IFAW in support of saving the whales and bringing attention to this cause.  The song is entitled “Voices From the Blue”.  All the proceeds from the sale of the song will be given to IFAW to help fund their “Save the Whales” campaign. You can download the song for $1.99 here. Kristin explains that they figure everyone has $2.00 and that together we can change the course of history.

Towards the end of the interview Kristin does discuss True Blood and the new third season of the show premiering June 13th on HBO.  Kristin doesn’t give away anything but does talk about how much fun it has been this season and that they are halfway through filming and can’t wait for the fans to see it.
