Disney has recently announced it would be producing a new animated movie based loosely on William Shakespeare’s A Mid Summer Night’s Dream. The movie is called Strange Magic and True Blood’s Evan Rachel Wood has been cast as one of the voice actors. Truebies will remember Evan in the role of Sophie-Anne LeClerq, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana. She appeared in Seasons 2 through to 4 of HBO’s vampire series. As yet there is no news on the role Evan will be playing, but here is the cast list for Strange Magic as announced so far:

- Evan Rachel Wood
- Alan Cumming, Maya Rudolph
- Sam Palladio
- Alfred Molina
- Elijah Kelley
- Bob Einstein
- Peter Stormare

And here’s the synopsis:
“Strange Magic” is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion.
Gary Rydstrom will direct Strange Magic. The screen play is written by David Berenbaum, Irene Mecchi and Gary Rydstrom from an idea originally penned by George Lucas (of Star Wars fame). Marius de Vries is listed as musical director and composer and it has been revealed that Strange Love will feature modern day pop songs.
Evan Rachel Wood is not the first True Blood star to lend her voice to a Disney production. Anna Camp recently took on the role of Princess Ivy in the Disney Junior movie entitled Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy.
