True Blood Season 7 Spoilers: Is Lettie Mae Really Trying to Poison Tara?

August 20, 2013

True Blood Season 7 Spoilets Alert! Look Away Now if You Don’t Want to Know:

Adina Porter (Lettie Mae) and Rutina Wesley (Tara) star in HBO's True Blood Season 6In HBO’s True Blood Season 6 finale, we find Tara’s (Rutina Wesley) mom apologising to her daughter for the years of abuse she copped while growing up. This has immediately sent up red flags to the trubie fan base.

Could Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) actually be trying to poison her?

Fans are wondering this after watching the church scene (from True Blood Episode 10, entitled Radioactive) where Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) tries to convince the members of Bon Temps to hook up with a healthy vampire for protection against the Hep V infected mobs that are roaming the area. In this scene, one man jumps up and announces he’d like to be infected with Hep V (which doesn’t kill humans) so he can kill vampires.

Could this be the path Lettie Mae is taking? Could she be killing her daughter rather than nourishing her?

(And if you don’t like spoilers, then don’t read any further.)

Well, True Blood’s showrunner, Brian Buckner, had this to say about that idea:

One thing that I noticed – and I probably shouldn’t read as much as I’ve been reading, but I have been, in terms of audience reaction – is the idea that characters can’t change. I will put to bed one thing for you: this idea that Lettie Mae is trying to poison Tara? It’s absurd. That is genuine. And I realize that on our show, because it’s been so incredibly plot-driven for the past several years, you insert a Big Bad and then have the characters react in the way we expect them to react. That’s sort of what’s been going on. When we let characters change, when we let the show be character-driven, I think people don’t know what to do with that. So with Lettie Mae and Tara, not to say that everything is going to go great, but the conflict is not going to be she’s poisoning Tara.

So there you have it, maybe Tara’s mom finally has changed? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

It appears that the 2013 Comic-Con was yet again a success for the True Blood cast and fans! Even though our two favourite male vamps were absent( Alexander Skarsgard, and Stephen Moyer) the panel pulled through with lots of insight on the remainder of the season! The panel included Anna Paquin, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Nelsan Ellis, Deborah Ann Woll, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Joe Manganiello, Anna Camp, Michael McMillian and Rob Kazinsky. The True Blood Panel was moderated by TV Guides Kate Hahn.

The True Blood segment kicked off with a video clip of teasers for the 2nd half of the current Season 6. Truebloodnet.com has posted this video if you are eager to check it out!

Here are a few favourite questions and responses:

“Ryan Kwanten on Jason’s “noble” quest to find his parents’ killer – “There’s a lot more in store for Jason – he gets real crazy, real soon. He likes to think he’s Rambo, but fails miserably!”

Deborah Ann Woll on Jessica’s self loathing following season six’s dark twists: “Jessica’s going to have to pay dearly within her own heart for what happened – it’s going to take a long time for her to forgive herself.”

True Blood newbie Rob Kazinsky is bowled over by the reception he’s getting from Comic-Con fans. He also promises we’ll get both light and dark from Warlow this season. “You’re going to see some gnarly stuff!”

Buckner promises that True Blood will “return to its roots” at the end of this season, returning focus to its core characters: “We’re really going to make it feel like we’re coming home.”

Rutina Wesley Talks About THAT Death in HBO’s True Blood Season 6

July 17, 2013

Is Tara Meeting the True Death?

Rutina Wesley stars as Tara Thornton in HBO's True Blood Season 6Recently, Katie Krause, from ClevverNews.com, got the chance to interview Rutina Wesley, who plays Tara Thronton in HBO’s True Blood Season 6.

While there was plenty to talk about with Rutina’s character, the biggest question was ‘Who is going to die in Season 6?’ With many people claiming Episode 6 will be the one in which this character dies, the clock is ticking rapidly towards their demise it seems. This assumption is based on the fact that Episode 7 was, until recently, entitled The Funeral (now known by the title In the Evening)Of course the title for Episode 6 raises plenty of questions if this is indeed the killing episode. Don’t You feel Me? is it’s name, and to me, this makes me think of the bond between vampires and their makers. Could it be a vampire that bites the dust? Or perhaps a Stackhouse sibling?

Katie Krause asked Rutina Wesley if she would give us a hint:

You want me to say who it is? No, absolutely not. I love my job too much.

Krause was persistent though and we have this little gem from Rutina about the round table read:

We kept reading… We stopped for a moment… let that sink in and gave that person their due and then we kept going. I can tell you that much.

My, doesn’t the plot thicken? It kind of sounds like Rutina mourned for someone else. So is Tara safe? Only time will tell. So make sure you tune into HBO this Sunday for True Blood Season 6!

True Blood’s Pam: Good or Evil?

June 13, 2013

Kristin Bauer Van Straten Talks Season 6:

Kristen Bauer van Straten stars as Pam the vampire in Season 6 of HBO's True Blood

Being only days away from HBO’s True Blood Season 6 premier, let’s rewind and remember where our favorite sharp-tongued lady vamp of Fangtasia was up to.

