HBO’s True Detective to Fill True Blood Shaped Hole

Another ‘True’ Series Will Be Filling HBO’s June Schedule:

true-detectiveUsually June means just one thing to Truebies: the latest season of True Blood! But, alas, next June will not mean that at all now that the vampire series has been staked by HBO. So what will HBO be filling the June void with? True Detective is the answer. While there isn’t a vampire in sight in this show, it may be worth checking out if you haven’t done so already. June will see the return of True Detective for Season 2 this is a change from it’s January 2014 start date for Season 1. You can view the synopsis on the show below:

HBO premieres a new drama series, True Detective, this season focusing on Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson) and “Rust” Cohle (Matthew McConaughey), two detectives and former partners who worked in Louisiana’s Criminal Investigation Division in the mid-1990s.
In 2012, for reasons not immediately revealed, the two are interviewed separately by investigators about their most notorious case: the macabre 1995 murder of a prostitute by a possible serial killer with disturbing occult leanings. As they look back on the case, Hart and Cohle’s personal backstories and often-strained relationship become a major focal point.

Hart, an outgoing native Louisianan and family man whose marriage is being frayed by work stress and infidelity, is (at least on the surface) the polar opposite of Cohle, a lone-wolf pessimist and former narcotics detective from Texas. While the plot is moved forward by their shared obsession to hunt down the ritual killer, the true drama centers around the mercurial nature of Hart and Cohle’s relationship and personalities, and how they affect each other as detectives, friends, and men.

You can also view the opening title for True Detective below. It certainly has a slight HBO True Blood feel to it:

Unknown framed artwork sent by HBO
Unknown framed artwork sent by HBO

Hello all Truebies! As we wind down the last two episodes of True Blood (SOB!) I received this picture in the mail from HBO. It’s like they knew my walls are lined with fake Dutch master floral paintings! It’s a wonderful gift.. and I can but assume it was from one of the sets because there was ABSOLUTELY NO NOTE!

So I’d like some help.. does anyone remember this picture hanging in a house or office or anywhere? I’d love a little provenance to go with my new treasured picture.

Oh, I also got one of these, no packaging, just tossed into a giant box and sent with no return address. It took me 2 weeks to figure out it was Alcide! LOL What a fun little surprise! Thanks to the powers that be. 🙂 It turns out it’s made by Funko and you can get one of your own from HBO!

True Blood Season 7 Episode 3 Title Name Released!

HBO Gives Us the Heads Up on What’s in Store for True Blood:

HBO True Blood Promo PosterFans of HBO’s True Blood are eagerly scrambling for whatever information they can find out about Season 7 – the very last season in the series ever. So when HBO releases the title name for Episode 3 of Season 7, then we just had to jump on it! It’s not much, but it is certainly something to mull over until June 22nd 2014 when True Blood premieres!

True Blood Season 7 Episode 3 Details

Fire in the Hole – what an interesting title name that is. Considering Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) is still searching for Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) in Episode 2, could she actually find him? Or is this a reference to the Hep V infected vampires that were encroaching on Bellefleurs (formerly Merlotte’s) at the very end of True Blood Season 6? Considering the fact that the teaser videos for Season 7 of True Blood have a distinct battlezone feel to it, could this imply that ‘they'(whomever ‘they‘ may be) are planning to bomb the crap out of those infected vamps in this episode?

VIDEO: True Blood Season 7 – The Next Tantalizing Trailer!

Truebie Fans Get Another True Blood Tease from HBO:

Kristin Bauer van Straten stars as Pam in HBOs True Blood Season 7 promo trailer 1It wasn’t that long ago that we got to see the very first sneak peek of HBO’s True Blood Season 7! Now we need to hold onto our hats for the next wicked tease. This clip is interspliced with clips from the very start of True Blood as well as plenty of new stuff to pore over. Here’s the breakdown for you:

