True Blood Cast Naked on the Cover of Rolling Stone Magazine

The September 2, 2010 issue of Rolling Stone featuring the stars of True Blood becomes available Wednesday, August 18, 2010 on newsstands, and Friday, August 20, 2010 online via Rolling Stone’s premium subscription plan.

Rolling Stone interviews Alan Ball and the True Blood cast to get their take on the aspect of vampire sex and how sex is represented on the show. As Alan Ball states in the magazine he feels that vampires represent sex and on his show they explore that aspect as well of many other forms of sex whether it is straight, gay, and humans with supernaturals. To Alan the notion of “celibate vampires is ridiculous”, and contradicts their appeal.

As Stephen Moyer, who plays the handsome vampire Bill Compton, states the whole metaphor surrounding vampires is very sexual. He describes the very natural of penetrating unbroken skin and the drawing of blood similar to the lost of virginity.

“If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn’t one before. It’s a de-virginization — breaking the hymen, creating blood and then drinking the virginal blood. And there’s something sharp, the fang, which is probing and penetrating and moving into it. So that’s pretty sexy. I think that makes vampires attractive.”

It is no wonder that True Blood is a smashing hit.

    I wanted to say that I know some people will be shocked and perhaps even find this offensive. I can understand that. If you have young children or you’re an adult Conservative. I can respect someone’s choice not to view something like this.
    However,This Is Rolling Stone Magazine..This Is what they do.
    This magazine touted covers that were shocking to some even 35 years ago! The late 60s early 70s were a turbulent period.
    Lots of stuff going on..protests against Vietnam,hippies with their “make love Not War” Protesters shouting how they did Not want that effing war, love-ins,Woodstock…riots??
    For some of these older folks,If you could have lived through All of that…And from what I was told, I was little in those days, there was a Lot of permissiveness regarding “sexual freedom” and nudity~~For crying out loud people were Streaking in the streets…
    My Point Is…If You could have lived through All of That…Why would you be flustered at a cover like this? Were’nt things worse then??

    I would say to These folks who would take offense to this latest cover of RS..With Everything thats going on in the world today…
    Famine,Oppression Our young Men & Women giving All to safeguard Our freedoms in War torn Middle East Not to mention an economic depression akin to that of the Early 1930s With ALL of This going on THIS magazine cover is What Some choose to focus on!!
    Excuse Me,But There are Much More important things to worry about in the world today than 3 very nice looking people posing nude for a magazine cover!!
    I was a bit shocked and grossed out somewhat when i first saw this,too! But I am a huge fan of the show and These people do a great job playing their roles on Tv! It sure looks like they are enjoying this new found popularity among the media And the viewers…I’m glad for them.
    Stephen Moyer is an Incredibly gifted actor! I’m Always moved by his performance as Vampire Bill! Alex Skarsgaard is good,Too!
    His Eric is chilling and yet passionate. Anna Paquin is cute and plays Sookie well! She is Lovely in Many of the recent photos! There is Also a 2nd photo 1 that is Not nude. That photo is Beautiful! It shows a deep love and respect they have for 1 another. I do not blame you ladies both of these men are handsome and kind. Anna is simply lovely and cute.
    What if the cover were Joe Maganiello and Brit Morgan nude and covered in dirt?? would some people Still be upset??
    Probably? What if it were James Frain and Rutina Westly nude and holding each other??
    OK I’d better stop now Too Many sexy images!! LOL
    I know that a magazine cover like this is bound to ruffle some feathers But These 3 and their work on the show have been an inspiration to Me! Alan Ball is a brilliant man The writing on the show is always crisp and provocative! This program has conveyed a message that its Ok to be flawed and human…Which is What we are!!
    Anyway
    I wish our TB crew All the Best! Congrats Stephen Anna Alex

    Go Team TB kick Twilight’s butt!! Havent they Been doing that all along?? LOL :)

    Stunning photo!!! Absolutely stunning!
    It is a shame that so many are unwilling to give credit to all these actors for their beauty and boldness.

