True Blood Wins GLAAD Media Award

Denis OHare GLAAD Media Awards True BloodTrue Blood was the well-deserved recipient of this year’s GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Outstanding Drama Series award. The award was accepted by Denis O’Hare (Russell Edgington) at the Marriott Marquis Times Square on March 19, 2011 in New York City. As detailed on their website, GLAAD Media Awards:

“Recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”

True Blood Receives GLAAD Media Awards Nomination

Nominated for Outstanding Drama Series

The nominees for the GLAAD Media Awards were released this week and HBO‘s True Blood was among them.   The awards recognize and honor news and entertainment media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives.  

Outstanding Drama Series

  • Brothers & Sisters, ABC
  • Degrassi, TeenNick 
  • Grey’s Anatomy, ABC
  • Pretty Little Liars, ABC Family
  • True Blood, HBO

The GLAAD Awards are held in three different cities and it is not yet known which city or which day the Outstanding Drama Series will be awarded but we will update you when it is announced!

True Blood Nominated for GLAAD Media Award

True Blood has garnered another nomination for its thrilling second season, this time for a GLAAD Media Award. The show has been recognized in the category of Outstanding Drama Series, along with the following nominees:

  • Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
  • Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)
  • Mad Men (AMC)
  • Skins (BBC America)
  • True Blood (HBO)

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation honors various media outlets, from film and television to theater and journalism, that foster understanding and respect. Their Media Awards “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”

The award winners are announced in three separate cities (which categories are presented at which ceremony will be finalized in February). The awards show in New York City will be held on March 13, 2010, at the Marriott Marquis, in Los Angeles on April 17, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, and in San Francisco on June 5, 2010, at The Westin – St. Francis.
