Sam Trammel to Star in Upcoming Amazon Pilot

Check Out the True Blood Actor in the Amazon Pilot Cocked:

Sam Trammell as Sam Merlotte in HBO's True BloodEvery year Amazon releases a selection of pilot episodes. These pilots are potential new series for the retail giant and they release them to the general public to help them decide which ones should be signed on for a complete season. So far, Alpha House and Transparent are just two of the most successful new series commissioned by Amazon thanks to their pilot preview.

This year there are several new shows up on offer, all of which you can view below, but the most interesting one – for Truebies – by far is the first one, entitled Cocked. This pilot stars Sam Trammell, who played Merlotte’s bar owner, Sam Merlotte through all seven seasons of HBO’s True Blood.

Cocked: The dark comedy follows liberal Richard Paxson (True Blood’s Sam Trammell) as he returns to his rural Virginia home to help with his family’s gun business. His older brother will be played by Jason Lee (My Name is Earl).

Down Dog: A charming and handsome yoga instructor for the rich and beautiful sees his life turned upside down when he and his girlfriend — the owner of the yoga studio where he teaches — break up.

Mad Dogs: An American adaptation of a U.K. series, this comedy centers on a group of high school friends (including Steve Zahn of Dallas Buyers Club and Billy Zane of Twin Peaks) who reunite in Belize. But the trip goes south when old grudges lead to an unraveling of lies and a murder. Shawn Ryan of The Shield will executive produce.

The Man in the High Castle: Based on Philip K. Dick’s book of the same name, the drama considers what would have happened if the Allied forces lost World War II. The series was penned by The X-Files’ Frank Spotnitz.

The New Yorker Presents: The most original idea of the bunch, this half-hour docu-series will bring articles, fiction and poetry from The New Yorker to life. The project boasts an all-star cast, including Alan Cumming (The Good Wife).

Point of Honor: The Civil War drama from Lost’s Carlton Cuse is about the son of a wealthy southern family who sets his slaves free while fighting for the Confederacy.

Salem Rogers: Leslie Bibb (Iron Man) and Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live) star in the comedy about an overly blunt former supermodel who re-enters the world after spending 10 years in a cushy rehab facility and tracks down her former assistant to help her make a comeback.

The Amazon Pilot series will premiere in 2015.

Stefano Formaggio Premiers at the Catalina Film Festival:

Stefano, a handsome Italian, is the producer and merchant of the finest cheese in the village. The ladies adore him, the men want to be him – and everyone loves his perfect Formaggio. The township is beautified by its very essence. Jasmine, an equally stunning but shy florist, who has long admired from afar, finally gets the date of her dreams, and the birth of a relationship that we hope, for her sake, doesn’t happen.

As well as premiering at the Catalina Film Festival (September 24th-28th 2014), it will also be shown at Carmel International Film Festival (October 15-19th 2014) – the very place in which Stefano Formaggio was shot. Sam Trammell Walks the Red Carpet for White Rabbit at the Boston Film Festival

The True Blood Actor Plays a Drug Addict in His Latest Movie Role:

Sam Trammell as Sam Merlotte in HBO's True BloodFans of HBO’s True Blood all know Sam Trammell as the lovable shapeshifting bartender, Sam Merlotte. However, his latest movie role – that of a drug addicted father in White Rabbit – is quite a change from this! As Sam Trammell walked the red carpet in celebration of the release of White Rabbit at the 30th Boston Film Festival, he had this to say about why he chose the role of Darrell:

I was really attracted to the part itself … as an actor, getting to play a bad guy, even though Darrell turns out to be good in the end, is always really fun. He’s a drug addict and mean, but actually had a good heart. But he’s limited in his open-mindedness. He didn’t have a big open mind, so that was fun to portray.

White Rabbit tells story of a bullied teenage boy, Harlon, who has an untreated mental illness. He has endured visions of a white rabbit his father forced him to kill as a child. Nick Krause plays the role of Harlon. The movie also stars Britt Robertson and Ryan Lee. Tim McCann directs this movie from a screenplay by Anthony Di Pietro. It is produced by Burning Sky Films and SSS Entertainment, and distributed by Breaking Glass Pictures.

You can check out a couple of video interviews from the Boston Film Festival below. The first one is a red carpet interview with Sam Trammell. The second video is a Q & A session that was held post-screening.

Sam Trammell’s ‘White Rabbit’ Acquired by Breaking Glass Pictures

True Blood’s Sam Trammell Stars in White Rabbit:

Sam Trammell as Sam Merlotte in HBO's True BloodWhite Rabbit was a movie released to Switzerland in 2013. It starred True Blood’s Sam Trammell alongside Britt Robertson (Under the Dome), Ryan Lee (Super 8) and The Descendants Nick Krause. Thanks to Breaking Glass Pictures acquiring the rights to the movie, the US can now get a chance to view it as well.