Oh right. When we last saw Pam, played by Kristin Bauer van Straten, she was consumating her obviously growing attraction to her progency Tara Thornton (played by Rutina Wesley) with a smoldering lip-lock. Will Pam and Tara’s relationship survive the upcoming human vs. vampire war? Will Pam have more quick-witted one-liners? We hope so! Here’s what Kristin had to say about Pam’s role in season 6:

“I think it’s safe to say there is a human-vampire conflict that’s escalated from what the Authority did last year. And that, of course, causes problems for Pam. So she’s trying to figure out her relationship with her new baby/lover, you know, Rutina (Wesley, who plays Tara). And she’s just reunited with her Maker; she wasn’t sure if he was alive. And then, on top of it, the humans are fighting back.”

So is Pam more evil or good? Here’s what Kristin thinks:

“I don’t know if it is a bad sign, or if I’m becoming sort of delusional, but I don’t know if she’s good or evil — but she’s definitely… correct.”

Sounds like the you-know-what is going to hit the fan. To read the rest of the interview with Kristin, click on the link below. And Remember Truebies, season 6 premiers this Sunday June 16th!

Kristin Bauer Talks About Season 6 of True Blood

February 1, 2013

Kristin Bauer Talks to Eonline.com:

Kristin Bauer stars as Pam in HBO's True BloodRecently, Eonline.com, asked fans what they would like to hear about in relation to their favorite television shows. One lucky fan got the opportunity to ask what was in the pipelines for the character of Pam (Kristin Bauer) the vampire in Season 6 of HBO’s True Blood.

Apparently, it’s all a bit tricky this season. Kristin Bauer van Straten had this to say about Pam:

Things are a little complex, so we continue with the complexities in her relationships. Her relationship with Eric became strained during the season and they’re in a quite a jam.  And she has this new progeny [Tara] and they’re both gay. I don’t know where that’s going to go, but Rutina [Wesley] and I are extremely curious! I don’t know what they’re going to do with it.

What do you hope happens with Pam in Season 6? What about your other faves on the show? Let us know in the comments below.

Kristin Bauer van Straten And Joe Manangiello Discuss The True Blood Season 5 Finale

August 21, 2012

The Actors Sat Down at San Diego ComicCon to Discuss HBO’s Vampire Drama:

truebloodpam_hollywood_reporterJust before the ComicCon panel for HBO’s True Blood, Joe Manangiello and Kristin Bauer van Straten sat down together to discuss their characters in the series’ Season 5. Mr. Manangiello plays hunky werewolf Alcide Herveaux and Ms. Bauer van Straten portrays snarky vampire Pamela de Beaufort.

Both actors look forward to and enjoy the fan interaction of their ComicCon appearances. They agreed that the True Blood panel was as close to being a Beatle as either of them will ever get. Ratings numbers and internet chatter does not provide the same pleasure as seeing the enthusiastic faces of fans.

Mr. Manangiello readily revealed that Alcide will be having a great deal of sex during Season 5.

“I really feel like I’m having the full True Blood experience. I get to have sex with a bunch of people. I get around sexually, I kill people. It’s pretty rad.”

Both actors agreed that True Blood is very much about relationships in Season 5, both the sexual and the emotional. Ms. Bauer Van Straten, however, is disappointed that her character has yet to kill anyone on screen. She says she watches Alex (Skarsgård) ripping bodies apart and wishes she got to do that.

Ms. Bauer van Straten’s character Pam, has become a maker in Season 5, having turned Tara (Rutina Wesley) in order to save her life. At the same time, Pam has been released by her own maker, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård).

“Everything really is at stake for Pam. It expanded this year for me. Pam became totally 3D.”

Kristin and Joe Discuss Sex with Werewolves and the True Blood Season 5 Finale

Mr. Manangiello revealed that there is a rougher version of Alcide’s drunken make-out session with Sookie (Anna Paquin) than the one that finally aired. That footage, however, is on the cutting room floor. He also told about conversations he had with showrunner Alan Ball, before the filming of Season 5 regarding what sex with a werewolf would be like.

“We both agreed that the girl wakes up in the morning and does that ‘Oh’ thing, and then does the cowgirl walk the whole day.”

Ms. Bauer van Straten confessed to being a geek herself over the television show Battlestar Galactica. At a previous ComicCon she met Tricia Helfer (Cylon Number Six), who had never seen True Blood and didn’t realize Ms. Bauer van Straten was also an actress.

“So I have this really awkward photo with Tricia Helfer somewhere.”

When asked about the True Blood Season 5 finale, neither actor could say much without spoilers. Ms. Bauer van Straten was happy with what Pam got to do during her scenes. Mr. Manganiello was thrilled to have Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) playing his father and said his scenes are sufficiently bloody.

