A Spotlight Look At Jim Parrack On His Birthday

February 8, 2010 by

True Blood viewers have fallen in love with Hoyt Fortenberry. A small but stable presence during Season 1 of True Blood as Jason and Rene‘s naive friend, Hoyt became one of the favorite characters during Season 2 as he won the heart of baby vamp Jessica with blood-scented candles and wilted bouquets of flowers. While the rest of Bon Temps was going crazy under Maryann‘s influence, scenes with Hoyt and Jessica provided some relief from the chaos with their sweet, and humorous, experience of first love. The actor who brings Hoyt to life is Jim Parrack.

Born in Allen, Texas, Jim was greatly influenced by actors Robert Duvall and Marlon Brando when he was growing up. He moved to Hollywood when he was only twenty years old. A friend recommended that he look into the community theatre Playhouse West, where Jim continues to take acting classes and perform in plays.

Over the past five years, Jim had a part in the film Annapolis and guest roles on series like Monk, ER, Grey’s Anatomy, and NCIS. When he auditioned for True Blood, there wasn’t much Hoyt dialogue, so after reading through the lines, he spent the rest of the time talking with executive producer Alan Ball, who was one of his creative heroes. Something about him charmed Alan because he got the part, and two seasons later we fans have all been charmed by Jim as well.

Read any interview with him and you will find a young man who is truly humble and grateful for all the blessings in his life. He gushes about his beautiful, talented wife, Ciera. His passion for acting comes through in all the work he does. In addition to True Blood, he is always doing theatre and working on his own projects for his company, 120 Productions Inc.

So on this, his 29th birthday, we here at TrueBloodNet.com would like to wish Jim Parrack a very happy birthday and many more blessings in the year to come!
