HBO’s True Blood Season 6 Casting News:

Episode 3, Abducted, Features a New Doctor

John_Fleck_IMDBOn February 8th, 2013, Truebloodnet.com reported that Episode 3, Season 6 of HBO’s series True Blood had been re-titled. ‘Rock Hard Times’ was renamed ‘Abducted’, and would introduce the character of Dr. Overlark. It has been announced that veteran character actor, John Fleck (Weeds, Bones) has been cast in this role.

The recurring guest role of Dr. Overlark has been described as 50 years old, and a ruthless advisor to Arliss Howard’s Governor Creighton Burrell. Cast as Dr. Overlark, John Fleck is a long-time character actor who has appeared in a wide array of television guest roles. Mr. Fleck is one of only three actors to have appeared in every installment of the Star Trek television franchise (albeit as a different character in each).

We have one more character in place, but still no starting date for Season 6 to air. We’re left to speculate and anticipate, leaving us sure of only one thing: waiting sucks.

Alex Skarsgård Pauses True Blood For The East At Sundance:

Taking A Break From Filming Season Six of HBO’s True Blood, Alexander Skarsgård Attends Sundance Movie Premier

The_East_At_Sundance_by_Bjorn_LarsonPremiering January 20th at the Sundance Film Festival, The East is a film starring Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman) of HBO’s series, True Blood. Mr. Skarsgård was joined by the film’s other cast members in discussing its central theme; is there morality in terrorism?

The East is an espionage thriller that focuses on an operative, Sara Moss, played by Brit Marling. Sara is investigating a group of eco-terrorists targeting big businesses causing harm to the public. The group is loosely led by Benji (Mr. Skarsgård), who Sara finds herself drawn to. Ellen Page rounds out the cast as a group member named Izzy.

Mr. Skarsgård explains the film’s theme:

“The question is, morally, where do you draw the line? How far are you willing to go for this cause? …it’s not preachy. It’s complicated. The way life is and reality is.”

While attending The Sundance Film Festival, Mr. Skarsgård also found time to meet with fans and sign some autographs outside of Village At The Lift.

Spoiler Alert! True Blood Casting Call: Episode 6 Calls for a New Vampire

SpoilerTV Wants you in Season 6:

HBO promo poster for Season 5 of True BloodYet another casting call has been issued for Season 6 of HBO’s True Blood! SpoilerTV has announced that HBO are looking for someone to play a vampire in Episode 6. His name is Wes (sorry to all you lady actors) and he was turned in the 70’s. Wonder if he was a hippy with long hair? While his ethnicity hasn’t been specified, the actor will have to appear to be in their mid-20s. Wes will survive his recurring Season 6 role and become a Season 7 regular. Rear nudity will be involved. SpoilerTV also had this to say about the role:

He’s sexy, smart, compassionate, protective, and plays the guitar. He’s going to be involved in a love triangle with Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and another vampire

Wonder if that other vampire is Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll)? And is this confirmation that True Blood has been renewed for Season 7? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below.

Season 6 Spoiler: New Episode Title for the next season of True Blood

Another Day, Another Song Title for Season 6:

True Blood promo poster - redWe have been reporting (thanks to SpoilerTV.com) the names of each episode of the upcoming Season 6 of HBO’s True Blood, as they arrive. Well, we have another one! Episode 4 of Season 6 has been given the name ‘I’m Your Man’. It’s another song title and it’s anyone’s guess as to whether it’s in reference to Leonard Cohen or Wham! Since HBO is partial to indie songs for True Blood, most people are putting their money on Leonard Cohen. Personally, being a huge Wham! fan, I wan to see an 80’s pop song featured in Season 6!

SpoilerTV.com have also announced two new casting roles:

LAVTF Team Commander (I’m guessing that LAVTF stands for “Louisiana Vampire Task Force”) , who prepares to attack a house with his crew; and Security Chief, whose becomes concerned for his employer when a vampire pays a visit.

Which song do you think it will be? And what do you think the episode title will mean for the episode itself?

Let us know in the comments below.

True Blood’s Season 6 Start Date

HBO Have NOT Confirmed a Date Yet:

True Blood HBO promo poster - WhiteRumours are flying around the internet at the moment about the start date for Season 6 of HBO’s True Blood. While many people are spouting June 9th as the official start date, this has not been confirmed by HBO.

Let me clear up why this date has been used so often:

  • Game of Thrones  Season 3 premiers on 31st March 2013. This is the official HBO start date. Considering the HBO show has 10 episodes per season, this brings the season finale to 2nd of June. This makes the following Sunday, the 9th of June
  • In previous years, True Blood has followed after the series finale of Game of Thrones
  • Every season of True Blood (except for Season 1, which aired premiered on September 7th, 2008) has started early in June
  • The official HBO website schedule states that Season 5  will be replayed on On Demand during 25th March 2013

Now, HBO have NOT set a start date anywhere on their website for Season 6 of True Blood, and considering they have had to take the birth of Anna Paquin’s twins into consideration with their filming schedule this year, it seems likely that HBO may very well delay the start date. Yet, they are also a creature of habit and June 9th does seem a very plausible start date.