You can view IMDb’s synopsis for White Rabbit below:

Harlon has been tormented since childhood by visions of the white rabbit his father forced him to kill while hunting as a young boy. Now a bullied teenager, Harlon’s undiagnosed mental illness is getting worse. He begins to hear voices and imagines the characters in his dark comic books are speaking to him. The rabbit along with other imaginary characters taunt him into committing one final act of revenge.

Tim McCann directed the movie. Robert Yocum (Burning Sky Films), Shaun Sanghani (SSS Entertainment) and Jacky Lee Morgan are acting as producers with Sanghani having this to say about White Rabbit:

White Rabbit is one of the most controversial, daring films in the last several years, and its social relevance is as significant as ever. We are thrilled to be working with Breaking Glass Pictures so audiences everywhere now have the chance to see what we believe is a must-see film.

True Blood Panel Comic Con 2013 -Live Blog

True Blood Cast Represents at Comic Con:

True Blood's Michael Mcmillian, Anna Camp, and Rob Kazinsky

It appears that the 2013 Comic-Con was yet again a success for the True Blood cast and fans! Even though our two favourite male vamps were absent( Alexander Skarsgard, and Stephen Moyer) the panel pulled through with lots of insight on the remainder of the season! The panel included Anna Paquin, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Nelsan Ellis, Deborah Ann Woll, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Joe Manganiello, Anna Camp, Michael McMillian and Rob Kazinsky. The True Blood Panel was moderated by TV Guides Kate Hahn.

The True Blood segment kicked off with a video clip of teasers for the 2nd half of the current Season 6. Truebloodnet.com has posted this video if you are eager to check it out!

Here are a few favourite questions and responses:

“Ryan Kwanten on Jason’s “noble” quest to find his parents’ killer – “There’s a lot more in store for Jason – he gets real crazy, real soon. He likes to think he’s Rambo, but fails miserably!”

Deborah Ann Woll on Jessica’s self loathing following season six’s dark twists: “Jessica’s going to have to pay dearly within her own heart for what happened – it’s going to take a long time for her to forgive herself.”

True Blood newbie Rob Kazinsky is bowled over by the reception he’s getting from Comic-Con fans. He also promises we’ll get both light and dark from Warlow this season. “You’re going to see some gnarly stuff!”

Buckner promises that True Blood will “return to its roots” at the end of this season, returning focus to its core characters: “We’re really going to make it feel like we’re coming home.”

True Blood’s Chris Bauer: The Actor’s Experience of Andy’s Season 6 Journey

Chris Bauer Discusses Andy’s Future:

As if Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) hasn’t put up with enough with all of the shenanigans Bon Temps throws at him, he’s left with dealing with four fae daughters at the start of Season 6 of True Blood. Things only seem to be getting worse for the town sherriff, especially after the recent death of three of his ‘young’ ones due to one of our favorite redheaded vampires. Actor Chris Bauer spoke about his specific role this season as a father, incest, and his own Alexander Skarsgard impression.

When asked about the direction Andy is headed in now that recent events have changed things for him, Bauer commented:

“Andy really has to draw a line for himself between power and powerless. And I personally find that line to be one of the most deep and rich veins of humanity. There’s a lot of hubris that goes into thinking you can avenge anything, that you can affect the world in such a way that creates justice. On the other hand, there’s a lot of shame and impotence if you can’t affect your world at all. I think it’s extremely human.”

To add to the sherriff’s plate, Andy must learn how to take care of four ever-growing girls.

How did he deal with the rapid speed of time?:

“We had to discuss how emotionally invested you can get in people in three days. You have to take in that it’s three days in True Blood time, not three days in real time. So I did have to figure out how to manifest a subtle level of realism, because I’ve only known these girls for a few days, which is a slightly different emotional frequency than if they had been 18. But our actual human response to children is a sense of instant bond, instant protection, instant affection, instant concern for their well-being and future. So I just went to that.”

In reality, however, Bauer commented that due to his own “immature” nature, he didn’t speak too much to the many actresses playing his children, but the young ones made him feel right at home as if he were home with his own daughter when she was that young.

“They didn’t understand things like camera direction or how to find the lens, so when you do those scenes with the little teeny girls early on in the season, I would say my line and remind them where to look, remind them what to say, they would have their reaction, and I would say my line, and they would just cut out all my on-camera direction. It was very cute.”

When asked about the ancestral incest found in the show, particularly in his Andy’s storyline with the romatic encounter between Andy’s sister Portia and Bill(Stephen Moyer) (and Bill being Portia’s great-great-great-great grandfather), Bauer agreed that while it’s also confusing, it raises the stakes on his daughters’ attack. The event refocuses one of the show’s original themes of character interaction in a world with very different types of people.

“It’s like two species trying to get along, even though externally we look the same. That’s where all the racism, all the homophobia, all the sexism, all the diminishing-others-for-their-differences comes from. It’s so applicable.”

As for the writing process, the actor said he has not spoken with the writers to pitch ideas. Everyone involved is rarely even together, he said, except for the table reads.