    So much body language there!
    Stephen has his gorgeous signiture smoldering look on as well as a strong “grasp” of the situation.

    And yes we see Annas been working out as well, she is so very slim, esp. in the thigh area. Maybe gracious isnt so plenty afterall …..LOL!!!!!
    Just teasing, just teasing!

      The photo cover is Really Something,Huh? Our TB cast looks Great! The triangle is heating up for sure! Sookie may not want Eric..But He Sure as heck wants her!! I think that there Is Some sexual tension between them especially Now that Eric has had sex dreams about her! What I find interesting about All of this Is that Eric’s “bond” with Sookie has affected Him!
      Usually, She would be the 1 affected More by this blood “bond”!
      Was it this or the Operation Werewolf organization and his need to avenge his family which triggered him and brought him to where he is….Maybe a bit of both??

      I’m glad that we are back to Bill-Sookie-Eric again. I like Alcide and I’m glad we will see more of him next year..I’m happy for Joe. Its better for now to just have a triangle and NOT a rectangle!! LOL

        I personally think this cover is brilliant! If it was the idea of these three I can only believe that Alan Ball is LHAO at it and enjoying every second of the hype.
        And as far as the talk about it goes, you know what they say in the entertainment biz, any talk is good talk!
        I bought 2 mags this morning before work and have to get a few more to give to people.
        Our Trio and RS were very smart to do this. This will be a hot seller!

      Hi Nia,

      Yes, Anna is very slim, especially around the waist and I like it that she has a bum. Funny, she is slightish, but when filmed with other female cast members, she is larger! They must be very tiny!

      I also love the positioning. She is very much into Stephen and only has her leg up to cover Alex. She has her left arm firmly gripping Stephen. Lots of boy language there! Alex does look like he is on his own other than holding Anna’s leg.
      HHMMM. Foreshadowing?

        Lizzie, I can now honestly say that yes, all the women in the cast of True Blood so far are VERY slender! Going on my memories of seeing Anna, Rutina, and Deborah up close at Comic-Con 2008 and meeting Kristin at the Patterns for Paws event, all are slender enough to be wearing small-sized t-shirts. :)

        And i know what you mean by the body language on the cover. It appears to me that Anna’s only lightly holding onto Alex’s waist while he has a firmer grip on her leg. Stephen is pressed up against Anna, and her body is relaxed against his. To me, it doesn’t show a love triangle. Instead, it reminds me of the latter part of the animated movie Aladdin. In a moment close to the end, Jasmine and Aladdin want each other because of love and Jafar wants Jasmine in order to gain power… LOL ;)

          Thanks Isis. I suppose you have to be slim to be on tele, but have noticed that Anna has a much fuller slimmer figure than her costars. Good on her!

          I just watched E:News and they had this thing about TB going over the top with that photo shoot and they talked about TB in general. They showed the shower scene and said they could not show all of it because it was too risque! They showed the top of them kissing and the bottom part but guess Bill caressing Sookie’s breast was a bit too much for them! (I thought it lovely and wished I was Sookie/Anna!) They then tlaked about all the blood, gore and sex and said it should go back to S1 where the show was more humourous and that is what drew viewers. They also did the Alex prefers no c*cksock, Stephen’s wearing one so as not to embarass the crew and Anna’s Rock the snatch. Also interviewed Alex about nudity (from Red Carpet) and Anna saying it was TB re nudity.

          Now, the best! They showed the pics that are in RS and then interviewed the photographer, who said he wanted something “more” for the front cover and he said that Stephen, Anna and Alex went out back, got naked and put on the blood splatter and came back for the shoot! It was their idea!