However, here at TrueBloodNet.com we will not be announcing any start dates for Season 6 of True Blood until the date comes from the official HBO website. So make sure you check back here often to get all the breaking news!

Cast of Season 6 of HBO's True BloodThe title of Episode 3, Season 6 of True Blood has been announced by SpoilerTV. It is entitled Rock Hard Times. They have also announced a casting call for a guest star role and several co-star roles.

The guest role calls for a 50 year old female who goes by the name of Beverley Hutt. It turns out she is a friend of Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) and Jason Stackhouse’s (Ryan Kwanten) parents. I wonder if Beverley knows Warlow?

The other co-starring roles call for a younger version of Beverley Hutt (as seen through a flashback),   four mischievous fairies (also part of a flashback), a middle-aged hospital nurse, an eight year old version of Sookie (how cool would that role be?!) and, finally, two Caddo Parish sheriff deputies.

True Blood on Location: Filming at the Bellefleurs’

Filming Under Way for True Blood Season 6

The Bellefleur mansion in HBO's True BloodWhile we are still waiting to hear confirmation from HBO of a Season 6 start date, OnLocationVacations.com and Skarsgardfans.com have reported that filming is still under way for HBO’s True Blood.

Even though the scenes being filmed were all interior shots of the fabulous Bellefleur home, sightings of some of the stars still occurred. Carrie Preston (Arlene), Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefleur) and Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur) were all happy to smile and wave at onlookers as they entered and exited the house.

All the photos can be seen here.

Wonder what this story line will entail in Season 6?

True Blood Season 6 Spoilers: Episode Names, Cast Calls and Celebrity Hints

Joe Manganiello and Mark Hudis Hint at Season 6:

Cast of HBO's hit vampire show, True BloodWhile new episode names for HBO’s epic vampire show, True Blood, are being announced, there is also a flurry of activity as the cast and crew go back to work. While fans speculate over whether Season 6 of True Blood will premier in early June, there is plenty of solid news in relation to Season 6.

Firstly, plenty of news sources have released the titles for episodes 1 and 2. SpoilerTV have announced that Episode 1 will be titled ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’ and Episode 2 is called ‘Here Comes the Sun’. HollywoodHills.com have also reported a role call for several characters. Firstly, they are after someone to play Niall’s (Rutger Hauer) mother and the scenes involving her will date all the way back to 3500 B.C.! A younger version of Niall will also be needed for these scenes. There is also a call for a guest role. Veronica is a prostitute makes money by letting vampires feed off her. Since it’s a guest role, I am guessing things end badly for her.

Joe Manganiello will be getting a haircut (after starring in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s upcoming movie, Ten) to maintain his role of Alcide Herveaux. On his role in Season 6 of True Blood, he told Access Hollywood at HBO’s Golden Globes after-party:

“[It’s] racier,” he said. “My character’s taken over the wolf pack, so as an alpha, and a pack of dogs, you gotta regulate, you gotta set it straight with everybody so there’s some violence. It’ll be fun. This is Season 6 and the first couple scripts I read – I think they’re doing a lot of stuff that they maybe held back on the past couple years. They’re pretty wild. I think it’s going to be a pretty wild season.”

He also hopes that the temperatures raise  a little in Southern California before shooting starts. This suggests there will be a further lack of clothes for Alcide in Season 6.

Over at WetPaint.com, there is news from the new co-executive Mark Hudis, who is replacing Alan Ball. Hudis has plenty to tell Haverford College’s alumni magazine about Season 6 of True Blood:

“Certainly [Bill] is not going to be the Bill we know and love. He’s going to have more bite, no pun intended.”

He also went on to say that Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) will spend most of Season 6 looking for Harlow, the vampire Sookie has apparently been promised to. Mark also wants to keep the storyline central to Bon Temps.

HBO’s True Blood Casting Two New Characters for Season 6:

Spoilery Details Can Be Found In New Character Descriptions

True Blood LogoSeason 6 of the HBO series True Blood has begun filming the ten episodes that will air this summer. While no start date has been announced, it’s rumored June is a safe bet. New show-runner Mark Hudis announced the production is casting two new characters as series regulars. It’s possible that dedicated fans can read between the lines of the descriptions to glean hints and spoilers of what’s to come in Season 6.

The first of the two characters lands on the evil side of things. Crooked politician, Creighton Burrell, has no love for vampires. Burrell’s wife abandoned him and their daughter when she ran off with a vampire. As the Governor of Louisiana, Burrell often lets his personal ambitions overpower his humanity.

