November 26, 2010

Lafayette comin’ atcha here. Youse know that I am an Entrepreneur! I work on da road crew to keep myself lookin’ hot and SEXAY and line my pockets with a little jingle. Then at nights I cook at Merlotte’s bar where all the local necks hang out. So now I’m branchin’ out and I’m goin’ to be Bon Temps version of da BAM! man. I mean no one has more Bam! Bam! Bam! than ‘lil ole me! And I kin cook too! Every week or so I’m going to teach y’all to make food good enough to melt even Nan Flanagan’s heart. Bon Chika Wow Wow – Appetit!

Jive Turkey Sloppy Joes

Child, youse know dat Turkey Day right around da corner. And you know down here, we gon get full off dat fried bird.

We gon have Nettie Mae’s macaroni and cheese, Tara’s green bean casserole, Sam’s potato salad, Arlene’s pumpkin pie, and Jason gon bring da dressing. I don’t know how well he gon do wit dat, but we gon give it a try. It’s his second Thanksgiving without Grams, so you know he gon be missing her.

And you remember what happened last year wit Andy and dat fried turkey. He darned near burned my whole property down, so you just know he ain’t got no invite to bring no food – we just told him to show up and fix himself a plate and we gon handle da cookin.

Heffers, I know y’all finna sit down da day after Thanksgiving to tryna figure out what you gonna do wit all dat leftover turkey. Turkey gumbo, turkey po-boys – well you get da picture. Well, ya boy gonna let you know whatcha can do wit da leftovers and yo family gonna love it.

5 cups of leftover turkey

½ bottle of BBQ sauce

¼ cup of mustard

1/8 stick of butter

2 tablespoons of grape jelly

Creole seasoning

Throw all dem ingredients into dat Crock Pot and mix dem together well. Simmer on low for 5 hours. What youse can do is put dat in ya Crock Pot when you head over to da mall on Friday. By da time you get back in from all dat beatin da pavement, ya food gonna be ready to serve. Let dat mix cook all day and den serve dat on some French bread, toast, hamburger buns, or for you Yankees up north, hoagie buns.

Enjoy & Happy Turkey Day, tricks!

Joe Manganiello, True Blood's Alcide, Macy's Parade Salvation Army CharityJoe Manganiello, True Blood's Alcide, Macy's Parade Salvation Army Charity

Though the cast of True Blood is without a doubt extremely giving of their time and energy, it seems that Joe Manganiello simply never stops being a ‘good guy’—even during the holidays.

Many of us return to the places we call ‘home’ for Thanksgiving, but this weekend Manganiello is going home and while he’s there he’ll participate in a Meet and Greet to benefit The Salvation Army.

Dubbed ‘Mt. Lebanon’s (a suburb of Pittsburgh) own Hollywood heartthrob,’ Joe will be on hand for the WPXI TV Channel 11 My Macy’s Parade and the aforementioned Meet and Greet to benefit The Salvation Army.

Here’s how to meet Joe, get his autograph and a photo of you and the big-hearted Mr. Manganiello, too!

Where: After the parade at the WPXI TV and 96.1 KISS Salvation Army Red Kettle drive at the Homestead Waterfront Towne Square.

When: Saturday, November 27th from 2:00 to 3:00 pm

Cost:  It’s FREE!

Admission is free, plus enjoy free Dave and Busters gift cards and other prizes while supplies last. For a suggested donation of $5.00, get an autograph and snap a photo with the popular TV and movie star. Please help WPXI, KISS FM, Joe and The Salvation Army wage war on poverty.

The Salvation Army had this to say about Joe:

“WPXI and Clear Channel have a long history of supporting The Salvation Army at Christmas,” said The Salvation Army’s Western Pennsylvania Divisional Commander Major Robert Reel. “We are thrilled to have Joe on board, giving his time to help our families in need. It says a lot about his character that he remembers to give back to his hometown.”

Aww.  Truly, Joe Manganiello’s goodness of heart is one to admire and try to emulate.

We hope everyone has a super-happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the games, the parades and/or extra day off!

November 24, 2010

Fans Must Wait to Buy Passes

Comic-Con Fans have overloaded registration for Comic-Con 2011 once again!

For the second time, fans of Comic-Con International crashed the site during registration, even though this round of registration started earlier in the day than the first attempt did. Officials at Comic-Con have left a new comment on the site about the once-again closed registration:

Once more, unfortunately, there have been issues with Comic-Con registration. So we have again decided to close it down.

We are well aware that many people have taken time from work, school or other activities and others woke up very early. There really is no way to convey our level of regret for this turn of events.

We are currently researching our registration options.

Hopefully the issues will be fixed soon and fans will be able to purchase tickets to the highly anticipated event.

As always, Comic-Con will be held at the San Diego Convention Center from July 21-24th. Tickets will be available on the official site once registration reopens with four day passes for sale at $105 and single day passes starting at $37.

Queen Sophie-Anne’s House For Sale!

November 24, 2010

Reduced! The Estate Is Now On the Market For Only $34.5 Million

Vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) & Queen Sophie-Anne (Evan Rachel Wood) in a natatorium that has a pool, glass ceilings and walls lined with more than 500,000 seashells

Wouldn’t you love a chance to spend a night or more—it has rented monthly for $250,000—living it up in Queen Sophie-Anne’s (Evan Rachel Wood), very True Blood-style, 8-acre, Malibu oceanfront estate?

If you answered yes, then you should hear (and see) some neat details of this totally unique mansion, ‘La Villa Contenta’, that makes it truly ‘fit-for-a queen.’

The centerpiece for many of the True Blood scenes was in the breathtaking, gilded natatorium with it’s striking glass ceilings and eye-popping half-million shells-lined walls. A total dream house for both fangbangers and vampires!

Queen Sophie- Anne's mansion now a Malibu listing for $250,000 per Queen Sophie- Anne's mansion now a Malibu listing for $250,000 per month Queen Sophie- Anne's mansion now a Malibu listing for $250,000 per month

The estate is on the market for $34.5 million with a 1.52-acre parcel (but if you want the entire 8-acre parcel, it will cost $75 million). The three-story home features 11,500 square feet of space, 4 bedrooms, 8.5 baths, a screening room, two maid’s houses, a guesthouse, a gym and nine fireplaces.

Not only does the home look like a Hollywood star’s palace–it actually has been in a number of films and television shows besides True Blood. La Villa Contenta can be seen both in Adam Sandler’s comedy ‘Funny People’ and in Paul Rudd’s ‘I Love You, Man.’

One must admit though, the home truly got a ‘star turn’ when it was featured in multiple episodes of True Blood as Queen Sophie-Anne’s ‘palace.’

Of course, for Truebies the best part was Queen Sophie-Anne’s famous daylight natatorium, which True Blood Production Designer Suzuki Ingerslev says took her breath away:

After all the location scouting I have done over the years, in my opinion, nothing even comes close to the amount of detail that went into this pool house. We all just stood there and took the room in the first time we went there, and pictures don’t even begin to do it justice. The statues, chandeliers, chair rail and ceilings are all made out of a variety of various sizes of seashells and corals. It is astounding, and we could never accomplish this on our budget, and time frame. It is truly breathtaking and exquisite.