  • There is a distinct reference to the fact that ‘we can’t go back to the way things were’ – this might be a little unsettling to those fans that enjoyed the return of a quieter season with Season 6. Are things about to get overly crazy all over again?
  • Remember when Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) told Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) she was safe with him? Yeah, well right after we have a flashback of that, we get a flash of True Blood Season 7 – and it’s of people being ripped out of a car and and radio reports of a ‘bloodbath’ – are they implying Bill is deceiving Sookie again this year? Notably, there is footage to suggest this bloodbath may have occurred at the newly named Bellefleurs (formerly Merlotte’s) since there is a scene of the establishment at the very end and it doesn’t look good at all.
  • Next we find a flashback to Sookie’s gran – is this one of the characters from the past that will return in Season 7?
  • Wait – is that Sookie lying lifelessly on the ground???
  • Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) is still not happy with Bill. It seems Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) is trying to make amends though with her promising Adilyn (Bailey Noble) not to hurt her again.
  • OMG! There’s finally a flash of Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) – is she happy, sad, relieved, mad? You can’t really tell since it’s all the same to her. Speaking of, is that her standing in front of some flames…
  • Is that a katana?
  • And is Violet (Karolina Wydra) finally letting Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) ravish her?
  • Sookie is begging ‘No, No, No!‘ There is blood on her too – who is dying in her arms?
  • Is that a pit of dead people Sookie, Jason, Andy, Sam (Sam Trammell) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) are standing over?
  • There is still no mention or sighting of Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) in this clip – or did I miss it?

Well, that’s a lot of consume in a minute and a half – why not watch the whole clip… over and over again, and then let me know what else I missed by commenting below!

SPOILER: True Blood Season 7-Will Alcide and Sookie Live Happily Ever After?

Will Alcide and Sookie Become True Blood’s Faerie Tale Romance?:

True Blood's Anna Paquin and Joe Manganiello as Sookie and Alcide
Credit: HBO.com

The Season 6 Finale of True Blood flashed forward 6 months and showed a very happy and in love, Sookie(Anna Paquin) and Alcide(Joe Manganiello). Sookie has sworn off vampires(for maybe the 100th time) so we are sure that Sookie and Alcide will live happily ever after…NOT! Though Alcide is the suitor closest to a human that Sookie has fallen for in the 6 seasons(with the exception of Sam), it makes sense that the storyline would put these two together(since Sam is no longer available).

TVline.com got an exclusive interview with True Blood Show Runner, Brian Buckner and he dished on the Season 7 Alcide/Sookie Scoop!

“The show has flirted with a Sookie and Alcide romance for years. Why was now the right time to pull the trigger on that?
In a world where almost everybody is a creature of some kind, Alcide is the most human of all of our creatures. Now, that’s not to say that it was his most human season. We all felt the same thing that the audience was feeling, which was that Alcide needed to come back to center. So it was that as much as anything else. And it was also that Sookie’s going to put her money where her mouth is and say “no more vampires.” She got into it with Warlow without knowing he was a vampire, so she was trying. But this shows growth for Sookie. I mean, I suppose he’s a hunk, so at least she’s still getting her piece. [Laughs] He’s the most normal, most human, most down-to-earth of any of her suitors. To me, with Eric gone and off on his own story going forward, I think it’s a pretty obvious triangle we’re setting up between Bill and Sookie and Alcide.”

To see the entire interview check out the link below!

I only have two issue with the Sookie/Alcide love story…Didn’t Eric glamour Alcide into never touching Sookie? Wasn’t Sookie supposed to repulse Alcide? I may have missed the un-glamour moment…What do you think Truebies? Is there a contradiction here? Number two, I love the Eric/Sookie/Bill love triangle…not sure the Alcide/Sookie/Bill triangle is going to do it for me!

Well it goes without saying that there were probably many happy True Blood fans and many unhappy True Blood fans at the end of True Blood Season 6 Finale which aired on HBO last Sunday.

There was a lot to happen to be jammed packed into one episode, setting the stage for what to expect in Season 7. The attached video Inside the Episode #10, features some of the writers, and they give us the opportunity to find out what is in store for some of our favourite characters!

SPOILER: True Blood’s Season 7-What’s Next For Bill?

Where Does Bill Go From Here?:

True Blood's Stephen Moyer as Bill Compton
Credit: HBO.com

True Blood’s Season 6 took Bill(Stephen Moyer) on a intense journey, as we saw the depth of his character continue to progress. He was the egomancial Billith, then the concerned Father, then the attempted Martyr, and by the finale we saw the side of Bill that we all fell in love with in Season 1.  Billith is no more, and yet the experience will surely live in him and impact future choices he makes. But what can we expect from Season 7? TVline got the dirt with Show Runner Brian Buckner, where he finally had the opportunity to speak out after the Season 6 finale.

When Asked if “Season 7 would be a Reset of sorts for Bill” Brian responds:

“Absolutely. We don’t want Bill to be an a—hole. The question we’re going to be asking this coming season is: Can Bill be forgiven? Because he made his intentions clear. I think Bill doesn’t have a trick up his sleeve this time. I think he’s genuine. The real question is about forgiveness.”

