If you’re a fan of werewolves, then you should be howling over the newest were to hit the True Blood scene: Alcide Herveaux. Joe Manganiello plays bodyguard were in the third season of HBO’s hit series. However, before he was howling at the moon for a living, the 33 year old actor was a roadie for the band Goldfinger, which allowed him to travel all over. Though his home is now in Los Angeles, this traveler has his eyes set on Europe, which he has never visited before.

Joe‘s favorite destination is Australia; he fell in love with the metropolitan cities set against the backdrop of beautiful beaches. There’s no language barrier and no one is honking their horns; the music is relaxed and the cuisine is superb. For Joe, it has the best of all worlds.

For weekend getaways, Joe is quick to cite Las Vegas as a favorite. While he was there recently, he took in the HBO boxing events as well as seeing Cirque de Soleil. To top that off, he ate at some amazing restaurants. What tops Las Vegas? Joe notes,

“San Diego is a town I really love. If I didn’t need to live in LA right now for work, I could definitely see myself living there. Julian (Calif.) is a charming and historically preserved gold-mining town up in the mountains about an hour outside of San Diego that I love. There is a line of pie shops there that all serve fresh-baked hot apple pie. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon. Make sure you stop to check out the views.”

As an avid traveler, Joe has some great tips when it comes to picking a hotel and restaurant. He cites the London NYC hotel as impressive as well a the Four Season in Las Vegas. He also mentions,

“The Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas ( was also extremely impressive, especially their restaurant Twist. Dinner was like being a judge on “Iron Chef.” It was amazing! Also I wholeheartedly recommend La Concha Resort ( in Puerto Rico. Gorgeous! My favorite restaurants are generally old-school steakhouses like The Palm Restaurant (, Mastro’s ( and Delmonico’s (”

Though his favorite cities are San Juan, Puerto Rico; Sydney, Australia; Melbourne, Australia; Charleston, SC, and New York City, Joe would love to visit Egypt and Bora Bora. He also wants to explore all of Europe. Wherever he travels he looks into the art scene, whether it’s plays, music shows, museums, exhibits, etc.

With all his travels, It seems like Joe‘s next acting gig might be hosting a traveling guide, where he travels to different parts of the world every episode. No doubt his fans are going to be struck with the travel bug too and who knows, maybe they’ll get a glimpse of this traveling were!
