True Blood Season 3 Casting News: Lafayette’s Mom

Today it seems that all the casting news for Season 3 for True Blood is being announced as we have another to report. This time The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Emmy award winning actress, Alfre Woodard has been cast to play the role of Lafayette’s mother, Ruby Jean Reynolds. According to casting calls she is to play an intensely religious and viciously homophobic woman who is clearly deranged and being cared for in an elite private facility.
Ms. Woodard is best know for her Emmy award winning performances in Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, the Practice, Golden Globe winning performance in Miss Evers’ Boys and a SAG Award for The Piano Lesson. In other news this past week her daughter, Mavis Spencer was selected as Miss Golden Globe 2010 for “The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.”
All True Blood fans are anxiously waiting for season 3’s return as it appears it is going to be another stellar season!