The second of the new characters is ‘do-gooder’ Nicole Jannsen. Nicole is a key member of group of well-meaning activists. Nicole herself has no concerns for money and worries only about doing the right thing.

“When the show returns, we’ll be introduced to a cockeyed optimist named Nicole Jannsen who runs with a (no pun intended) pack of civil rights activists in the (pun intended) vein of the 1960s Freedom Riders. Unfortunately for the lot of ’em, their good intentions aren’t necessarily backed up by a whole lotta common sense.”

Since no casting decisions have been announced, who would be on your True Blood acting dream team? If you could cast anyone you wanted in both roles, who would it be?

True Blood Shapeshifter Actress Shares Her Musical Creativity

Janina Gavankar Releases a Creative Music Video Showcasing Her Musical Side:

janina-gavankar-billboard magActress Janina Gavankar plays shapeshifter Luna Garza on HBO series True Blood. Ms. Gavankar has released a single and accompanying music video for her song, “Waiting for Godot”. A very creative artist, Ms. Gavankar plans to release a video for each track on her upcoming EP, and has consciously tried to break unstated rules of both music and video production.

Ms. Gavankar studied classical music and percussion as a child. Her EP is still in production with Randy Jackson’s label, Dream Merchant 21. She is unsure what the rest of the tracks will sound like, but has completed at least one other that she talks about in this way:

“very strange, all a cappella, and no moment is like the moment that came before it.”

While acknowledging it as a lofty goal, Ms. Gavankar intends to produce a music video for each track on her EP.

“But I really feel like it’s what I’m supposed to do. It’s the way that I think, it’s the way that I create. It’s all kind of one and the same. I don’t know how to do anything small-scale, much to the dismay of some of the people around me.”

Adding to her creative credentials, Ms. Gavankar produced the “Waiting for Godot” video herself. It was directed by her friend, Caitlin Pashalek. Several years ago, Ms. Pashalek also helmed the video for Ms. Gavankar’s cover of Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown”.

“One stake we set in the ground from the get-go with this was this it wasn’t going to be a ‘regular music video.’ I don’t give a sh** about following any sort of norms. I don’t really care if people think I’m hot. I really set out to make something beautiful that had a strong narrative.”

Ms. Gavankar believes that all people are complex and multi-sided. Music and videos are ways in which she expresses the duality of her own nature. While most of her True Blood cast mates know about her musical side, Ms. Gavankar says she has not outwardly advertised it, but she knows most are aware. She believes her music videos are evidence that, as an actress, she is able to bring true creativity to her performances.

Could HBO True Blood’s sixth season be it’s last?

True Blood coming to an end:

The cast of HBO's True Blood

Since Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s True Blood, has left the show, rumors have been running amok that the upcoming season of True Blood could be it’s final.

It’s no secret that shows can’t last without their foundation. Another potential piece of evidence? The’s show will be putting forth 10 episodes instead of it’s usual 12. However, Alan Ball was quoted as saying that it was due to the economy and to help accommodate Anna Paquin’s (Sookie Stackhouse) pregnancy.

True Blood to be Reduced to 10 Episodes for Season 6!

Trubies, What Do You Think of HBO’s Decision?

Hey Trubies; I for one am not happy, with True Blood only being 10 episodes for next season. Wetpaint.com has posted an article about True Blood being reduced next season. Wetpaint references a TVguide article that you can read here. In the article Alan Ball says:

“[We are] moving production to January to accommodate [Anna’s pregnancy],” but there will also “only be 10 shows next season, partly because of Anna and partly because of the economics.”

About the show in Season 6, he also states:

“There will also be some other characters maybe who we know and love who are pursuing a less than generous agenda,” Alan spilled, also noting that Jason “might be” a danger to all of Bon Temps’ vampires!”

He also had news about Sookie and Alcide possibly rekindling their very brief romance in the next season.

What do you think about Season 6 being only 10 episodes long trubies? Let us know what you think by commenting in comment section below.

True Blood Renewed For Sixth Season

Our Favorite Show Will Be Back for More!

Alcide and SookieHBO has just recently announced that they have decided to renew True Blood for a sixth season. This is great news for fans of the show. Although we can surely expect more of what makes the show great, there will be a few changes. Most notably, the show’s creator Alan Ball will be stepping down. Although he will stay on as an executive producer, Nurse Jackie’s Mark Hudis will be taking over the running of the show. We’ve known for a while that Ball was leaving, but it hasn’t always been apparent who would be taking over. Only time will tell if it was the right choice.

Although True Blood is still Sunday night’s highest rated show, it is still experiencing a steady decline in viewers. How this is happening is beyond me, but make sure you and all your friends continue to tune in on Sunday nights to keep our favorite show alive. Or undead, at least.
