Lending a Hand in These Tough Times:

True Blood's Kristin Bauer van StratenKristin Bauer van Straten may be narcissistic and selfish as Vampire Pam on HBO‘s True Blood, but in real life, she couldn’t be more opposite.  The blonde beauty is intensely passionate about animal rights and the environment, and is consistently active in a plethora of charitable endeavors.  It should come as no surprise, then, that she will be hosting this year’s Grand Slam Charity Jam.  Her husband, Abri van Straten will be performing, as well as Sugar Ray.  Bauer made the announcement for the event Monday via Twitter saying:

“Guess we’ll just keep showin up for the good guys! Abri & I in Milwaukee April 2 for charity!”

According to the event’s website, it will be held on April 2 at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, and all proceeds will benefit over fifty charities in Southeastern Wisconsin.  For most of us, it may be difficult to donate to charity in these tough times, but we should bear in mind that everyone is affected.  To this end, the good people of the Grand Slam Charity Jam offer these words:

“With unemployment and a very challenging economy, many charities are experiencing an increased demand for their programs and services. Yet, the same charities are likely struggling with a decrease in revenue and limited staff resources… This exciting and unique event will provide an ideal avenue for charities to raise funds and awareness of their vital missions, without having to extend significant staff and financial resources.  Our goal is to raise at least $100,000 that will be divided among our participating charities.”

We commend Kristin for all her charitable work, and look forward to seeing her on Season 4 of True Blood!  Be sure to follow her on Twitter for the latest news and info on some very worthy causes.
