Only on True Blood: Lions & Were-Tigers, Oh My!

Stephen Moyer Wanted Were-Tigers, What Did Anna Paquin Want?

True to the End HBO True Blood Season 7 promo posterAt this year’s Comic Con, the cast of HBO’s True Blood got asked many questions, but one in particular caught their imagination: ‘What supernatural creature would you have liked to see on True Blood?’ An EW reporter asked them in the video below. As for Stephen Moyer (who not only plays vampire Bill Compton, but has directed several episodes of True Blood), he would have liked to see his wife and co-star, Anna Paquin (who plays lead character, Sookie Stackhouse) reenact out a scene from the Southern Vampire Mystery books the TV series is based on. The scene involved Sookie riding on the back of a were-tiger through the swamps of Louisiana!

And as for Anna Paquin? What would see have liked to see – supernatural-wise – in True Blood that never made it into any of the seasons? A were-owl! According to Stephen, there was, in fact, an owl in the show, but his wife was quick to point out it was a shapeshifting owl and not, technically, a were-owl.

Find out what the rest of the actors had to say in the full video below:

COMIC CON 2014: Deborah Ann Woll Talks About Her True Blood Reunion

San Diego’s Comic Con is a Great Place For a True Blood Reunion!

Deborah Ann Woll stars as Jessica Hamby in HBOs True Blood Season 7At this year’s Comic Con in San Diego, True Blood actress Deborah Ann Woll (who plays Jessica Hamby) got a final chance to catch up with the cast of HBO’s vampire series. It is a cast and crew that she feels are more like family and friends than any other movie or TV show she has worked on so far. While it has only been a few short weeks since the cast and crew wrapped up the final filming of the show, it still felt like a reunion for Deborah!

Speaking of reunions – or, more to the point, unions – what did Deborah have to say about a certain recent union between her character, Jessica, and Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten)? And how did she think Violet (Karolina Wydra) would react:

You can kind of see she is not happy about it and I don’t think Violet is someone to let anything go. So there’ll definitely be some drama there.

You can watch the full video she shot with Access Hollywood below:

COMIC CON 2014: What if There Was a True Blood Season 8?

The True Blood Cast Discuss Their Show For the Last Time at Comic Con:

Kristin Bauer van Straten stars as vampire Pam in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 7 (entitled 'May Be the Last Time')For the cast of HBO’s True Blood, attending San Diego’s Comic Con this year was bittersweet. While they got to celebrate their show one last time, it also churned up the emotions too. For Kristin Bauer van Straten (who plays vampire Pam – a character with, ironically, very little display of emotion) it was particularly trying. As a person who gets very emotional very easily, she felt worn out and dehydrated by the end:

It’s been really intense. I’m totally dehydrated. I feel like I’m ten months pregnant and I just need a c-section because it’s going on forever.

While Kristin never wanted the show to end, she is certainly over having to relive the end of it!

And what if they did go into a Season 8? Where do they think their characters could have gone? Is there anything their character hadn’t done that the actor would liked to have seen happen if there were another season? Carrie Preston, the actor who plays Arlene Fowler, was happy with Arlene’s story line, but she felt it would have been interesting to see her character become a supernatural!

COMIC CON 2014: Anna Paquin – “Our Last True Blood Family Event”

Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) Talks About the True Blood Cast being Like Family to Her:

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) cry over Bill Compton's (Stephen Moyer) Hep-V in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 6 (entitled 'Karma')While many Truebies are already mourning the loss of their favorite vampire show, for the cast of HBO’s True Blood, the grief appears to run just as deep. Recently, at San Diego’s Comic Con 2014, Anna Paquin (who plays the telepathic waitress and resident fairy, Sookie Stackhouse), talked to Access Hollywood about how close the cast and crew of True Blood has become. She even referred to Comic Con as ‘the last family event together‘.