            OMG Lizzie that is fantastic! Now I am wondering since it was a spontaneous thing for them to go back and get naked and put blood splatter for the shoot did they wear the sock of destiny or the snatch patch? OK now looking at the photo are they wearing anything and if not OH MY!!!!! Be Still My Heart! Anna is one lucky girl! Now I want to see the photos that didn’t make the cover! ;)

            Adore Bill, I just re-watched and the guy from RS said that the photographer did all the nice portrait shots then said “now can we go a bit further, like freaky,for the cover shoot’ and the 3 of them went out back, got naked and put blood on each other and came out and did the shoot! The pose is similar to the EW one, so I think they had total control on what they did and my guess is, you don’t carry around a c*cksock or snatchpatch, so it was spontaneous and yes, NAKED! Even more reason to adore this shoot, eh?

            Also, they said that morning news services did not pick this news item up because of the explicit nudity and E:News kept on focusing in on how Stephen was “groping” Anna’s boob, her hand on Stephen and her leg being held by Alex! They said it may be over the top even for TB! lol! Don’t they now that the fans want more!!!!

    Absolutely the best Rolling Stone Cover in a very long time.

    Loved how Alex/Eric gracious plenty hidden by Anna/Sookie’s thigh. Any thoughts on that ladies? OK Jaxx, mind out of the gutter girl! Interesting how Sookie’s head is leaning toward Bill but her body is all Eric’s.

    Congratulations True Blood you have now hit another whole level of stardom.

    BTW, what love triangle? Perhaps some foreshadowing? :)

      Sorry, I disagree PBT. If you look at the positioning of all their bodies, you can see the disconnect between Eric and both Bill and Sookie. The positioning of the bodies shows far more interest on Eric’s side than Sookie’s. It also shows Bill and Sookie connected. After all, you can’t even see Bill’s chest. His body and Sookie’s are too tightly molded to each other.

      Of course, it didn’t help at all that everyone’s eyes were aimed away from the camera. It made the disconnect even more apparent for me.

      pbt I like you love this picture!! It’s very interesting how Sookie/Anna has her hand planted around Eric/Alex’s waist. Makes you want to speculate huh! With her back arched away from Bill/Stephen’s make you wonder if Sookie is somewhat leaning toward Eric and Bill refusing(by all rights) to give her up.
      Alan did say that there will be a major breach of trust! Here starts our silent speculations!! (gracious pleanty huh) HEHEHEHE! Oh how sweet it is to imagine.. now for a cold shower!! LOL!!

    This is just SO Cool!! Now when is the cover with Sookie,Alcide and Debbie coming out!! LOL This cover of Bill,Sookie annd Eric is Just SO Hot!! This is definitely the Hottest,Most Intense season of TB,Yet!! Glad the cast is getting more time in the media! This love triangle is So Much More intense than the “kids” of Twilight!!
    It would have been nice if they had about 3 covers 1 like that..1 with Joe and Anna(You Know you Want to See That 1!) LOL
    and maybe 1 with Sam and Rutina? Too Much?? LOL

    This is RS and they are notorious for shooting covers like this.
    I think that this cover is just SO HOT! It’s Very Sexy!!
    Maybe the fake blood is a bit much, But This is 1 Cool/Hot photo!
    Is it “shopped” Who knows? I like them and the photo. Plus, TB is the Hottest Show on Tv Now!! Naturely,Since fans are Already “rabid” over the show and the principle characters..This just adds More fuel to the fire…Cool!! I think this is Something Else as they used to say in the 70s! LOL
    I’m glad for our TB crew! It’s Great that they are now on lots of magazines and stuff! This summer, Anna,Stephen & Alex have been on Lots of mags US,TvGuide,EW More than once!!
    They are 1 Hot group,huh? I wish Them All the Best!
    I hope that they can have fun with all of this!

    WOW! This cover is too hot for words ! I love it! Look how Eric has Sookie’s leg wrapped around his body wish it was me and I think its awesome that Anna posed with both of them like that. Lucky Anna, Its cool to hear that they are all good friends on the show. I want this as a poster on my wall.YIKES and YUM!

    Wow is right. I was a little shocked when I was this(I know it’s RollingStone but still). That had to have been a little awkward. It looks like an uncomfortable pose. They had to stand just right to cover everything. Lol jaxx ,I know it is good they are good friends!
