New Photograph of True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten in Northmen – A Viking Saga

November 7, 2013

Northmen – A Viking Saga Due for Release in 2014:

Northmen - A Viking Saga promo posterRyan Kwanten is probably best known as Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) hot but (mostly) clueless brother, Jason Stackhouse in HBO’s True Blood. As for Vikings, the hottest one we know goes to Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) – but that just may be about to change!

Kwanten is starring as Conall in Northmen – A Viking Saga, due for release in 2014. While technically not a Viking, Conall is actually a Christian monk who likes his sword as much as his Viking counterparts. You can read the synopsis below:

A gang of Viking marauders under the command of their young leader, Asbjörn, bear down on the coast of Britain, intent on pillaging Lindisfarne of its gold. But, caught in a vicious storm, their longboat is dashed to pieces on the rocks off Scotland. Trapped deep within enemy territory, the shipwrecked mens’ only chance of survival is to reach the safety of the Viking stronghold Danelag.

With only the enigmatic Conall, a monk who preaches with his sword to help them, they cut a bloody swath through anyone who gets in their way. But the journey becomes a race for their lives when the King of Scotland sends his most feared mercenaries, the Wolf Pack, after them. Traversing an unfamiliar and hostile land, they are pursued relentlessly. However the hunters become the hunted when the Vikings, eager for battle, set deadly traps and mercilessly decimate their pursuers one by one…

Wow! This sounds good. While the movie is still filming, the principle photography has just been completed. You can check out the first official promo still below.

True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten Gets an Extreme Makeover for His New ‘Vikings’ Role

September 15, 2013

Kwanten Will Play the Role of a Christian Monk in Northmen – A Viking Saga:

Recently we announced that Ryan Kwanten (who plays Jason Stackhouse in HBO’s True Blood) will join the cast of Northman – A Viking Saga. There was no news, at the time, of which role he would be playing in this latest movie of his, yet many people were wondering if he would in fact be a Viking. Well, since he arrived at the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) premieres for his latest movies, The Right Kind of Wrong and Mystery Road, sporting a shaved head, there are now reports that he will be playing the part of a Christian monk! There is no official confirmation on this though, with IMDb.com still not listing the name of his character in the Viking movie.

And with True Blood finishing up with Season 7 in 2014, Ryan told the Toronto Sun, during the Toronto International Film Festival, that he is very lucky to be employed in a career where 99% of actors are unemployed or struggling. He also had this to say about being an actor:

In terms of being an artist and being able to express myself physically and emotionally, I think it’s such a real liberation. In a weird way actors are these eternal kids. We get paid to play out this innocence, and our emotions. And quite often in ways we wish we could in real life.

It’s a great thing that a talent such as Ryan Kwanten is still in the limelight and with so many movies of his coming up in the near future, I don’t think we have to worry about that light dimming just because True Blood is coming to a close!

Why don’t you check out Ryan’s latest do by clicking here and letting us know what you think in the comments below!