You can watch the full interview below. Anna Paquin also discusses her hair color, how quickly Season 7 is whizzing by, her very last day on set, what she has taken away from her time on True Blood and just why she won’t be stealing any mementos from Lafayette’s (Nelsan Ellis) house:

COMIC CON 2014: True Blood Cast Hints at a ‘Not Happily Ever After’

Are Eric and Pam True Blood’s Version of ‘True Love’ Then?

True to the End HBO True Blood Season 7 promo posterLast weekend at San Diego’s Comic Con 2014, Zap2It got to talk to the cast of HBO’s True Blood about things such as true love and happy ends and do they exist in the Sookieverse. So how do the residents of Bon Temps and Shreveport view love in this TV series?

According to Kristin Bauer van Straten, who plays vampire Pam, she feels her character’s relationship with her maker, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) transcends the idyllic notion of true love – after all they have been together for more than a hundred years. She suggests that their love is perfect and unconditional after all their time together.

Nelsan Ellis (who plays the flamboyant Lafayette Reynolds) thinks that his character could definitely find true love. And then immediately backs it up with a ‘but we’ll have to wait and see‘ stock response. Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur), on the other hand, believes his character has come to forgive vampires and has had the realization that vendettas are actually pointless. Once he discovers this, he also finds out that he is no longer alone in this word any more.

As for Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler-Bellefleur) and Anna Camp (who plays god-shopper and resident baddie, Sarah Newlin), both women agree that Arlene could possibly be the only person who could talk some sense into Sarah. But apparently the pair never get a scene together, so it is a moot point. Although, this would indicate that Sarah Newlin’s story line could be held entirely in Dallas for this final season. And what a shame too, that is one southern scrag fight I would have loved to see!

Stephen Moyer’s (who plays vampire Bill Compton who is currently suffering from an accelerated dose of Hep-V) words are possibly the most telling though. When asked about whether there will be a happy ending for anyone in True Blood Season 7, his reply was:

I’m not sure that’s how Alan Ball conceived things. Even though Alan’s not running the show any more, happily ever after is something that we have always known on our show that as soon as something good happens to a character, something bad is about to happen. So, do you ever know? Are they ever happy? I don’t know.

COMIC Con 2014: Stephen Moyer Talks About True Blood’s Final Episode Ever

Episode 10; “It’s a clever way… to tie up a lot of knots!”

Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) takes a bath in HBO's True Blood Season 7 Episode 5 (entitled 'Lost Cause' and previously entitled 'Return to Oz')Fans of HBO’s True Blood are in for a glut of new teasers about True Blood’s final season. Michael Ausiello from TV Line got a chance to sit down with Stephen Moyer (who plays vampire Bill Compton in True Blood) and ask him what Stephen thought about the very last episode of the show:

Obviously, as the season’s going on, you get an idea of where things are moving. So, there were a lot of things in there that I was expecting, there were a couple of things I wasn’t. And I think that Brian Buckner – Bucky – has done a good job of giving every single fan something that they would like.

What of filming that last scene?

Of course Stephen is sad, but he is also happy too. it is a somewhat bittersweet moment for him.

And what about Bill and his recent case of Hep-V? Is there any hope for him?

I think the interesting thing about it is… One of the things I was slightly unsure of going from Season 6 into Season 7 was that Hep-V is this disease that only kills vampires. Obviously there’s lots of metaphors in there and parallels with our society and, therefore, I was worried that because it’s so debilitating that it might be a downer, that it might feel like it’s actually sort of crushing the energy of our show which has always been so dynamic and great. But, actually, I think it makes the emotion become more impacted.

Mmm, sounds like he avoided answering the question there…

Ausiello then asked how Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill fans will like the Season 7 finale:

I think there will be people who are pleased and people who… don’t quite get what they expect… It’s a clever way, we do well to tie up a lot of knots.

