True Blood Season 3: Kristin Bauer Says Lots More Pam

Pam is one of True Blood‘s regular characters who hasn’t had a lot of screen time in the first two seasons, but she has certainly added color to the show with her dry humor and stylish wardrobe. Played by actress Kristin Bauer, Pam will be getting more of the spotlight in the upcoming third season.

In the Sookie Stackhouse books, Pam‘s story becomes more substantial with the third book, Club Dead. She develops more of a relationship with Sookie, and her character remains important throughout the series. Author Charlaine Harris has even stated on multiple occasions that Pam is her favorite character to write because she’s so fun and sarcastic.

Kristin did an interview with the website Movie Mikes in which she talks about her experience on True Blood, as well as the animal welfare charities she supports so passionately.

When asked how she felt about the success of the show, Kristin joked,

“Terrible. I feel sickened by it.”

In truth, she said that she was excited to get the part because of the chance to work with Alan Ball and because she likes vampires–beyond that, the overwhelming popularity of the series is “the greatest gift.”

She discussed the nature of working on television shows, noting how they are so different from films because they shoot at a faster pace. Although, True Blood, which only has a 12-episode season since it is on a cable channel like HBO, can take more care per episode instead of rushing through the process like networks do with their 22 episodes in a season.

On the subject of Season three, Kristin seemed afraid for her job (possibly even her life) if she spoiled anything. All she was comfortable saying was that her role would be larger and that Pam‘s sexuality would be explored, as Alan has already confirmed.

Kristin also shared about the causes she advocates including the PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) who are trying to stop horrifying experiments on animals and the IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare).

“I have huge passions–animals, and the innocents of the world. Basically children and animals, that is my big thing. Right now I am working with IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare), trying to help whales. It has been illegal to kill whales since the ’80s, but they are doing it anyway.”

She does great work as both an actress and a humanitarian. It will be wonderful seeing her bring more to the character of Pam when True Blood returns!