I don’t think that Bill should be the only one headed on a pursuit of forgiveness, after all Faerie Princess Sookie Stackhouse(Anna Paquin) did try to stake him…

So Truebies what do you think? Will Bill get the forgiveness that he seeks in Season 7? Let us know in the comments below!

True Blood’s Michael McMillian Says Farewell to Steve Newlin

Michael McMillian Talks about the Demise of Steve Newlin:

True Blood's Michael McMillian

In a recent interview with Vulture.com, HBO‘s True Blood Michael McMillian(Steve Newlin) reveals his feelings on the departure of Steve Newlin.  In Episode 9 of True Blood Steve Newlin meets the sun at the hands of a VERY pissed off Eric.  Check out some of my favourite questions here!

Do you think he was gay, or bisexual? Because there must have been something between him and Sarah at one point.
Yeah, well, Anna Camp and I used to talk about it, and we still do. We think that they still had a bit of a kinky sex life there for a while. I think they married young, and they were both virgins when they got married, and I think she was just trying to keep Steve happy for a long time. I think there was probably some intense dom/sub play going on in the bedroom. I think Sarah was willing to perform certain acts for Steve to keep her husband happy.”

Did you see this coming for Steve? How much advance warning did you get?
Steve was really digging himself into a hole this season. Steve Newlin is the Jabba the Hutt of the True Blood universe. He has a very important place in the mythology, but he’s not going to help Luke Skywalker blow up the Death Star, you know? And especially seeing how the story was going, and Steve taking his place as a villain again and causing so much damage? If you think about it, Luna died because Steve and Russell kidnapped Emma. Pam was outted as Eric’s progeny because of him. Nora dies because of him. And he just wasn’t going to make it through. But Steve really dies at the hands of both Eric and Sarah.”

Who was Steve’s maker? He didn’t know her name …
I’d love to answer the question, but the truth is, I don’t know! And I’m not sure if the show is ever going to answer it or not. At one point, we were going to find out last season, and it was written out in the script, but they scratched it out.”

True Blood: Is the “Real” Season 6 Major Death Still to Come?

Will We See One More Death in the Finale?:

True Blood's Anna Paquin
Credit: HBO

With the Season 6 Finale of True Blood less than a week away, there is the lingering possibility that the Season 6 major character death is still to come.  Fans watched with awe and sadness in Episode 6, when the lovable and tormented Terry Bellefleur(Todd Lowe) set the wheels in motion to put an end to his tortured life.  We knew almost immediately that Terry would be the “major” character death of Season 6. Episode 7 confirmed our feelings, and yet the death of Terry Bellefleur for some was a little anti-climatic.  Yes Terry has been in the series since the beginning, but Terry? The major character death?

I would like to propose another twist that the major character death is still to come in the Season 6 Finale which aires next Sunday August 18 on HBO. The major character death could in fact be none other than Bon Temps favourite telepath, Sookie Stackhouse(Anna Paquin).

What we know:

1) Sookie has promised to become Warlow(Rob Kazinsky’s) faerie vampire bride, this can only be achieved with the “death” of Sookie. Sookie reconfirmed her promise to Warlow in Episode 9.

2) Sookie does not want to die and be buried next to her parents for all of eternity.

3) Sookie’s “death” would not mean the end of her time on the show True Blood, it would mark the beginning of a very interesting storyline.

It has been said in an interview that the finale brings “game changer” status to True Blood. Having Sookie become a vampire would definitely be a game changer, since we have spent the past 5 seasons listening to her say that she would never turn into a vampire…

So Truebies what do you think? Will Sookie go through with the faerie vampire wedding, marking the “real” major character death of the season?

True Blood Season 6 Episode 9 Synopsis Released-“Life Matters”

True Blood Season 6 Is Coming to a Close:

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard
Credit: HBO John P Johnson

True Blood Season 6, Episode 9 Synopsis has been released. Episode 9 marks the 2nd last episode of Season 6. The battle between the humans and vampires will likely intensify even further in the upcoming episodes. Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) will be out for revenge for his sister Nora’s (Lucy Griffiths) death, which was at the hands of the humans.

Here’s What will Happen:

“A desperate Bill (Stephen Moyer) tries to ferry Warlow (Rob Kazinsky) away from the faerie plain, but Sookie (Anna Paquin) is having none of it. Meanwhile, Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) arrives at vamp camp, looking to inflict serious human damage. In Bon Temps, friends and family take emotional turns remembering a fallen neighbor. Bill feels the pull of Lilith’s (Jessica Clark) sirens”.

So Truebies do you think that Eric is going to get the revenge he is looking for, or will his return to vamp camp only to further secure his spot in the room where the vampires will meet the sun?
