Lauren Bowles Talks True Blood Season Four

March 12, 2011

Why We Love Her

During an interview for Hall Pass, Lauren Bowles was around to ask some questions about the new season four of True Blood. Lauren is  known to us “truebies” as Holly Clearly who is a witchy waitress at Merlottes with an adorable little boy.

True News

While Lauren was careful about what she said,

“I want to keep my job”, she did spill the beans on a few things.  Lauren says, “”I can say that because Alan [Ball] acknowledged that at the end of last season, that this year would be the season of the witch. Anything that’s already out there I can confirm. But outside of that, not much. I can tell you this much: it’s a fantastic job and I’d like to hold on to it.”

She dishes on the cast by saying that they are all truly that nice, and awesome to work with on a show.

Hall Pass

Her recently released movie Hall Pass was talked about as well, where she described working with the Farrelly Brothers as a dream, and while at that time she had not seen the whole movie, she was very excited about the production.

Can’t wait to see this witch again and more this season starting in June.

True Blood’s Sam Trammell and Lauren Bowles on Set

March 3, 2011

Spoiler Alert!  Spotted on Location:

True Blood's Sam Trammell & Lauren Bowles on Set

Read on if you don’t mind finding out beforehand what’s going to happen on our favorite show, HBO‘s True Blood.  On February 24th, a lucky photographer got some great shots of Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), Lauren Bowles (Holly Cleary) and Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur) on set filming a new episode.  They were on location in Eagle Rock, CA.  The scene involved Sam and Detective Andy Bellefleur coming to Holly’s aid, as her house was on fire.  It looks like they manage to save her couch.

In other news, it’s been confirmed that our favorite maker, Godric (Allan Hyde), will be returning for what we can only presume to be flashbacks.  Are you excited, Truebies?  We think season four is gearing up to be another fine season.  Check out the pictures of the cast on location here.

Lauren Bowles of True Blood on Wiccans and Witches and Weres

September 13, 2010

When Lauren Bowles found out about the audition for the role of Holly Cleary on the Emmy Award winning HBO series, True Blood, she was “over the moon”. Lauren reveals in her latest interview with thetvchick that since she never really thought she’d actually get the role of Holly, why not just go enjoy meeting everyone and do her best?”When I got the call,” Lauren says,” I can’t even tell you, it’s like I spontaneously combusted. I was so excited.” She was also a big fan of Alan Ball long before True Blood and considered American Beauty one of her all time favorite movies. Lauren believes Alan Ball is brilliant says, “I think becoming a part of something that he’s at the helm of, was really just an absolute dream come true.”

What Makes the Show and The Role of Holly So Special?

I’ve done guest spots on a gazillion different shows. And when you just come in to do the one show for a week and then you’re gone, you’re really more of a literary device than you are a real person or character. It’s hard to develop something quickly, and so that’s what great fun about her. I really think they’ve got a good vision of her and where they want her to go and so that’s been great fun to just sort of play a more fleshed out character. And then on top of it, I know this is a boring sound byte and you’ll think it’s just bullshit, but it’s the coolest set and I’m not just saying that. It truly is. Because trust me, I’ve been on plenty of sets that just are like “Oh God, get me out of here.” This is just the opposite of that. It really is. Everyone from wardrobe to makeup to hair to the cast to the writers and producers, everyone just seems really happy to be here. That’s rare.

Black Cat Got Your Tongue?

Lauren mentioned that the only information about her character, or the show, that she can discuss is what has already been revealed.  But she admits, “I’m not really being coy either, I have really no idea where they plan to go with her.  Lauren believes Holly is intuitive,  grounded and that her character has a huge heart and relates to people. She believes Holly and Arlene share common experiences such as being working moms and that’s what brought them together. She also noted that she’d love to see the relationship between Holly and Arlene expand and a friendship with Sookie would be wonderful. Finally it’d just be wonderful to be integrated into the town in general.

What Has Been the Most Difficult Part So Far?

Probably just learning to honor the tone in the world that I’m entering, and wanting to feel like “Okay, I’m here and I fit and it looks like I should be here.” Just because when you’re new to the party, there’s always that wallflower in all of us that’s sort of like “Oh wait, how’d I get here? Wait, I want to do good.” And so I’d probably say that element. Because just like I said, I’m such a fan, so I really wanted to make sure that I honored the world.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

When it comes to fangs versus fur Lauren believes Holly is very open minded. She doesn’t think her character would judge a person, or animal for that matter, by their gene pool.  She thinks that Holly depends more on her powers of intuition to help her sense who is good or who is up to no good.
And if you’re wondering if there are any fellas in Bon Temps that Lauren thinks Holly would like to hang out with,  the answer is, YES!  Hoyt and Jason.  She says she’s a huge fan of both of these gentlemen as well as all the vampires.  She admitted it doesn’t hurt in the least that all of the guys are pretty easy on the eyes.
As for whom Lauren hangs out with in her personal life? Well, that would be her husband, fellow actor, Patrick Fischler.  The two love nothing better than sitting around and watching television together. Something tells me we aren’t the only fans who’ll be impatiently waiting for the next season of True Blood to air.

Lauren Bowles Pinches Herself Over True Blood

September 3, 2010

Lauren Bowles True Blood Holly ClearyTalking with The National Ledger, Lauren Bowles said she is definitely bringing her character, Holly Cleary, back to Bon Temps in Season 4 of HBO‘s True Blood.

Referring to creator Alan Ball‘s revelation that Season 4 will be “the season of the witch”, Lauren said her casting as a witch is “completely surreal”.

“I watched the show from the beginning, so I couldn’t have been more psyched about becoming a part of this world.  It didn’t seem within the realm of possibility.  I’m pinching myself.”