There is plenty more to this interview, and you can watch it in its entirety below:

COMIC CON 2014: Kristin Bauer van Straten Talks About All the ‘Lasts’ for True Blood

True Blood Season 7: The Last Scene, The Last Day:

Kristin Bauer van Straten stars as Pam in HBO's True Blood Season 7 promo trailer 1Michael Ausiello was lucky enough to get a chance to sit down with Kristin Bauer van Straten (who stars as vampire Pam in HBO’s True Blood) during San Diego Comic Con 2014 and chat about all things relating to True Blood. For the actor who is very emotional about the show and cast at the best of times, this time it was especially emotionally draining as she talked about all the ‘last times‘ for True Blood Season 7:

You know we’ve had so many ‘lasts’. My last scene with this person, then this person. And then my last day of shooting, and then we didn’t get all of it, so then I had another last day… then throughout this whole process I sort of keep it together by going; “See you at Comic Con!” And I don’t know what I’m going to say here.

To lighten the mood (and, I suspect, to keep Kristin Bauer van Straten from tearing up there and then), Ausiello moved on to talk about all the fun stuff Kristin’s character, Pam, has had to do so far in the first half of Season 7. Kristin promptly starts laughing about all the fun she had shooting the scenes involving the tea party massacre, seeing Alexander Skarsgard (who plays her maker, Eric Northman) in an authentic Texan outfit, and the fact that her infamous line (which sounds a little like ‘republican’) from Episode 5 managed to trend on Twitter! But, mostly, she thoroughly enjoyed exploring her character via those fantastic flashbacks.

But how does she cope with the fact her maker is dying?

I try to, as an actor, borrow from anything Kristin has. And I have such fondness for Alex [at this point Kristin tears up] that I just thought about how it was our last season. [pauses] You know there was enough to borrow from, like, my time [as] Pam and Eric is limited.

There is LOADS more Kristin has to say to TV Line and you can check out the full interview below:

COMIC CON 2014: The True Blood Panel Says Goodbye!

Read the True Blood Comic Con Transcripts Here:

Group shot of the True Blood signing at Comic con 2014
Image courtesy of @TrueBloodHBO Twitter Account

For the very last time, Comic Con will be seeing a True Blood panel. *cries* With this in mind, here is a rundown on everything that was said and done during this epic finale panel. (Sincere gratitude and immense thanks to DigitalSpy and HitFix for doing all the hard word of transcribing the panel so quickly!) We have included some of the highlights directly for you to enjoy, otherwise click on the DigitalSpy and HitFix links after our recap for the full coverage.

So what happened? What was said? Did anyone cry? (HINT: It’s Kristin Bauer van Straten mostly…)

It seems with all the sad goodbyes, there was plenty of reminiscing going on. When asked about the very first episode of True Blood, the panel had the following to share:

“Can anybody remember seven years ago?” [Stephen] Moyer ponders. “I just remember that ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ was shooting next door and we had all of these naked bloody people walking around,” [Sam] Trammell says. [Rutina] Wesley remembers being terrified, because it was almost her first job out of school. Lafayette was supposed to die at some point. [Nelsan] Ellis remembers wondering why his shirts had to be so tight. Moyer remembers a moment in the pilot when Nelsan was cooking and started humping the grill. Nelsan said something to an extra named “Big John” and Big John has been in every episode since.

As for all the flashbacks included in Season 7, it seems Brian Buckner is trying to find closure for all the characters. Bill (Stephen Moyer) is finding himself, Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Fangtasia had to have a backstory that was suitably appropriate – considering how long us Truebies had to wait for one!

And what of the last day on set? Since we are still remembering?

