Sharing on the Close Connection to Her Adopted Friend

Tanya Wright and MacarenaTrue Blood star Tanya Wright (Deputy Kenya Jones) like many, has a four legged friend. Her dog, Macarena, has helped her cope and heal during some difficult times in her life. Recently Tanya shared Macarena’s story with peoplepets.com and the immeasurable change she’s made in her life.

Six years ago while hiking in Runyon Canyon Tanya noticed an ad for fostering and adopting black Labs. Coping with the recent loss of her brother, Barron, Tanya didn’t hesitate to call and offer to foster a puppy. The fostering of Macarena quickly turned into adoption as the connection between the two grew.

“She’s been a great source of joy in a way that humans are sometimes not, she teaches me how to keep it light and get out of my head.”

Tanya’s upcoming project, a book and film entitled Butterfly Rising was partially inspired by her relationship with Macarena, who makes a cameo in the movie.

“At that time in my life, I was going through change. I was contemplating my life and what I wanted to do with it. I think the dog was such a vital part of my healing process that it seemed strange not to include her in this story that I was writing.”

Butterfly Rising, the book is available on Amazon. For more information about the movie, visit www.butterflyrisingthemovie.com.