Holly was introduced late in the season as a single mom with ‘skills’, taking on the waitress job at Merlotte’s.  Her role is becoming more prominent as is her relationship with Arlene (Carrie Preston).  But other than stating she’s returning next season, Lauren says she doesn’t know much else.

While waiting for filming to start up again, Lauren stays busy with her 16 month-old daughter and the new house she and her husband recently moved into.

We don’t know what we’ll see witch Holly doing in the season finale, but fans will just have to wait until it airs on September 12. Yes, waiting sucks!

Lauren Bowles Says Holly is Not a Witch

August 22, 2010

Lauren Bolwes True Blood Holly ClearyLauren Bowles loves her job playing Holly Cleary, Merlotte’s new waitress on HBO‘s True Blood. But speaking with MovieWeb, she could only share a very little bit of information about her.

Leading up to the season’s finale, we will learn a bit more about what Holly is up to. She does not consider herself a witch but does follow the Wiccan lifestyle. Lauren said that Holly and Arlene continue to become good buddies. In her words, “there is a blooming friendship there that will grow”.

Although Lauren referred to Alan Ball‘s statement that next season will be “The Year of the Witch”, she has no idea what his plans are. However, Alan did reveal recently that the character, Hallow Stonebrook, will be introduced as a were-sorceress. Lauren thinks she will be the big Season 4 villain.

When asked if she thinks Alan will follow Charlaine Harris‘ books regarding the storyline of Holly, Lauren couldn’t say.

“That is such a good question. This is how good Alan is, because you cannot pin him down. There are a lot of things that he has stuck to. I know he uses the books as blueprints, but he veers story wise when he feels it is best to veer.”

One open question relates to Holly and Hoyt. In the books they get together. But Jessica has been created as Hoyt‘s love interest, so there’s no telling what’s in store for Holly‘s love life. On a personal level, Lauren would definitely like to see Holly and Hoyt hook up.

Talking about how True Blood creates its own reality, Lauren said when she’s in the real world she starts viewing it through the eyes of her fictitious character. In fact, she said she still gets shocked when Ryan Kwanten talks in his native Australian accent. She expects to hear Jason Stackhouse because the characters have come to life for her.

When asked if she thinks vampires are real, Lauren vehemently said no. She believes that “vampires are the ultimate symbol of the bad boy outsider”.

As far as the content of the scripts are concerned, Lauren has so much admiration for Alan Ball‘s vision and writing, that she gets super excited when she gets her scripts.

Alan Ball has a very dark sensibility, but it’s a twisted, funny one that I really gravitate towards.”

And having the show run in the summertime is just where it belongs. Lauren said that like the the summer, True Blood is hot and steamy.

Season 3 concludes on September 12th. Don’t miss these last few episodes.

Meet True Blood’s Newest Merlotte’s Waitress Holly Cleary

August 10, 2010

We just met Holly Cleary on True Blood in the previous episode, and already we know she’s special and will be important in the future. (As Holly and Arlene chatted, Holly mentioned that Arlene is pregnant without Arlene telling her.) The actress behind Holly, Lauren Bowles, has a little to say about her character on HBO‘s hit series, and for good reason:

“It’s no joke. For the first time [in my career] I signed a confidentiality agreement.”

However, as we learned from watching her chat with Arlene, there’s more to Holly than meets the eye. It has been revealed that Holly will be in the rest of True Blood‘s third season, and she’ll also be back for Season 4. We also know that Holly, like Arlene, has two children, though she’s a single mother and Arlene has Terry.

In the meantime, Lauren describes Holly as being “sort of warm-hearted but very grounded” and hints that Holly‘s special abilities will be more developed as we get to know her better. We can only begin to wonder how Holly will affect Bon Temps since there’s so little information available about her currently. However, we can learn more about Lauren Bowles.

Lauren is a huge fan of Alan Ball‘s, and she went into her audition just hoping to do a good job so that Alan would be willing to call her back for another role if necessary. Of course, that proved unnecessary as she was offered the role of Holly Cleary. We all welcome Lauren to True Blood and we can’t wait to see what kind of mayhem Holly brings with her to Bon Temps.

Lauren Bowles Talk About her Character Holly Cleary

August 5, 2010

She’s new in town and we will meet her on Sunday.  Lauren Bowles is Holly Cleary, Merlotte’s newest waitress.  In an interview on Fancast, we learned a few things about Lauren and about Holly.

Lauren said she only had one audition for the role and did not expect to get the part.  And because she was a huge fan of True Blood and everything Alan Ball, she screamed when she did get it and when she found out that Holly would be coming back in Season 4.

“I always knew it was a possibility.  When I got that call, it was another huge scream!”

As with the other actors on the show, Lauren was pretty tight-lipped about her character.  In Charlaine Harris‘ books, Holly is a witch.  Rumor has it that Alan is keeping to the books on this one, but Lauren said she signed a confidentiality agreement and can’t confirm or deny.  She did, however, say that Holly has “some interesting abilities that will develop”.

Holly is a single mom and she and Arlene become good friends.  Off the set, Lauren has bonded with both Carrie Preston (Arlene) and Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), who she says is “pretty easy to look at”.

The interview got around to asking Lauren about her True Blood favorite characters.

“I was a ginormous Lafayette fan.  Huge Hoyt fan.  Huge Jason fan.  Jason honestly deserves his own spin off.  He’s hilarious.  Arlene, obviously.”

Regarding Team Bill or Team Alcide, Lauren said she doesn’t know how anyone can not vote for Bill.  He and Sookie “just seem destined”.

Now here’s a great question for the new waitress.  “What’s the best thing on the menu at Merlotte’s?”

Answer: “I’m not going to lie.  It’s not the best food in town, but you’re pretty safe with a bowl of gumbo and a beer.”