Wesley calls it “weird.” She remembers a long hug with her TV mother. “It was beautiful and sad and also… it’s like it’s on to new things.” Buckner promises that we haven’t seen the last of Rutina, yet. “My last day, I wrapped at 4 a.m. off in the woods somewhere,” [Deborah Ann] Woll remembers. She says that they wrapped 17 people at once, so that they could all go together. [Carrie] Preston admits to being the first cry, “mourning, but celebrating too.” “We started crying at the table read for that episode,” Preston says. “I’m still waiting for that cry,” [Kristin] Bauer [van Straten] admits. Moyer also wrapped with a 5 a.m. shoot, saying that we’re as much a part of this as they are. He references the continuity with the crew as well. “Seven years is like doing a doctorate in vampirism and it’s all with the same people and that is just extraordinary to have,” Moyer says. In his last moment, he was struck by saying “Bye” to the crew, because he knew he’d see the actors again here.

When discussing the tea party massacre in Episode 5, it seems Kristin Bauer van Straten was happy to hear that Sarah Palin drew offense from it:

“She’ll weigh in on anything. It’s sweet, many many years later that I’ve made her angry,” animal rights activist Bauer van Straten says, recalling Palin as the wolf-killer-lady.

And who will Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) end up with? Brian Buckner had the following to say:

They’re in each other’s spheres for sure. This show started out and worked because of the chemistry they shared. They got married for us! I certainly felt coming into it that we had to go back to Bill and Sookie. How we come back to them, I’m not telling you.

While it is a stock question lately, it seems the cast are still filching things from set. So what have they taken now from the True Blood set?

“I’ve got my brown hair in case I ever need it,” [Anna] Camp says. Buckner took Sookie’s porch swing. Moyer took two dead deer feet from Merlotte’s. “I strongly suspect they’re gonna end up in our house,” says a disgusted [Anna] Paquin. “HBO should probably sue me, because I’ve been stealing from them for seven years,” Ellis says. He’s been forgetting to bring back a lot of Lafayette’s wardrobe. All of the vampires took their fangs. Rutina also took some human clothes, including a pair of Tara’s jean shorts. Trammell took a couple boxes of matches and his boots. What Trammell really wants is the big wooden menu from Merlotte’s, but Warner Brothers took it.

An awesome fan question came in the way of “is there a reason there hasn’t been much time to mourn Tara and Alcide (Joe Manganiello)?” It seems these is:

You don’t get to mourn before you know what’s going to happen.

It seems Brian Buckner wanted people to see all aspects of death, not just those massive scenes where people are prepared – both before and after – for it. He wanted people to be just as shocked and horrified when they didn’t see it coming, that they would have to work through the pain themselves.

And what about looking ahead? What can we expect in the second half of Season 7? Brian Buckner had this to say:

It’s not done changing, it’s not going to slow down… You guys love these characters and we felt we had to land them in places where you would be okay not seeing them anymore.

Will Sarah Newlin get what she deserves before the show ends? Anna camp had the following to say:

I think I get what I deserve.

She wouldn’t elaborate any further, but did admit that even her boyfriend (in real life) thought Sarah deserved to be punished!

Here’s the latest True Blood teaser video – direct from San Diego Comic Con!

Stephen Moyer stars as Bill Compton, the latest Hep-V victim, from HBO's True Blood Season 7There is plenty of new stuff to be gleaned from this latest True Blood teaser. For example:

  • It seems HBO are preparing us for a decision to be made over who Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) will end up with when True Blood concludes in a few short weeks.
  • With Sookie realizing Bill (Stephen Moyer) is dying from Hep-V, it seems she is spurred on in search of a cure.
  • We also see a reappearance of Sookie’s fairy grandfather, Niall Brigant (Rutger Hauer) – could he be a part of the Hep-V cure?
  • Well, it seems Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) knows – since she claims there is, in fact, an antidote! YAY! Will she help though?
  • Tara (Rutina Wesley) is set to make more appearances. This means only one thing: Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) has gotten her hands on another vampire.
  • Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) seems to have his hands full with Violet (Karolina Wydra).
  • Hoyt (Jim Parrack) meets Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) for the first time – well, that he can remember anyway…
  • Arlene (Carrie Preston) gets her promised sex dream – or is it reality?

And then we have a huge blur of action. Did you pick out everything that happened right at the end? Let me know what you saw by commenting below!
