Video: True Blood Season 5 Teasers from the Stars Themselves!

June 10, 2012

Red Carpet Premiere of True Blood:

So who needs teasers to drool over and ponder the implications of while they wait (im)patiently for Season 5 of HBO’s True Blood to start at 9 pm tonight?

I know I certainly do! The Associated Press (AP) video leaves us plenty of tasty little morsels to devour and dissect.

Firstly, Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) alludes to the fact that we get to see and learn a lot more about the fairy realm in this season of True Blood. Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman) and Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) talk about the development of the Eric/Bill bromance and how it is an uneasy but necessary alliance.

As for poor Sam Merlotte, actor Sam Trammell, suggests that this season will be even harder on him than the last one. Joe Manganiello (who plays Alcide Herveaux) also talks about the hot new werewolves being introduced to his pack this year.

Make sure you check out the video here (scroll down to bottom of page) for the complete interviews as well as some upcoming scenes from Season 5 of True Blood!

Video: True Blood Cast Dishes Spoilers at Season 5 Premiere

June 7, 2012

New Couples, Old Adversaries, a Long Awaited Backstory:

Alexander Skarsgård, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer at True Blood Season 5 PremiereWhen the cast of HBO’s True Blood turned out for the Season 5 premiere, they were interviewed on the red carpet. Everyone was happy to share information and insights into their characters and the events of the show itself.

*Warning: Mild spoilers ahead!

Alan Ball said that Season 5 is the season of church and state. It’s the season of politics and religion from the vampire perspective. When asked about Scott Foley’s character, Patrick, Mr. Ball explained that he made a bad decision in the heat of battle and it has far reaching consequences. Finally, Mr. Ball alluded to the introduction of some new romantic couples. He couldn’t elaborate because it would give too many story details away.

Jacob Hopkins (Alexander) described his character as feisty and strong minded. He says Alexander grew more obnoxious with each episode.

Denis O’Hare (Russell Edgington) said that vampire politics are the focus of Season 5. Mr. O’Hare explained that when people are brought back to life, they have to lose something. With Russell’s resurrection, he has lost his vicious ambition. In its place are a playfulness, ease, and humor. But make no mistake, Russell is still really dangerous. He still kills a lot of people, and kills them with glee. When asked, Mr. O’Hare said it took Russell about 4-5 episodes to heal. Most intriguingly of all, Russell unexpectedly falls in love again.

“Something happens from across the room. Something happens while sharing a body. Someone you know. You’ll be very surprised  by it.”

Lucy Griffiths (Nora) explained that Nora and her ‘brother’ Eric love each other very much but haven’t seen one another in a long time. Their relationship can be very fraternal, in that they can be very aggressive toward each other. They make a great team when they work together but otherwise they just mess each other up.

Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) talked of the close relationship that developed between his character and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård).

“We’re good friends and it’s been a lot of fun. And we sort of love each other.”

Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam) shared that Nora’s appearance caused a little bit of trouble for Pam. Ms. Bauer van Straten explained that she and Alex have been asking for Pam’s backstory for years and were thrilled to finally see it played out. She says the story explains the Pam we know.

Kelly Overton plays a new werewolf character named Rikki. She describes her character as a strong, resourceful werewolf, the opposite of the damsel in distress. She’s determined to find out what happened to the Pack Master and is not loving Alcide at the moment.

Rutina Wesley said that, despite people’s doubts, Tara is coming back.

Michael McMillian (Steve Newlin) said that becoming a vampire might be the best thing that’s ever happened to Steve. At first, he wondered if Steve would be self-loathing but the reality is, he’s very attracted to power. Jason is the guy Steve always wanted to be and he’s coming after Jason. But, Jason has a new vampire friend in Jessica.

“If you mess with Jason, you mess with Jessica.”

Apparently, the first four episodes are a Pam tour de force, and the origin story between Pam and Eric is fantastic. Fans don’t have long to wait now. Season 5 of True Blood premieres on HBO June 10th.

Check out the video below, if you’d prefer to skip to the good stuff (strictly True Blood related), it starts right before the 3-minute mark. Enjoy!

Spoiler: Christopher Meloni on True Blood Season 5 Cast!

December 14, 2011

Gorgeous Star of OZ and Law and Order: SVU Joining S5!

