Autographed Life-Sized Decal of Anna Paquin Auctioned for Charity

annaggDuring the Golden Globe the winners autographed life-sized versions of themselves backstage with ET. These images — called Wall-Us — are movable life-sized durable vinyl cut-out decals that will be auctioned off on e-bay with all proceeds going to a very good cause: Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Some of the stars that you can bid on the Wall-U decals are: Kate Winslet, Mickey Rourke, Colin Farrell, Anna Paquin, Tom Wilkinson and the cast of ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’

The auction for the Anna Paquin life-size decal will end on February 10, 2009 at 8:55pm (PST)/11:55pm (EST). Watch the video below narrated by Mary Hart.

New Zealanders Still Talking About Anna Paquin’s Win For True Blood

gg2009annanew1It has been a week since Anna Paquin won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Drama in her portrayal of Sookie Stackhouse in Alan Ball’s successful HBO TV series “True Blood” and the papers in New Zealand continue to post information about her win and reactions. The papers claim that although Anna is back in the spotlight again with her award she has still remained humble and down-to-earth. The papers focused on her comments following the her win as an indication that although she is a big hollywood star she has not forgotten her roots and remained modest. Anna commented to the press about her win “I was the pale brunette from New Zealand, and I’m playing this Southern tanned blonde, essentially a Hooters waitress.” She went further to say that this award is “100 percent cooler” than her Best Supporting Actress Oscar win for The Piano at age 11. “I don’t even remember that, it was very blurry and crazy,” Paquin says. “This is quite blurry and crazy too, but at least I’m old enough to drink and stay out past 10pm.

Her interview begins a 2:21 where she describes the shock of her name being announced to the point that she was not even sure she heard right until she noticed everyone was looking at her. She did worry about the usual things when you go up on a stage, don’t trip, don’t fall down and I hope I didn’t forget anyone in my speech.

One of the reporters asked her how was this win different from winning the Oscar for “The Piano.” Anna Paquin stated that due to her age at the time (11) she was really unaware of what was going on and at least now she can comprehend it and stay up past 10:00pm. Another reporter tried to pry from Anna any information about what may happen in Season 2. Anna teased them by stating that she couldn’t tell them and they will have to wait and see.

gganna5After winning Best Actress in a TV Drama for her portrayal of Sookie Stackhouse on Alan Ball’s HBO hit TV series “True Blood,” Anna Paquin sat down with TV Guide to talk about how she felt about winning the Golden Globe against such competition. Anna stated that she was extremely excited and happy and that she was honoured to be nominated with a group of women that she holds in high esteem. They discussed the differences between this win and her win back when she was 11 when she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work in “The Piano.” In closing the interviewer asks what are her plans for the rest of the night and Anna’s response was “to go hang out with the people I work with, everybody is here.”

True Blood’s Anna Paquin Interview at the HBO After Party

During the HBO After Party Mark Steines from ET had the opportunity to catch up with Anna Paquin and the rest of the cast of “True Blood” and talk to her about her win and ask her where she plans to hide her award. Anna stated that she does not plan to hide it and her co-star joked around stating that it was going to be in every scene. It was wonderful to hear Anna praise the show and the hard work that her fellow cast members contribute to the show.

ET Interview with True Blood’s Anna Paquin at the Golden Globe

Anna discussed that this was her first time at the Golden Globe and it she was in awe with it all. The reporter asked her to pick a card in play a game and the card read, “what secret could you dress tell?” In response Anna stated that the dress would not tell because she does not tell secrets.

True Blood’s Anna Paquin Makes her New Zealand Family Proud

gganna8On the other side of the globe Anna Paquin’s family learned that she won Best Actress in TV Drama on Monday, mid-afternoon New Zealand time. Her family back home in New Zealnd stated that they were very excited and proud for her win and that “we’ll certainly be toasting Anna tonight, we’ll crack open a bottle of bubbly and toast her.” Now only will Anna’s family will soon have the opportunity to see Anna’s performance on “True Blood,” but so will the rest of New Zealand when Season 1 of “True Blood” premieres sometime in February. Based on the success it has had in North America it seems that it is destined to be a hit when it premieres across Europe, Asia, Isreal, South America, Australia and New Zealand.
