Alexander Skarsgard Rings in From London to Chat on Ralphie Tonight:
Alexander Skarsgard (who played viking vampire Eric Northman in HBO’s True Blood) discusses the morality of his latest role in the movie adaption of Lois Lowry’s dystopian novel, The Giver.
For fans of the book, Alexander will play the part of Jonas’s father. He is a character who, according to our moral standards is possibly a character who is morally corrupt. Alexander Skarsgard argues against this opinion as, for his character, his moral standing is based on a criteria that is vastly different to ours. You can view the partial synopsis for this movie below:
The setting is a utopian society in the year 2048. After “a big war”, the community had decided to get rid of colors, therefore different races and feelings. All the citizens have had the memories from before erased from their minds. The communities are run by the Elders, a circle of senior citizens who have supreme authority over everyone’s way of life.
Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is an 18-year-old about to graduate from school with his best friends Fiona (Odeya Rush) and Asher (Cameron Monaghan). Jonas’ father and mother (Alexander Skarsgård and Katie Holmes) are anxious at what path their son will be chosen for. At the graduation celibration where the entire community attends, Jonas is skipped over until the Chief Elder (Meryl Streep) awards him as ‘Receiver of Memory’ as his future. According to the law, the Receiver must receive the only memories of before from the past receiver, The Giver (Jeff Bridges). The Receiver of Memory is the only individual in the community who has the memories and must advise the Chief Elder, and the other Elders, on the decisions for the community, who are unaware of anything that happened before their community.

It seems that the viking physique of vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) has been shed since the star finished filming HBO’s True Blood earlier this year. Instead now Alexander has taken on a role that has required him to shed weight for a role in the thriller movie, Hidden.
Considering how much blood and gore and unhappiness can occur during your average True Blood episode, the finale turned out to be surprising upbeat – in between the aforementioned blood and gore! But, arguably the happiest – and funniest – ending of all went to the crew at Fangtasia. Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and his progeny, Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), ended up taking over Mr. Gus’s (Will Yun Lee) company and making their fortune selling New Blood.
At the moment Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam the vampire) has a few True Blood memorabilia items up for auction on eBay. Among the items is this spectacular oil painting she did of co-star Alexander Skarsgard (who played her maker Eric Northman in HBO’s True Blood).

There seems to be little comparison; Eric Northman (played by Alexander Skarsgard) is a 1,000 year old viking vampire, and Father (from newly released movie, The Giver) raises children from infancy. How on earth are these two characters alike? But, for the actor who has played both roles, he can definitely draw a distinction.
Many truebies who were Team Eric went into absolute meltdown in the
It seems Kristin Bauer van Straten (who plays Eric’s progeny, Pam) is not the only one crying over the demise of HBO’s True Blood. Eric Northman actor, Alexander Skarsgard, admitted he too was in tears after the end of the long running vampire series this year.
