Radio Interview With True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard

September 15, 2014

Alexander Skarsgard Rings in From London to Chat on Ralphie Tonight:

ALEXANDER-SKARSGARD-THE-GIVERAlexander Skarsgard (who played viking vampire Eric Northman in HBO’s True Blood) discusses the morality of his latest role in the movie adaption of Lois Lowry’s dystopian novel, The Giver.

For fans of the book, Alexander will play the part of Jonas’s father. He is a character who, according to our moral standards is possibly a character who is morally corrupt. Alexander Skarsgard argues against this opinion as, for his character, his moral standing is based on a criteria that is vastly different to ours. You can view the partial synopsis for this movie below:

The setting is a utopian society in the year 2048. After “a big war”, the community had decided to get rid of colors, therefore different races and feelings. All the citizens have had the memories from before erased from their minds. The communities are run by the Elders, a circle of senior citizens who have supreme authority over everyone’s way of life.

Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is an 18-year-old about to graduate from school with his best friends Fiona (Odeya Rush) and Asher (Cameron Monaghan). Jonas’ father and mother (Alexander Skarsgård and Katie Holmes) are anxious at what path their son will be chosen for. At the graduation celibration where the entire community attends, Jonas is skipped over until the Chief Elder (Meryl Streep) awards him as ‘Receiver of Memory’ as his future. According to the law, the Receiver must receive the only memories of before from the past receiver, The Giver (Jeff Bridges). The Receiver of Memory is the only individual in the community who has the memories and must advise the Chief Elder, and the other Elders, on the decisions for the community, who are unaware of anything that happened before their community.

The full synopsis can be read here, but please be aware it may contain spoilers.

Alexander also talks about jamming with Taylor Swift on the set of The Giver – or his lack of it!

VIDEO: True Blood’s Riley Smith Discusses Being the Latecomer

August 30, 2014

Joining HBO’s True Blood Was Like Joining a Family:

Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston) and Keith (Riley Smith) star in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 7 (entitled 'May Be the Last Time')For newcomer, Riley Smith, joining the cast of HBO’s True Blood was daunting, but the cast welcomed him with open arms – especially Anna Paquin (who plays main character Sookie Stackhouse)!

Riley joined the cast of True Blood for the final season as vampire Keith, a member of James’s (Nathan Parsons) band seen in Episode 1 (entitled Jesus Gonna Be Here) of Season 7. He falls for waitress Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston) after he saves her life by giving her his blood in order to heal her. Their relationship is hindered right from the start though considering Arlene has never been a vampire advocate as well as the fact she is a Hep-V carrier. In the True Blood finale (Episode 10, entitled Thank You), we see Keith and Arlene seem to have their happily ever after.

In the video interview below, Riley discusses the True Blood family, their fans and plenty more with AfterBuzz TV hosts Kristin Carole and Scott Moore. Riley also discusses his character’s relationship with waitress Arlene and how there possibly wasn’t enough time left to really flesh out their love story. He was also unaware of just how much of a fan favorite Arlene is to the truebies.

Let us know your thoughts on Keith, Arlene and their happy ending by commenting below!

EXCLUSIVE Interview with Dr. Ludwig’s Marcia DeRousse!

August 4, 2014

Marcia DeRousse Pops Into TrueBloodNet to Answer Some Questions:

Dr Ludwig (Marcia DeRousse) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) star in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 7 (entitled 'May Be the Last Time')For fans of HBO’s True Blood, Season 7 has been the season for cameo appearances. It seems the HBO writers are eager to bring back as many fan favorites as is feasibly possible. In just the last episode alone we welcomed back Hoyt Fortenberry (Jim Parrack) and the pocket rocket that is Dr. Ludwig!

And for fans of Dr. L, the actress who plays the miracle worker to the supernatural, Marcia DeRousse, her latest guest appearance was just as unexpected as it was to the fans:

I was shocked, more than anything else. I thought Dr. Ludwig had been put away for good. So, after the shock, I was also excited. I was just happy every time Dr. L was brought in. This time was the most fun, but I loved all three stories she was in.

she said when she stopped in for a quick chat with TrueBloodNet.

In Episode 7 (entitled May Be the Last Time) we find Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) desperate to find a cure for Bill Compton’s (Stephen Moyer) accelerated dose of Hep-V. Considering Sookie suspects her fae blood may be the reason Bill’s strain is so virulent, she calls in resident doctor to the supernatural, Dr. Ludwig, to try and sort it all out. While Dr. L leaves in a hurry once she realizes Sookie is related to dwarf killer, Niall Brigant (Rutger Hauer), is it possible Dr. Ludwig could have helped cure Bill, if she were given enough time? According to Marcia:

I think she THINKS she could cure Hep-V, but as to whether she actually could – well, who knows? She is a pretty kick-ass character, but maybe not the actual best doctor! (Please don’t tell her I said that! HA!)

Don’t worry, your secret is safe with us Marcia 😉

While she may be the best doctor out there (after all, even Sookie thinks her bedside manner sucks), for many Truebies, there was absolute excitement over her return to Season 7. And, after reading all the recaps and reviews on Episode 7, there was barely a bad word to be said about the return of Dr. Ludwig – other than her lack of airtime.  What does Marcia think is the widespread appeal of Dr. Ludwig?

You know I don’t now, except she is so crotchety and blunt perhaps people wish they could be more like her – and get away with it! LOL Whatever the reason is, I am so grateful and love everyone back one hundred fold.