From being a part of these, he has a message for the world:

“The world needs to know that Sam Trammell does a spot-on impression of Alex Skarsgård. Sam is like a character actor in a leading man’s body. It’s ingenious. I’ve tried to do it myself, and I can’t do it. But when Sam does it, it sounds like Eric, and it has this breathy trace of a Swedish accent, you know what I mean? It’s brilliant. I’ve tried to do Joe — I can’t. And it’s not that hard to do Andy. [Laughs.] You just have to growl while you talk.”

We can’t wait to see the rest of Andy’s emotional journey this season!

True Blood Season 6 Half Way Finished-Where Will the Next Episode Take Us?:

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and Kristin Bauer van Straten
True Blood/HBO/John P. Johnson

We are half way through Season 6 of HBO’s hit show True Blood, and things just keep heating up!  The war between vampires and humans continues to escalate, while love and loyalties will continue to be tested.  We know that a major character is supposed to die in Season 6, and that it is to happen around the half way point, could Episode 6 be the ending for one our beloved characters?

HBO has released the details of Episode 6 of True Blood:

Bill (Stephen Moyer) decides to seek out Lillith (Jessica Clark) for advice on handling the escalating human-vampire crisis. Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), Nora (Lucy Griffiths), Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) get up-close-and-personal looks at the perverse perils of Vamp Camp. Sam (Sam Trammell) comes to a decision he hopes will be in Emma’s (Chloe Noelle) best interest. Andy (Chris Bauer) gives his faerie daughter a name, or two or three or four. Arlene (Carrie Preston) has a solution to Terry’s (Todd Lowe) malaise, and Eric makes a startling discovery”.

This episode is written by Daniel Kenneth and Directed by Howard Deutch.

I can’t help but notice that the main character Sookie Stackhouse(Anna Paquin) and Lafayette Reynolds(Nelsan Ellis) are not mentioned in the Press Release, when we last saw these two Layfayette’s body had been taken over by Sookie’s deceased father, who was trying to drown Sookie…I wonder if this storyline could be the major death plot line…Guess we will have to just wait and see!

Episode 6 aires this Sunday July 21 on HBO at 9:00pm ET/PT.

Wolf Pack Scoop from Jamie Gray Hyder on True Blood Season 6:

Jamie Gray Hyder on True Blood Season 6: Alcide as Packmaster and Being part of the Wolf Pack

Alcide and Danielle via TrueBlood Online

Jamie Gray Hyder, who portrays werewolf Danielle on HBO’s True Blood, is having a really good time on her second season of True Blood. She talks about Danielle’s role in the wolf pack:

I think as her role on the show has increased so has her role in the pack. I think that she’s very much an opportunist. Last season, she was willing to do V and also other stuff to impress the pack leader who was in power. And, now there’s a new pack leader and she’s vying for his attention. I think that she just wants to go along and be part of what’s going on and prove that she’s a viable asset to the pack.

Hyder concedes Danielle will ingratiate herself with Alcide (Joe Manganiello), the new Packmaster:

I think [she’s] going to continue to do whatever [she] can to appear valuable to him and the dynamics of everybody kinda changes throughout the season as we continue.

In episode 2, Alcide and the wolf pack abduct Emma from Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), and they have an all-out fight, knocking out Sam and Layfayette (Nelsan Ellis) (who was babysitting Emma). As humans have declared war on vampires, does this fight signal another war between werewolves and shapeshifters? Hyder weighs in:

Definitely. I think that we have just opened up a whole can of worms with what happened. In taking Emma, we’ve now involving [sic] a whole other group of people in our lives and in the pack. There’s so much drama going on in the town that I think that a big issue for us was that choice.

You’ll just have to see how the season plays out because it’s definitely now causing a lot more people to interact with us. And we probably should keep to ourselves, but Emma’s a wolf and we feel that it’s important that she’s with us and her grandmother and with the pack.

Alcide was more than a little bit scary in the way he abducted Emma, throwing her over his shoulder while she screamed for help. Is he a totally different person now that he’s Packmaster? Hyder shares her viewpoint on Alcide:

I think [that being Packmaster] requires him to step up and show a little more aggression than usual to assert himself. And, in the case of Emma, we went to Sam’s with a mission and we knew we had to leave with her. We really do feel that she’s safest with us. So, even though Alcide’s aggression is there, it’s simply there to help others.

Hyder feels that because Emma is a wolf, she really should be part of that lifestyle, and Sam is not an appropriate caregiver for Emma.  So what does Hyder think about the wolves getting involved in the state of Louisiana’s war on vampires?

I think that we’re trying to keep to ourselves as best as possible. We’re trying to look out for our own, but there’s no doubt that with such a big conflict going on in Bon Temps and in the State of Louisiana that we’ll be able to stay out of the conflict.

The drama is getting bigger and better with the wolves and the shapeshifters, it’s not all about the vampires anymore! Viewers are looking forward to more supernatural drama in the rest of the season of True Blood.
