All-Star Cast of ‘Ruby Sparks’ Includes True Blood Actress:

Deborah Ann Woll As Jessica HambyThe romantic comedy ‘Ruby Sparks’, releasing in theaters July 25th, counts Deborah Ann Woll among its cast. Ms. Woll plays vampire Jessica Hamby in HBO’s True Blood.

The trailer for ‘Ruby Sparks’ features co-writer and star Zoe Kazan, along with her co-star and boyfriend, Paul Dano. The scenes are strung together to give a clear and concise preview of the film’s premise, love story, and comedic moments.

“It’s love! It’s magic!”

Dano’s character, Calvin, is a writer with a serious case of writer’s block. He creates the fictional character of Ruby Sparks, played by Kazan, in an effort to overcome his block. When Calvin begins to fall in love with Ruby, she magically appears as flesh and blood in his apartment. With the help of his humorous friend, Calvin discovers that his writing has a direct influence over Ruby’s character and actions.

‘Ruby Sparks’ was helmed by ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The supporting cast includes Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Elliott Gould, Steve Coogan, Chris Messina, Alia Shawkat and Aasif Mandvi. The movie’s trailer presents what appears to be a unique love story with some truly humorous moments.

Video: New Clip From Alexander Skarsgård’s “Battleship”

May 1, 2012

New Clip Shows Off Sexy True Blood Star, and Others:

Alexander Skarsgård in BattleshipFor Truebies like me, the only thing it’s going to take to get me into theaters to see Battleship is seeing True Blood’s alpha vamp EricAlexander Skarsgård, in the trailers. I don’t need to be a fan of board game based movies to be interested in seeing as much of him as I can get. Am I right ladies?

The newest clip from the film shows us two things straight away. First off, even though this movie is about aliens and things are exploding, the film is full of sexy people. The new clip does a fantastic job of showcasing Skarsgård’s beautiful blues.

The second thing is that this movie is clearly more than an action film. Like many before, this movie seems to be working to establish an emotional core between the characters. This bodes well for any of us ladies looking for more than just action here. Not sure yet if Skarsgård’s character will have any romantic interests, but at least the film has more dimension than previously thought.

Director Peter Berg recently shared exactly how he decided to cast Skarsgård in the role as Stone Hopper:

“All the girls in the office stormed into my office and demanded that we cast him,” Berg said. “And then when I met him, my son was there, and [Alex] got out of his Audi R8 — that’s my son’s dream car. My son just stood there with his jaw open, staring first at him, then at his car, and he said, ‘Dad, it’s non-negotiable. Alex is in the movie.’ “

Clearly Alex’s charms work on more than just the ladies.

In this new clip, which is from earlier in the film, we see Skarsgård’s character and his brother, played by Taylor Kitsch, sitting in a hole in the wall bar celebrating Kitsch’s birthday. Then Brooklyn Decker arrives, and sexy awkwardness ensues.

Video: Trailer For Carrie Preston’s “That’s What She Said”

March 17, 2012

Carrie Preston Directs Feature-Length Independent Film:

Carrie Preston - Director, That's What She SaidActress Carrie Preston portrays waitress Arlene Fowler on HBO’s True Blood. She recently went behind the camera to direct, ‘That’s What She Said’. Ms. Preston’s production company, Daisy3Pictures, produced the film that was shown at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

The trailer for ‘That’s What She Said’ would lead you to think the movie is about a woman getting support from her friends after her date stands her up. Really, it’s about BeBe, seeking support from her cynical best-friend Dee Dee, the day of the most romantic date of her life. They find themselves inexplicably joined by Clementine, a stranger-turned-friend, who has just endured a break-up and can’t stop discussing a certain part of her anatomy. Ms. Preston explains:

“As the day goes on, the friendship gets more honest, more crude, and it introduces one of life’s greatest riddles; why does everything always have to be so hard?”

‘That’s What She Said’ is based on the play, ‘Girl Talk’. The play was written by a friend of Ms. Preston, Kelly Overbey (Unforgettable, The Good Wife), who also appears in the film. Ms. Preston directed the play eight years ago and always dreamt of one day helming the film. The cast also includes Anne Heche (Hung), who plays cynical best-friend Dee Dee; Marcia DeBonis (Curb Your Enthusiasm) reprises her lead role in ‘Girl Talk’, BeBe; and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) rounds out the cast as self-professed nymphomaniac, Clementine. Ms. Preston describes the film as:

“It’s a look at how friendship can survive chronic sarcasm, bizarre stranger danger, an unexplained itch, and a dangerous dildo.”

Ms. Preston’s film, ‘That’s What She Said’, has been accepted for screening by several film festivals, some or all of which, Ms. Preston will be attending.

Video: Alexander Skarsgård’s “Straw Dogs” Trailer

May 13, 2011

A Monster of a Different Sort:

Alexander Skarsgård, known to True Blood lovers as the Viking vampire sheriff Eric Northman, plays a monster of an altogether different sort in this year’s remake of Straw Dogs.  Random factoid: the lucky dog met his current belle, Kate Bosworth, during filming.  The dramatic thriller also stars James Marsden.  Bosworth and Marsden portray a married couple who relocate to the South, and encounter some ugliness, to say the least.  Would you go to any lengths just to see our handsome Swede on the big screen?  Let us know what you think after viewing the trailer!

Video: New Trailer for “Priest” with Stephen Moyer

January 15, 2011

A Different Vampire Project

Priest movie poster (featuring Stephen Moyer)Stephen Moyer, otherwise known as Vampire Bill Compton on HBO‘s hit series True Blood, is starring in an upcoming film titled “Priest“.  A sci-fi thriller in 3D, it is based on the graphic novel series of the same name, written by Min-Woo Hyung.  Paul Bettany plays the lead role of “Priest”, and for Stephen Moyer (who plays his brother Aaron), the tables have turned — he plays a mortal in a world ravaged by vampires.

Upon learning that his niece Lucy (played by Lily Collins), has been kidnapped, the warrior priest breaks his Church vows in order to track down the vampires responsible, and to find Lucy before she is turned.  Joining him on this quest is a warrior priestess played by Maggie Q, and Lucy’s sheriff boyfriend, played by Cam Gigandet.

Director Scott Charles Stewart also directed Legion, and worked the visual effects on a slew of other popular films, which include: Mars Attacks; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire; Superman Returns; Pirates of the Caribbean (2 and 3); Night at the Museum, and Iron Man.  Written by Cory Goodman and Min-Woo Hyung, Priest will be released on May 13.  Fans of the cult classic TV show Twin Peaks will be pleasantly surprised to see one of its beauties in the film, as well.

The movie looks interesting for sure, but definitely not for the faint of heart.  Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think!
