for me… the truth, I care very little that Alan Ball done with the plot of the series except for the relationship of sookie and eric, the relationship to them, Alan Ball had to maintain the same as in the books, because The first in the season saw major changes with respect to sookie and eric, the fact that eric does not kill longshadows was one, and I since that saw this, I knew that everything would change, and now I’ve seen this video and many others, I noticed that the wonderful scenes that have eric and sookie in the book 2, including his first kiss, are not included in this season and I am a very disappointed …

  • I am happy with the way things are being portrayed Eric is Cocky but Sookie’s spunk is what catches his attention.Eric’s character is used to the power, used to being feared for his status.I personally do not see where he is being “evil” he is just being Eric.Alan’s vision has built a season on three hundred and something pages taking and building upon each of the characters personality traits no easy task .Bill is not raping Sookie do not see where that assumption came from. I think the promos are hot!!!
and we should all lay back and enjoy the ride this season is gearing up to be A HOT one !!!!!

      Absolutely Andrea!!!!!!

  • Rachel

That’s not Bill raping Sookie. I’d bet solid money that is after Sookie is scratched (promo tease from Paleyfest) and is brought to Fangtasia for help. That’s the beauty of editing people.

    • Nia

Rachel, it was assumed by a comment made earlier that in the Promo, Bill is raping Sookie, not the teaser, when she is attacked by the maenad or whatever Alan Ball chooses to call it.

  • Hi everyone,

Just remember that True Blood is Alan Ball’s creation based on the adaptation of Charlaine Harris’s books, not a recreation of her books. The show has all the elements that make it a fantastic show and it is best to separate the books from the TV show to truly appreciate and enjoy the show. So don’t fuss about how Eric is or Bill is in the books vs the tv show and just focus on enjoying how Alan Ball will play out all these fascinating themes with the many twists and turns he can incorporate into it. It is going to be an amazing season 2 that will definitely have us sitting on the edge of our seats. Also the comment of Bill raping Sookie that does not occur in book 2.

I really think people forget that often. Alan Ball is a genious and I think it would be a huge waste of his talent, if the show was identical to the books. I love to be surprised and it would be very boring indeed if I knew exactly what would happen. I have enjoyed the show immensily and I loved the books as well but I do try very hard to see them as separate and not compare them constantly.

That said, I don’t think Eric fans need to be very worried. I think we will see the other side of Eric later on. He is more complex than just a badass. People also seen to forget that Eric wasn’t such a huge character in the first books. I have absolutely loved the way in which Eric has been portrayed so far! Eric is used to getting what he wants. Sookie isn’t very afraid of him, she isn’t lining up to sleep with him, she can not be controlled as other humans etc. This will be new for Eric.

      • Nia

AdoreBill, and Maaria, I agree with both of you. As I have said in the past, I do not believe that the show should be the same as the books. I also like to be surprised. Actually so far, I am preferring the show so much more than the books. I do feel the need to reply to those who are not happy with where the show is going because it does not mirror the books exactly, and to try to waylay their misgivings. Everyone should just enjoy this wonderful show and the works of Alan Ball. It is the best show on tv. Again, I cannot believe that someone makes the assumption that Bill is raping Sookie in the promo. That is so far from what is happening. And yes, Sookie is never raped in the books (although there was an attempt when she was being held in the FOTS, but not by Bill or Eric or any other love she had). Her character would never allow that, and it is a great injustice to assume that that is what is happening here. Lets stop deconstructing the show and just sit back and be entertained.

  • Nia

Eric is a mischevious player who for the past 1,000 years has gotten whomever he wants. Don’t you thinks its time that he comes across someone he wants who first has a boyfriend and second is not susceptable to his glamour or charm. I think its brilliant, first with Charlene H. and her books and then with “TB”. Lets give give Eric a few obstacles and see what happens. Remember, in the books Sookie only sleeps with Eric because he was not himself, he was a whole new personality (and of course he has a great bum). As for Bill raping Sookie in the promo? Come on, did she look like she was complaining? Bill can do that to me anytime.

  • crystal

the way eric’s potrayed in this is a cocky bastard who is stealing sookie from bill and then all the bill fans will be pissed at him.
in the book he was more of a flirty fun badass&cute guy who won her heart
    🙁

    • EricsLover

THANK U CRYSTAL THAT IS SOOO RIGHT!!!,WE SERIOUSLY DONT WANT ALAN TO MESS HIM UP,BUT I HAVENT HEARD ANYONE TALK ABOUT THE 1ST PROMO,WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE BILL IS RAPING HER,WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT WE SHOULD(NOT LIKE WE HAVE OTHER OPCION) WAIT AND SEE WHATS UP…

  • Maaria

That’s hilarious because I have been really excited about Sookie slapping Eric. I am always against violence in real life but you go girl! I don’t think Eric has been slapped around a lot during his life, so it will be a nice change.

That has always been the thing that has been attractive in Eric; he is devious and a bit wicked but also charming and funny. In the first books Sookie was mostly scared of him and after a while we got to see the Eric flair we know. Before that can happen, they have to build up the intimidating and powerful vamp and then we will get to see different sides to him. Or mabye AB will take his character to another direction, who knows! So far, I am more than happy about how he is being portrayed 😉

  • SELENE

bothers me greatly to see sookie slap eric … and bothers me much more that Alan Ball wants converted to eric in the villain of the series, when the whole world knows that Eric is the real protagonist of this story …

    • EricsLover

SELENE I TOTALLY AGREED WITH U,BUT LETS JUST WAIT AND SEE WHATS GONNA HAPPEN,IT COULD BE ALL THE WAY AROUND AND THEY ARE JUST PLAYING WITH OUR HEADS,U NEVER KNOW,BUT I HONESTLY WOULD BE VERY MAD IF ALAN TURNS ERIC ONTO THE VILLAIN….FINGER CROSS…..

  • EricsLover

WOW WOW WOW I CANT WAIT!!!!….BUT HEY DID SOOKIE SLAP ERIC?SHOOTTT NOT GOOD…..

  • Maaria

Crap, HBO sure knows how to build up the anticipation for the second season! That looked really good but I wasn’t that impressed by the choice of music. I loved the whole “if I want her, I can just take her” thingie. I guess Eric is used to getting what he wants. Sookie might be a bit more tricky.

  • you guys are KILLING me with these promos !!!! I am loving them but the WAITING for the new season ……
