True Blood Wins IAB MIXX Award

True Blood is an awesome show with a brilliant ad campaign behind it. Prior to the airing of the second season of the show, an ad campaign was launched called “Hacking Reality.” The campaign featured lots of real life companies and brands joining up with HBO to create ads that seemed real for vampire-safe items.

However, that’s not all there was to the campaign. There was also an “Inside-Edition type” show that aired weekly and covered all things that are related to vampires as well as viral videos from the American Vampire League (AVL) and the Fellowship of the Sun. There were even websites that were for vampires, including Bloodcopy (which was recreated for Season 3 by HBO).

The campaign could be found everywhere, including at Comic-Con International 2009, where oversized wall posters showed a special vampire-friendly Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a Geico ad for insurance for vampires, and many more.

The campaign obviously worked, as the season premiere for the second season of True Blood was the most viewed show on HBO On Demand, and there was an average of 12.6 million gross viewers for each episode of the season. Congratulations to HBO and True Blood for creating such a wonderful and completely unforgettable ad campaign!

True Blood is Popping Up All Over

It’s countdown time and HBO has started placing ads for the start of Season 3 of Allan Ball‘s hit series, True Blood. The much anticipated new season begins June 13th.

Advertisement sitings have been reported on New York benches and bus stops.  A giant billboard on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood is going up.  These are photos of what to look for.

True Blood Season 3 Viral Ad Poster

HBO is starting up the True Blood viral ad campaign just as they did to the lead up to Season 2 last year.  This year with Season 3 of True Blood set to premiere on Sunday, June 13, 2010, HBO is starting to unleash their new ads to get the buzz started and to get the fans worked up into a frenzy.

USA TODAY‘s Gary Levin presents our first look at one of ads that will be part of True Blood‘s 12-week viral ad campaign leading up to the show’s premiere.  According to Mr. Levin each week a new ad will be released.

By the looks of this one HBO has another successful ad campaign on its hands.

True Blood Season 2: HBO Escape the Everyday Sweepstakes

HBO is running the “Escape the Everyday” sweepstakes to promote the return of season 2 of True Blood with a Grand Prize of $10,000 towards HBO, TV service, Internet, phone and so much more courtesy of HBO.  There are also instant win prizes consisting of the True Blood Season 1 DVD, Fangtasia t-shirt, Fellowship of the Sun t-shirt, American Vampire League t-shirt, and True Blood Logo Mug.  The sweepstakes begins May 23, 2009 and ends on July 3, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. ET, so each day you have to login onto the site to increase your odds of winning.

How to Enter: During the Promotion Period, go to www.escapetheeverydaysweeps.com and complete and submit the registration form including a valid home address. P.O. Boxes are not permitted. Once you submit the registration, follow the links and instructions to select one (1) of the three (3) scenes. Then, you can enter the Sweepstakes and Instant Win Game as outlined below:

I. Sweepstakes: Interact with the scene by clicking on objects to locate and collect items (each an “Item”). One (1) Item per scene will be made available for collection each week during the Promotion Period. You will automatically receive three (3) Sweepstakes entries for each Item you collect. You can also obtain up to six (6) additional Sweepstakes entries per day by entering codes (each a “Code”). To obtain Codes, click “Enter Code” and you will proceed to a website where you will find six (6) videos. After you watch each video, you will receive a Code. True Blood Season 2: New Ad Campaign for Vampires

True Blood Season 2 is working up to be a great one as we can see in the new ad promotions that the cable network HBO has developed in partnership with various marketers. The Agency Digital Kitchen has created some wonderful fake ads geared towards vampires to entice them to but certain products such as Ecko Unlimited, Geico, Gillette, Harley-Davidson, MINI and Monster.com.  The ads have the real brand name trademarks but contain made-up vampire themed slogans.  Enjoy these creative ads below.  Click image to enlarge.
