Two True Blood Actresses Nominated For The Tressie Souders Award

rutinawesleyThe Tressie Souders Awards are hosted by the International Black Women’s Film Festival and is dedicated to the recognition and accomplishments of African American Women in Film, Television and Media.  It pays homage to the first African American women filmmakers and is named after one of the pioneers, Tressie Souders, who wrote and directed A Woman’s Error in 1922.  This year two actresses from HBO’s “True Blood” have been nominated for Best Actress in a Cable Series, Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) and Adina Porter (Lettie Mae Thornton). The Tressie Awards are judged by the general public and by a select jury of peers and nominations will end on March 31, 2009 at 11:59 p.m with winners being selected by April 30, 2009.