I think Marcia may be onto something there. Personally, I always loved her honesty and genuine comic relief in situations (this season especially) that would normally be quite dire. Speaking of drastic situations, Dr. Ludwig has had to deal with a maenad, Pam’s (Kristin Bauer van Straten) rotting face and, now, Bill’s grotesque Hep-V veins over her time on True Blood. While many supernatural creatures have also appeared over the seven seasons, which creature would Marcia have liked to see explored in True Blood, if we were given another season?

Hmmmm… might have been fun for a poltergeist to show up – a true trouble maker – that would need to have Dr. Ludwig intervene to calm those pesky tendencies down! And since my dear friend, Zelda Rubinstein starred in the Poltergeist movies, I feel it might have been fitting.

That sure would have been awesome. I could just imagine a poltergeist showing up and disturbing all the patrons at Merlotte’s, for example. Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) could have even helped Dr. Ludwig with that dilemma!

Now that True Blood is meeting it’s true death, what does Marcia have in store for her fans down the track?

Several things in the works – all of them cool – and need lots of energy and good thoughts and prayers from all of you so they come to be! Of course, I always stay busy with Spiritual work.

So we need to keep our fingers crossed and let the energies flow so we can see Marcia DeRousse back on our screens as soon as possible.

Finally, I had one last question to ask Marcia. One that has been asked of every cast member recently: Did she take (or receive) any True Blood memento’s? Also, if she could have taken anything from the set, what would it have been?

LOL! I did not take anything from the set- except the hair bands and pins left in my hair. What I got from True Blood was a group of the most wonderful people in the world – on the set, and as fans and friends. Thank you so much. I love all of you!

And we love you too Marcia DeRousse! Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down and chat with us here at TrueBloodNet. Also, thanks for bringing such a wonderful and much loved character to life on True Blood.

True Blood Season 7: Who Stole Anna Paquin’s Underwear?

July 31, 2014

EW Recently Interviewed the True Blood Cast About Things Going ‘Missing’ on the True Blood Set:

Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse in HBO's True BloodThe most popular question – by far – asked of the True Blood cast now that their show has ended has been along the lines of; “What have you taken from the set as a memento?”

Recently, EW on SIRIUSXM radio also asked this question – with some surprising results! It seems, while many cast members are reluctant to say they have outright stolen items from the set to keep as personal mementos of their time on the long running vampire series, Anna Paquin (who plays main character, Sookie Stackhouse) had an interesting story to share about why she had to make some of her underwear ‘disappear’.

Deborah Ann Woll (who plays baby vampire Jessica Hamby) also fesses up to an item she stole as well! And what do you think Stephen Moyer (who plays main character, vampire Bill Compton) took?

You can listen to the Sound Cloud clip to hear all the hilarious stories:

COMIC CON 2014: True Blood Cast Hints at a ‘Not Happily Ever After’

July 29, 2014

Are Eric and Pam True Blood’s Version of ‘True Love’ Then?

True to the End HBO True Blood Season 7 promo posterLast weekend at San Diego’s Comic Con 2014, Zap2It got to talk to the cast of HBO’s True Blood about things such as true love and happy ends and do they exist in the Sookieverse. So how do the residents of Bon Temps and Shreveport view love in this TV series?

According to Kristin Bauer van Straten, who plays vampire Pam, she feels her character’s relationship with her maker, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) transcends the idyllic notion of true love – after all they have been together for more than a hundred years. She suggests that their love is perfect and unconditional after all their time together.

Nelsan Ellis (who plays the flamboyant Lafayette Reynolds) thinks that his character could definitely find true love. And then immediately backs it up with a ‘but we’ll have to wait and see‘ stock response. Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur), on the other hand, believes his character has come to forgive vampires and has had the realization that vendettas are actually pointless. Once he discovers this, he also finds out that he is no longer alone in this word any more.

As for Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler-Bellefleur) and Anna Camp (who plays god-shopper and resident baddie, Sarah Newlin), both women agree that Arlene could possibly be the only person who could talk some sense into Sarah. But apparently the pair never get a scene together, so it is a moot point. Although, this would indicate that Sarah Newlin’s story line could be held entirely in Dallas for this final season. And what a shame too, that is one southern scrag fight I would have loved to see!

Stephen Moyer’s (who plays vampire Bill Compton who is currently suffering from an accelerated dose of Hep-V) words are possibly the most telling though. When asked about whether there will be a happy ending for anyone in True Blood Season 7, his reply was:

I’m not sure that’s how Alan Ball conceived things. Even though Alan’s not running the show any more, happily ever after is something that we have always known on our show that as soon as something good happens to a character, something bad is about to happen. So, do you ever know? Are they ever happy? I don’t know.

True Blood Season 7: “Everyone is Fair Game,” says Anna Paquin

July 16, 2014

Anna Paquin Talks to Huffington Post About True Blood’s Final Season:

Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse in HBOs True Blood Season 7 Episode 3 entitled Fire in the HoleTruebie fans have already come to believe that no one is safe in HBO’s True Blood Season 7 after the recent deaths of two major characters, but now Anna Paquin (who plays Sookie Stackhouse) has confirmed this in a video interview she did recently with Huffington Post:

The first season or two people who were big characters were dying and then there was this sort of lull in the middle where if they were a big character they were probably pretty safe. And I feel, story telling wise, that gets a little safe and our show is not that and so, this year, they literally went; ‘Everyone is fair game.’ And that is, you know, a very specific choice and it keeps everyone, you know, on their toes.

Interviewer, Alyona Minkovski, was quick to jump in and point out the deaths that have occurred so far in Season 7 feel very unceremonious – especially compared to previous seasons of True Blood. Anna confirmed this but also expanded on the idea by explaining that these low key deaths are actually the point. Death is so common on True Blood – and notably more so in Season 7 – that the people of Bon Temps are becoming numb to the constant string of loss.

So when is too much death enough?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