This video is a very entertaining watch. The actors interact with friendship and humor that can’t be described and do it justice.

True Blood’s Rutina Wesley Dishes on Life as a Vampire

July 4, 2012

Rutina’s Take On Tara Thornton as a Vampire:

TaraThe end of episode one of this season’s True Blood definitely left almost every viewer shocked beyond words. The cast and crew of the show did an excellent job keeping viewers in the dark about what Tara’s fate would be, I was certain there was no way that Pam would be unable to save her. Now that her fate has been revealed, Rutina Wesley can finally sit down and talk all about what’s in store for her character and the adjustments she’s had to make. In an interview with TVLine, Wesley opens up about what it’s been like being a vamp so far.

In my opinion, the most interesting part of playing a vampire would be the fangs!! They’re fun and fierce and I never get tired of seeing anyone pop them out. Wesley was super excited to earn her fangs and practice using them:

“I took a bunch of goofy pictures in my trailer. I was looking at myself and like, “Oh my God!” It was very weird getting used to seeing my face with fangs popping out. The thing that’s hard is talking with them. We have this thing that if you can say Sookie Stackhouse then you’re good.”

Now that Tara is a vampire, not only will her lifestyle change, but her relationships as well. She seems to be on the outs at the moment with her human friends. All with the exception of Sam, which was surprising to say the least, as he was never a huge fan of vampires. With Pam as her Maker, I’m sure we will see a ton of great interaction between these two strong characters. Wesley had this to say about the two of them:

“Their relationship is going to be fun because they both say what they want. They’re both like, “Whatever.” It’s going to be interesting to see how that relationship grows — if it does grow.”

After months and months of speculation I’m glad that we have finally settled the issue of Tara’s fate. Now it just gets more interesting from here on out. What are some of your thoughts on Tara’s new life as a baby vamp? Let us know in the comments section!

Video: True Blood Cast Dishes Spoilers at Season 5 Premiere

June 7, 2012

New Couples, Old Adversaries, a Long Awaited Backstory:

Alexander Skarsgård, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer at True Blood Season 5 PremiereWhen the cast of HBO’s True Blood turned out for the Season 5 premiere, they were interviewed on the red carpet. Everyone was happy to share information and insights into their characters and the events of the show itself.

*Warning: Mild spoilers ahead!

Alan Ball said that Season 5 is the season of church and state. It’s the season of politics and religion from the vampire perspective. When asked about Scott Foley’s character, Patrick, Mr. Ball explained that he made a bad decision in the heat of battle and it has far reaching consequences. Finally, Mr. Ball alluded to the introduction of some new romantic couples. He couldn’t elaborate because it would give too many story details away.

Jacob Hopkins (Alexander) described his character as feisty and strong minded. He says Alexander grew more obnoxious with each episode.

Denis O’Hare (Russell Edgington) said that vampire politics are the focus of Season 5. Mr. O’Hare explained that when people are brought back to life, they have to lose something. With Russell’s resurrection, he has lost his vicious ambition. In its place are a playfulness, ease, and humor. But make no mistake, Russell is still really dangerous. He still kills a lot of people, and kills them with glee. When asked, Mr. O’Hare said it took Russell about 4-5 episodes to heal. Most intriguingly of all, Russell unexpectedly falls in love again.

“Something happens from across the room. Something happens while sharing a body. Someone you know. You’ll be very surprised  by it.”

Lucy Griffiths (Nora) explained that Nora and her ‘brother’ Eric love each other very much but haven’t seen one another in a long time. Their relationship can be very fraternal, in that they can be very aggressive toward each other. They make a great team when they work together but otherwise they just mess each other up.

Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) talked of the close relationship that developed between his character and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård).

“We’re good friends and it’s been a lot of fun. And we sort of love each other.”

Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam) shared that Nora’s appearance caused a little bit of trouble for Pam. Ms. Bauer van Straten explained that she and Alex have been asking for Pam’s backstory for years and were thrilled to finally see it played out. She says the story explains the Pam we know.

Kelly Overton plays a new werewolf character named Rikki. She describes her character as a strong, resourceful werewolf, the opposite of the damsel in distress. She’s determined to find out what happened to the Pack Master and is not loving Alcide at the moment.

Rutina Wesley said that, despite people’s doubts, Tara is coming back.

Michael McMillian (Steve Newlin) said that becoming a vampire might be the best thing that’s ever happened to Steve. At first, he wondered if Steve would be self-loathing but the reality is, he’s very attracted to power. Jason is the guy Steve always wanted to be and he’s coming after Jason. But, Jason has a new vampire friend in Jessica.

“If you mess with Jason, you mess with Jessica.”

Apparently, the first four episodes are a Pam tour de force, and the origin story between Pam and Eric is fantastic. Fans don’t have long to wait now. Season 5 of True Blood premieres on HBO June 10th.

Check out the video below, if you’d prefer to skip to the good stuff (strictly True Blood related), it starts right before the 3-minute mark. Enjoy!