Christopher MeloniBetter news could not have rocked my Wednesday morning/week/month.  I’m overjoyed, like a gay kid on Christmas who just received his first Judy Garland album, to hear that Christopher Meloni, the hunk from OZ and SVU, will be joining the True Blood cast as a regular in in Season 5.  I’ve loved Christopher Meloni, as apparently many queers have, since his frequent nudity and depiction of man-on-man love aired in HBO’s series OZ.  In the 90s, you’ll remember, “the world was a lot different… There was no Glee, men didn’t kiss on camera, but Chris Meloni did.”  He also played a doofy, but always sexy in cutoff jean shorts, camp chef in Wet Hot American Summer (alongside Paul Rudd and Janeane Garofalo.)

Alan Ball revealed that Meloni’s character will be “an ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands.”  Awesome! I can’t wait to see the strapping Meloni exude his impressive sexiness all over the screen.  I’ve missed him in the cast of SVU since he left.  The show is seriously lacking since the oft quick-tempered, Elliott Stabler’s upper-hand is missing, but I couldn’t be happier that he’s joining the cast of True Blood.  The thought of his empirical comfortability with nudity for HBO is sending me into wild True Blood fantasies involving Bill and Eric… Fans can also wait, with bated breath I’m sure, for the new Superman movie to be released in 2013 that will feature Meloni.

Below is a tamed, YouTube version of some of Meloni’s gay scenes from OZ. Racier ones can be found elsewhere.  😉

Truebies, let’s hear about how excited this news makes you in the comments section!

Spoiler – Casting Call for Season 5 of True Blood

October 29, 2011

Alan Ball Needs Two Female Actors:

Alexander Skarsgård as EricSo you love True Blood? And you think you can act? Well, HBO and Alan Ball are on the hunt for two new strong female vampire roles. Nudity is a possibility – but would we expect anything less of True Blood?

The first role calls for a female between the ages of 25 and 35. The character’s name is Nora and she is a progeny of Godric’s, so there should be a few juicy scenes alongside the awesome Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård).

The second role is something to really sink your teeth into (pun intended). If you are a fan of the Bible, then her name will be familiar. She is the daughter of Herodias from the New Testament. Yes, her name is Salome! In Season 5, Salome will be a powerful and very ancient vampire – something that was kept out of the Bible, for obvious reasons. She is also just a little bit crazy.

So, if you think you’ve got what it takes, then now is the time to audition for your part on True Blood. (Unfortunately, we can’t help you with that!)

True Blood Season 5 Spoilers From Co-EP Raelle Tucker

September 14, 2011

Co-Executive Producer/Writer Spills the Scoop on Season 5:

True Blood vampires by HBOWe have more news on what to expect in Season 5 of HBO’s True Blood, straight from co-executive producer and writer, Raelle Tucker. Remember when Stephen Moyer said there would be “an omnipresent power” next season in this article?

Raelle Tucker backs this up by saying:

“There will be a very significant, strong, mysterious woman at the center of one of our main stories next year. That will be a very familiar and compelling character. It may be someone you’ve heard of before.”

The show will delve pretty deep into the world of fairies, giving us all (including Sookie) a better understanding of the fascinating creatures.  Speaking of Sookie and Supes, as we saw in the finale, she has seemingly sworn them off — at least romantically.  But can one ever really be rid of Supes in Bon Temps?  Highly doubtful.  So what does this mean for Bill and Eric?  What the heck will they be doing, if not fighting over Sookie?  According to Tucker, seeing as how they offed Nan Flanagan,

“The consequences of their actions in the finale are going to chase them for a while next year.”

What about creepy Rene, Terry, and Arlene?  Well, it seems Rene was right!  Terry is going to be nothing but trouble next season, thanks to his old buddy Patrick.  Fitting that Terry’s past would come back to haunt him on All Hallow’s Eve, don’t you think?  But poor Terry isn’t the only character whose past is coming back to haunt him — we now know that Steve Newlin is back (as a vampire, who saw that one coming?!), and so is the King of Mississippi!  Uh oh.  I smell trouble.  That little fella is NOT going to be happy.  Three cheers for Russell Edgington and his crazy antics!

What do you think, Truebies?  Is Season 5 already shaping up to be a good one?
