Recently, Joe Manganiello (who played werewolf Alcide Herveaux in HBO’s True Blood) attended the Human Rights Campaign Seattle Dinner to accept his Ally for Equality award. Joe had this to say in his speech:

I never set out to be an advocate. I’m simply a person who believes in equality for everyone and I’m a person who believes in standing up for his friends.

Joe achieved this accolade by supporting the work of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) at past galas as well as being a strong advocate for equal rights for the LGBT community.

Joe’s girlfriend, Sofia Vergara attended the event with him and was kind enough to post a couple of pictures to Instagram:

Radio Interview With True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard

September 15, 2014

Alexander Skarsgard Rings in From London to Chat on Ralphie Tonight:

ALEXANDER-SKARSGARD-THE-GIVERAlexander Skarsgard (who played viking vampire Eric Northman in HBO’s True Blood) discusses the morality of his latest role in the movie adaption of Lois Lowry’s dystopian novel, The Giver.

For fans of the book, Alexander will play the part of Jonas’s father. He is a character who, according to our moral standards is possibly a character who is morally corrupt. Alexander Skarsgard argues against this opinion as, for his character, his moral standing is based on a criteria that is vastly different to ours. You can view the partial synopsis for this movie below:

The setting is a utopian society in the year 2048. After “a big war”, the community had decided to get rid of colors, therefore different races and feelings. All the citizens have had the memories from before erased from their minds. The communities are run by the Elders, a circle of senior citizens who have supreme authority over everyone’s way of life.

Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is an 18-year-old about to graduate from school with his best friends Fiona (Odeya Rush) and Asher (Cameron Monaghan). Jonas’ father and mother (Alexander Skarsgård and Katie Holmes) are anxious at what path their son will be chosen for. At the graduation celibration where the entire community attends, Jonas is skipped over until the Chief Elder (Meryl Streep) awards him as ‘Receiver of Memory’ as his future. According to the law, the Receiver must receive the only memories of before from the past receiver, The Giver (Jeff Bridges). The Receiver of Memory is the only individual in the community who has the memories and must advise the Chief Elder, and the other Elders, on the decisions for the community, who are unaware of anything that happened before their community.

The full synopsis can be read here, but please be aware it may contain spoilers.

Alexander also talks about jamming with Taylor Swift on the set of The Giver – or his lack of it!

True Blood’s Kristina Anapau Takes on CEO Role

September 10, 2014

From Fairy to Business Owner of Color It New:

Kristina Anapau stars as the fairy Maurella in HBO's True BloodTruebie fans will know Kristina Anapau as the fairy, Maurella, in HBO’s True Blood. She was the one who seduced Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) before producing four offspring for Andy to raise on her behalf. Adilyn (Bailey Noble) being the only one to survive to adulthood.

As if acting wasn’t a busy enough career for Kristina, she has now taken on business ownership as well!

Her company is called Color It New and Kristina fills us in (sort of) on what the product is:

I was constantly facing a particular fashion dilemma and realized that if I was having this challenge, that millions of other people probably were too. I looked for a solution already on the market and couldn’t find one, so decided to develop a product myself. After almost four years of research and development later, Color It New is ready to be shared with the world!

Her new company is reported to change people’s fashion closets forever. While the product is yet to be fully disclosed, you can join the mailing list so you can find out all about this product as soon as it is ready. You can sign up by clicking here.

With this new business, does that mean we won’t get to see any more of Kristina gracing our screens? Or does she plan to juggle the two roles?

I’ve been able to juggle both so far, so we shall see! I plan to bring some really great people on board in short order after the launch, so that should allow me to give my acting career the time it needs as well as work on some additional business ideas I have.

Well, that’s a relief! Let us know what you think by commenting below,

HBO’s True Detective to Fill True Blood Shaped Hole

September 7, 2014

Another ‘True’ Series Will Be Filling HBO’s June Schedule:

true-detectiveUsually June means just one thing to Truebies: the latest season of True Blood! But, alas, next June will not mean that at all now that the vampire series has been staked by HBO. So what will HBO be filling the June void with? True Detective is the answer. While there isn’t a vampire in sight in this show, it may be worth checking out if you haven’t done so already. June will see the return of True Detective for Season 2 this is a change from it’s January 2014 start date for Season 1. You can view the synopsis on the show below:

HBO premieres a new drama series, True Detective, this season focusing on Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson) and “Rust” Cohle (Matthew McConaughey), two detectives and former partners who worked in Louisiana’s Criminal Investigation Division in the mid-1990s.
In 2012, for reasons not immediately revealed, the two are interviewed separately by investigators about their most notorious case: the macabre 1995 murder of a prostitute by a possible serial killer with disturbing occult leanings. As they look back on the case, Hart and Cohle’s personal backstories and often-strained relationship become a major focal point.

Hart, an outgoing native Louisianan and family man whose marriage is being frayed by work stress and infidelity, is (at least on the surface) the polar opposite of Cohle, a lone-wolf pessimist and former narcotics detective from Texas. While the plot is moved forward by their shared obsession to hunt down the ritual killer, the true drama centers around the mercurial nature of Hart and Cohle’s relationship and personalities, and how they affect each other as detectives, friends, and men.

You can also view the opening title for True Detective below. It certainly has a slight HBO True Blood feel to it:
