gg2009annanew1It has been a week since Anna Paquin won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Drama in her portrayal of Sookie Stackhouse in Alan Ball’s successful HBO TV series “True Blood” and the papers in New Zealand continue to post information about her win and reactions. The papers claim that although Anna is back in the spotlight again with her award she has still remained humble and down-to-earth. The papers focused on her comments following the her win as an indication that although she is a big hollywood star she has not forgotten her roots and remained modest. Anna commented to the press about her win “I was the pale brunette from New Zealand, and I’m playing this Southern tanned blonde, essentially a Hooters waitress.” She went further to say that this award is “100 percent cooler” than her Best Supporting Actress Oscar win for The Piano at age 11. “I don’t even remember that, it was very blurry and crazy,” Paquin says. “This is quite blurry and crazy too, but at least I’m old enough to drink and stay out past 10pm.
