June 16, 2009 by

true-blood_season-2-bill-and-sookieDebi Moore from was fortunate to be given the opportunity to watch the first 4 episodes from season two of Alan Ball’s successful HBO TV vampire series True Blood and presents for fans a glimpse to what we will see when True Blood returns on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 9PM/ET on HBO.

After watching the first four episodes entitled “Nothing But the Blood”, “Keep This Party Going”, “Scratch My Back”, and “Let’s Take a Trip Together,” Ms. Moore came to the conclusion that if you thought the scenes we hot in season 1 wait until you see season 2.

As Ms. Moore states Season 2 picks up right where season 1 ended and continues with the major players dealing with the issues that were established towards the end of season 1 and a murder investigation with Sheriff Bud Dearborne (William Sanderson) and Deputy Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) dealing not with a strangulation but with “the victim’s heart is ripped out. “

Bill (Stephen Moyer) teaching his new vamp progeny Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) the ropes, with some much needed help from Sookie (Anna Paquin) once she warms up to the idea of sharing her man with another; Tara (Rutina Wesley) adapting to her cushy new life with the enigmatic Maryann (Michelle Forbes) and bad boy housemate Eggs (Mehcad Brooks); Sam (Sam Trammell) continuing to battle his inner demons but finding a little respite by becoming chummy with new waitress Daphne (Ashley Jones); Jason (Ryan Kwanten) still trying to find himself but being drawn to the anti-vampire church Fellowship of the Sun and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) … well, let’s just leave a few things a mystery for the time being.”

In Season 2 True Blood introduces to the audience several new characters that will play key roles in the plot lines with several of the main characters.  Maryann who was introduced to us towards the end to the season continues to portray as Ms. Moore states “Earth Mother ways by taking in strays and hosting gatherings that more often than not turn into wild orgies of food and fondling.”  We find out in the first 4 episodes that she and Sam have some history and he becomes suspicious of her interest in Tara.

We also get to meet the Reverend Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) and his wife Sarah (Anna Camp), the leaders of the Fellowship of the Sun Church who take Jason under their wings as Jason becomes deeper involved with the church.

According to Ms. Moore from Bill and Sookie are still the main focus for True Blood and they fight and make-up just as much if not more this season then last and when I say make-up I am referring to very hot, steamy scenes.   There are time in their arguments Sookie threatens to call things off and Bill is described as having difficulty opening up completely to Sookie.  Ms. Moore states that both are incredibly stubborn “but fortunately, their relationship deepens and matures over the course of these four episodes, and certainly their bond will only grow closer as we approach the finale.”

Ms. Moore states that we will see the “eroticism”  due to the interactions between Bill and Sookie and the effects that Maryann has on people, but the “brutality”  will be seen by “bloodthirsty Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), who shows off his dark side as he figures prominently in this season’s events. Along with Eric‘s evil ways, there’s a new monster in town that promises extra carnage and mayhem. All in all, there’s more graphic gore and violence in these four entries than we saw in all of Season 1.”

Bill, Sookie and Eric travel to Dallas where they try to find a missing vampire Sheriff by the name Godric.  As Ms. Moore  states that “their arrival in Dallas coincides with the end of Episode 4, the appropriately titled “Let’s Take a Trip Together”, which additionally reveals just enough info about Maryann to further confuse viewers as to her true identity.”
